Daemon didn’t want the kings aid so he used his magic spite to end a two year war in five minutes.

I think it’s all still scene setting, we’re due to get another big time jump and change of some actors in the next episode or two.

Game of Thrones had so many plot lines running, this for me is missing jumping between familes.

Have to agree with most. It was the weakest episode so far, as it felt very rushed. Didn‘t like the two year jump already and the ending felt very abrupt - thought he was going to be the “main” bad guy?

Also, before the show began I read that it would be just as violent / sexual as early GOT and while the violence is there, we’ve barely seen any nudity or sex? Not that I am that sorry we didn’t see a Viserys / Alicent scene but considering the comments beforehand I am a bit confused. Did they change it last minute?

I wonder why got builds up characters like the Night King and Crab Feeder to just cut them down with no back story or not even a word uttered.

Next week looks interesting though
GoT lacked source material towards the end. GRRM hasn’t even written the ending for the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. The Night King storyline in the show was anticlimactic because the showrunners were done and wanted to wrap things up and move on to the next thing. It was meant to be the main storyline but eventually fell to the side in favour of Dany going mad. I think the difference with the Crabfeeder is that he’s not necessarily that important a character. The storyline serves as a plot device used to give the male characters battle experience and build up Daemon as some decorated war hero which will be important in the wars to come. I’m glad it hasn’t been dragged out because it’s insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Wasn’t keen on the two year jump for episode 3. Was hoping to see more of the fallout from the big marriage announcement at the end of episode 2.

Highlights of the episode for me was the scenes with the dragons (felt sorry for that poor bloke who thought Daemon had come to the rescue, and ended up under a big dragon foot!)

Looking forward to seeing who Rhaenyra chooses as a hubby (bet she doesn’t get much choice at all) and wondering how long Viserys will stay in power.

Agree that the series could do with some laughs. A Tyrion type character would have been good.

I really want to love this series because I loved GOT so much. Ep 1 had me so hopeful. Ep 2 I enjoyed but was a bit meh not as good as last week. Ep 3 I would say almost bordered on a bit boring. To be fair I did watch it really late and was really tired. I did fall asleep at one point and woke up at that end bit and thought I’d missed loads, rewound it to discover I hadn’t, it had just jumped to this battle scene. Found it a bit confusing.

Tbf I found Game of Thrones boring until Ned’s death and the birth of the dragons. I feel like this first season is about establishing the key players and that things won’t really kick off until the last few episodes - setting us up for season 2. We have another big time jump coming up soon. There is a build-up of around 30 years before the Dance of the Dragons (Targaryen Civil War) actually fully kicks off.

I don’t think that we’ll ever connect with these characters as strongly as with Thrones because we’ve had years of fleshing those characters out whereas I’m not even sure they’re intending on anywhere near as many seasons for HotD. There are also other prequel/spin-offs in the works, including Snow (a spin-off focused on Jon).

"Jason" Lannister really made me laugh in the sea of Aerys, Daemons, and Rhaenyras. What's next, a Bobby Baratheon?
Even Tywin Lannister had a brother called Kevan. 😂

I thought this. I found the last two episodes to be quite boring after a solid start, and I think one of the reasons is it’s just focused on the same people and same one story all the time, whereas GoT would move around people in an episode so it felt more interesting, more variety to keep you hooked, and more going on. I think this series is missing that.
I’m also not a fan of the time jumps and missing things. Like they talked about daemon going power mad on that island but we never saw anything?! Just like how the king is now suddenly married with children but we didn’t see it so it feels really sudden and disconnected. I get they can’t show everything but I feel they are whizzing over stuff and just telling us in long conversations. Feels all talk no action right now.
