Your tips on how to look more Groomed, Glamorous or Polished #13

1
I have dry skin and get back-acne when I use too much (or a too heavy) conditioner.

This is what I do: I use a body moisturiser with 15% urea every day.
As dry skin ca be caused by a damaged skin barrier, I add a couple of drops of niacinamide about once a week.
I also add body oil to the moisturiser whenever my skin feels a bit tight.

Hiya! Does anyone know where these glasses are from please? Or dupes?

In terms of keeping up with it 'all' i find that repetition breeds habit.
If you do things at a certain time every day it becomes ingrained in your routine.

Pick a time that works - for instance if you have children, when they are having their bath or shower, putting on PJs - go upstairs with them and do your skincare then.

Don't wait until bedtime - you'll be too tired and won't be bothered.

I have to say - I'm much more dedicated now i'm older. When I was in my mid-20s i was just wash-and-go ... I didn't have much of a routine. Unfortunately I need it now (wrinkles and grey hair must be banished!!).

Ladies - what are we doing about sunken under eye areas?? Mine are so deep and no amount of concealer covers them up, and I don't want to be sticking needles/filler in my tear troughs!

Sitting with you on that one - I've natural dark circles on my eyes and they are deep-set, there's no concealer in the world or colour corrector that is able to cover it up. Doesn't matter how much I drink and sleep, it's sadly just the way it is and I've had that since I was a kid.
I can tell you what makes zero difference: Garnier Vitamin C eye cream. It's advertised for dark circles and does nothing, plus has a weird consistency that you can rub off after an hour or so and makes foundation look odd. Save your money.

You should try colour correcting before you put on your concealer. You can get really cheap pallets from boots and essentially if you just use an orangey colour that will cancel out any blue from your undereyes and you can put your concealer on top.

Thank you! I don't even think I have "dark circles" per se, my under eyes are just so deep set - I'm sure there's makeup hacks that would mask them better but my skills aren't up to scratch 😂

I think the only thing to help with that is under eye filler, which I’m wary of because I see so many people walking round with botched filler jobs! I guess you never notice the people who have had it done well though because it’s so subtle

you are all doing better than me I don’t even shower everyday
Same. In summer I have to even just to cool down, because it gets hot af here (Mediterranean heatwaves) but in winter, my body doesn't tolerate it well. I end up itching all over even when I moisturise. 😐 Maybe I should switch soaps idk.

I have a sense of shame around it because my mother cannot chill unless she has showered daily, as soon as she comes home. And through my childhood, she has acted like I'm some manky street urchin for doing it less often. She still shudders at the thought and says something backhanded like "Oh I don't know how you can go to sleep like that." Chill, I didn't come home from working in the mines, I type tit at a desk all day long.

I've also had friends act like not showering every morning is crazy. I shower in the evenings because cleaning myself for the outside world and then going to bed with the dust and dirt of the outside makes no sense to me, I don't shame others for choosing either way but people are very uppity about insignificant differences in personal hygiene, like showering morning or evening, or doing it god forbid less than every 24 hours. Puts me off ever making the effort tbh because the sense of dread takes the pleasure out of it.

As well as boots, try Superdrug, they have a huge range of make up brands and you can pick up a colour correcting pallet quite easily.
I use Huda faux filter in the pinky colour for my under eyes. It’s not cheap but you only need a dab and it lasts ages.
I watched a mua on TikTok who said the best way to apply concealer/colour corrector is, dabbing a bit on your ring finger and using rub it together using the ring finger on your other hand to emulsify it and then use those fingers to apply to under eye area
I’ve been doing this for years now and I find that for me, it’s the best way to apply these products.

Good luck 🤞🏻

not sure if anyone’s good With fashion advise but I’ve got a wedding coming up and this is the dress I’ve chosen below, I’ve just had a baby so really not loving my new body at the moment😂 so kept the outfit quite simple, but I’m struggling to decide what colour shoes and bag to wear to go with the dress! I guess the obvious choice is black but any ideas appreciated! As I’m tit when it comes to stuff like this haha

Lovely dress! Silver or gold would look good too

In my opinion nude shoes go with everything! I think black would be too harsh against this already dark toned reddy-purple. I also think her nail colour there is a great match, although probably trickier to find matching shoes and bag if that's what you're after.

Also congrats on your new arrival 🥰

Congrats on the baby ❤️ Personally I'd go with nude shoes as I'd get more wear out of them with other outfits.
