Your tips on how to look more Groomed, Glamorous or Polished #13

1
I do
Daily: shower, wash hair, skincare
Every 5 days or so: shave armpits
Weekly (roughly): do my nails, just plain cutting and filing
Monthly: facial, including getting my eyebrows done

But I simply can't find a routine to stick to when it comes to things like shaving legs, bikini area, tinting my lashes, doing my nails, or using my IPL device. I want to try to get more back in the habit though, stuff's too expensive to lie unused in my cupboard.

How often do u need 2 use IPL? Lookin 2 get 1 in Black Friday sales but am concerned about the commitment?

It really depends on how much hair you have and how well your body reacts to it and your hair colour. On the boxes it will say every second week for 3 months or so and then as needed. I've unfortunately rather thick body hair and also quite a bit of it. After 3 months I do see a good reduction, but some areas are way more stubborn than others and you need to repeat it even when the hair is gone at least every couple of months, otherwise some hair will start to grow back.
It does work though, I'm just lazy! If you get one, make sure you fit the hair and skin colour combination, it doesn't work on very light hair, red hair and not on dark skin.

Do you all have a self grooming schedule, daily/weekly/monthly/annually etc.? What is it, how do you plan all of it and stick to it?

Buying stuff and treatments does nothing for me because I never turn it into a habit and it fizzles out or rests in a drawer unused.

Daily: Cleansing / showering / wash & Blow dry hair - if needed / Moisturiser
Weekly: Electrolysis on face (currently on a course so will hopefully be over)
Bi Weekly: BIAB nails
Monthly: Eyebrow & Top lip wax
6 - 8 weekly: Legs & Brazil waxing / Hair cut and Colour / Podiatrist as i find this so much better than nail salon pedi / Gels on toes in Summer
3 - 4 months: Keratin Blow-dry, Good deep Facial (its £££) so less often than I would like!
5- 6 months : Botox

Its hard work isn't it?!

Daily: shower, shave whole body pretty much, skincare, try to moisturise but that probably is like once every two weeks on average 😅 I hate moisturising
Hair wash twice a week or 3/4 if I go running more. I use a face sheet mask every time I wash hair too.
Laminate eyebrows: every six weeks (includes wax and dye but I do those in between too as and when)

Then beyond that I don't have a set regular routine. I do more stuff if I have anything planned like going out which is probably about once or twice a month on average which I guess technically keeps me in routine. Then I exfoliate, sometimes fake tan, do eyebrows, eyelashes on (tatti lashes etc), sort out feet and nails.

Haircut I honestly get like once a year at this point.

Don't ask me how to stay on top of doing nails or IPL as I hate doing these things so hardly ever do it. I don't have an issue with shaving, I genuinely hate having any hair on me so this is something I just won't ever skip.

Oh I also get Botox about every 5 months

Thx. It’s hard working shifts 2 schedule in smth around the same time every wk but every1 says the results are worth it!

So.. are you ready? I will say sometimes I cba with it and do skip some routines some days / weeks, but generally I know I feel better about myself if I stick to them..

Morning - dry brush twice a week (Weds & Sunday), shower (wash hair every other day), wash etc, shave any areas that need it. Post shower moisturise (every other day use gradual tan moisturiser), cleanse, tone, serum, moisturise face.
Evening - shower, double cleanse, tone, moisturise. Oh and eye cream morning and night too.
Every evening I gently file around my nails to address any snags, moisturise my hands and cuticle oil, then I put on laneige lip sleeping mask. I do these things when lay in bed watching TV and it’s just habit now.

Weekly - scrub body, scrub face, steam face, face mask, retinol. Gym 4x per week - Mon, Wed, Fri & Sun. Red light sauna on Sundays.

Then I get a pedicure every 6 weeks, a mani every 3-4 weeks, brows monthly.
I do intend to start getting Botox next year. I just need to research who to go with for best results local to me.

Daily: shower and shave legs, cleanse, serum(s), moisturise face and balm on knees and heels, body oil everywhere else
Twice weekly : hair wash
Gym x 3 or 4 times a week. 30 min walk daily if not.
Fortnightly - acrylic infills
Every 6 weeks - roots and highlights as needed, trim
Monthly - change gel polish on toes
Every 3 months - clean and polish at hygienist
Every 5 months - botox x 3 areas

i rarely do a facemask as I don't enjoy them.
Never do a hair mask.

bloody expensive being a female !

You are all my heroes 👑 I am so bare minimum these days, I'm barely a minimum. I tried keeping an actual skincare chart, set up reminders, put notes on my calendar etc but push comes to shove and I just can't bring myself to follow up.

Maybe I sabotage myself so I won't have to face the fact that this is as good as it gets 😂

I'm a bit embarrassed now but this is what I do when I can stick to it.
- Shower daily/every other day, hair wash twice (sometimes once) a week. (I don't really use conditioner or a mask, although I have both.) I promise I don't smell, I just have a very sedentary job.
- I don't really have a skincare routine. I always use SPF 50, I wash with cold water in the mornings, sometimes use rose water. Evenings, use micellar to clean the SPF. I use a chemical exfoliator toner when my skin feels heavy.
- Nails, file/cut as needed, I like to keep them short. I get a manicure once every other month if I feel like it. Pedicure, once a month. Maintain at home.
- I get a body wax, so I try to go to that every 4-5 weeks, depending on where it fits with my period.
- Brows, maintain as needed at home. Sometimes my wax lady will fix my brows if I couldn't keep on top of it or messed it up.
- I guess that's it 😶 I get a haircut once or twice a year, once to adjust length, both for thinning it out a bit. I'm trying to learn how to do the basic cuts/thinning at home though, as I hate going to the hair salon. I can't remember the last time I left with a cut I was happy with.

I know I'd look and feel a lot more fresh if I stuck with a better routine, or worked out regularly but most of the time I feel like I'm barely living, merely existing. Bare minimum is the only thing that is manageable right now.

I’ve got a Philips one and it wants me to use it fortnightly at first then it will eventually suggest I move to monthly and then even more spaced apart. When I actually bother to use it, it’s worked pretty well on my legs and my underarms. I actually bought it to deal with my facial hair but I am so crap at integrating it into a routine that I’ve not seen any improvement at all but I think that’s down to me being super lax and also the fact that I’m not really ‘supposed’ to have the mad amounts of facial hair that I do, it’s due to PCOS and wonky hormones.

Be careful with facial IPL/laser if you have PCOS or any hormone imbalance. It is notorious to causing hair growth

Okay, I want to be you when I grow up. Very impressed!

Ladies with routine… I salute you!
I go through these horrible cycles of treating myself well, which In turn boosts my self esteem and then I get all lost and feel like crap again! It’s like I know what to do to make myself feel better, but I seriously lack the motivation! Wondering whether I’m hitting perimenopause, or just thinking up excuses as to why I’m a slob! 🤪
