Your tips on how to look more Groomed, Glamorous or Polished #13

Has anyone got a Dyson Air wrap? And if so are they good value for the high price? Through my employer I can currently purchase stuff from Currys through a scheme making it more affordable, not sure whether to go for the Air Wrap or a Shark Flex Style which is over £200 cheaper but still expensive, don't want to get either and be stuck with an expensive bit of kit I don't like. The problem is I feel like all the reviews that come up when you search for help are just paid promotions masquerading as impartial reviews
I have one. I don't use the brush attachments as they make my fine hair too smooth and floppy. I use the barrels and I can get a curl and good volume but only with a decent hold mousse and hairspray, and if I was going out in the evening I would end up doing a second attempt for the curls that have loosened too much. I do like it but I don't think it is amazing tbh

I do like mine and like the curls it makes.
I need to get straighteners as I think I need heat to stop my hair getting "fluffy" afterwards.
It depends, basically, on how frizzy your hair gets. If it's really prone to frizz, I don't know if I'd bother with either

Yeah, I would agree and I think if that's the case, you probably need proper heat (i.e tongs) for a decent non frizzy curl. But that's obviously more damaging, although don't be fooled into thinking the airwrap won't cause any damage at all.

I sold my air wrap after a couple of months. The curls didn’t hold in my hair no matter what I did and how many tutorials I watched. I have thick heavy long hair but it does hold a style well. I do much better when I curl with a £30 curling wand…curls last all day and into the next day.

I do have friends who love their air wraps so I do think it depends on what hair type you have.

I’m a hair extensions girlie and the one thing about hair extensions- they HOLD a damn curl …except from the air wrap it seems! The brush attachment to dry my actual hair is a god send and the blow dry brush for my bangs is great, but nothing can beat my 2003 Remington curling wand for the curls, I top them up with heat less curls but that wand, I suffer a 3rd degree burn every damn time , but it’s worth it for the curls 😂😂x

I love my airwrap but also don't know that it's worth the money, if that makes sense? I imagine the Shark Flex Style does a similar job, so if you're not sure if you will like this sort of tool I'd maybe go with the Shark and save a bit of money!

Do you all have a self grooming schedule, daily/weekly/monthly/annually etc.? What is it, how do you plan all of it and stick to it?

Buying stuff and treatments does nothing for me because I never turn it into a habit and it fizzles out or rests in a drawer unused.

We must have had a shared brainwave, I was about to post a very similar question! I’m good with every day stuff, but just can’t get myself up to do other things. I own an expensive IPL device that works well, yet don’t use it because you have to shave yourself to baby skin before using it.
i drag out shortening and filing my nails two or three days even though I don’t like them being long. Tried to make it a weekly habit but I dislike doing it so much…

I wonder why I feel often that something “isn’t worth it for being at home”, what makes me think that way. Clearly I don’t e.g. wear makeup for myself but for appearances a nod I sadly have a lot of people around me who will loudly proclaim they are above all that. I like makeup but this takes all the fun out.

My hair goes frizzy in rain, humidity, cold weather..
I’m using Aussie 100 hours of hydration serum, the stuff in the blue tube. No conditioner, just this. You only need a very small amount and it’s not heavy or sticky. It’s working for me, even worked on holiday with hot sun and swimming.

You influenced me straight to Morrisons to buy this on sale - it’s rather good isn’t it 😊 thank you.

I’d also recommend the ANSWR at home keratin treatment (been on sale a couple of times in the last few months). Instant improvement to my damaged ends and it’s withstood a couple of weeks of washing, we’ll see on the 2-3 months longevity claims but since my hair is shorter it’s worth the sale price for me either way.

I’m ok with skincare. I’m absolutely hopeless at everything else, including IPL and the various other expensive gadgets I’ve bought for myself. Never do my hair colour enough, or my gel toes, or my at home waxing, my eyebrow tinting, etc etc. I’m useless!

Can anyone recommend me somewhere I can get a very small eyeshadow palette? (Only really need two colours) - don’t want to spend a fortune.

I wanted to share a really good alternative to gel nails. It's precurred gel nail wraps by MoYou https://moyou.co.uk/

My Russian manicure lady moved to a different area and I haven't found anyone else doing it here, so had to abandon my visits to the salon every 3 weeks. I loved hard gel for my thin, bendy, psoriasis ridden nails as it made them grow stronger and not break. They got so bad at this point that I couldn't wear normal nail polish. The nails would just bend and the nail polish would flake off. I needed something to keep the nails hard. I tried these nail wraps and they work really well. They last around 10 days on me, but some people can get up to 3 week out of them. They have a lot of choice of designs and they have even more choice on their amazon shop. Even with having to apply them every 10 days it works out cheaper than salon visits where I paid £45-50 per visit and I can do it from home in around 20min.
