Shame for Andy, but he's being smart. Unlike a certain Spanish player of the same vintage who might have had some games this year had he of listened to his body.

Glad he came on court seeing as it was so last minute and late, although a Italian crowd may have booed him šŸ˜†

Least they had a good match before with Alcaraz losing his game for a bit.

Resurfacing is absolutely great, there are also some excellent tennis documentaries on Netflix.

Poor Andy - he's my absolute favourite. My daughter took a great photo of him at Wimbledon some years ago (and it's in my favourites).

I know :( I donā€™t know why I thought this year would be different, really. Iā€™m a Rublev fangirl, maybe thatā€™s why hehe

Yes he looked quite relaxed at the beginning of the week in the media videos.

At least heā€™s having a good run in the doubles with Max Purcell. I like them as a pairing & they seem to be having fun but I expect Andrey will go back to playing doubles with Karen when heā€™s fit, especially since they won the title in Madrid.

Alcaraz has had an amazing last 12 months, but his level has dipped a handful. Often pulled it back, but not always.

I'm kinda hoping both him and Djokovic get knocked out early in USO and one of the other 20yo's have a really hot two weeks.

Thatā€™s an unusual take! But then I think it would be better if they were both knocked out at something like the quarterfinal stage by 2 players who then go on to make the final so that whoever wins ā€œearnsā€ it and isnā€™t seen as the lucky beneficiary of Carlos/Djoko crashing out early. I have a soft spot for Felix, Berrettini and Rune but I canā€™t see it for any of them. Maybe Sinner or Ruud?

Iā€™ve just seen Pegula destroyed Samsonova in the final. I watched about 20 minutes of her game against Swiatek yesterday and she played really well so not a surprise she won the final, but still must hurt a player to lose 6-1 6-0.

Edit: Read a bit more and Samsonova had to play only a few hours after her 3 set SF. Man she must be more angry with the organisers and weather than upset with herself, thatā€™s a hard one to take.

Glad that sinner won just to get a bit more attention on other young players.

Tough break for Andy facing Karen in the first round tomorrow, although not sure how fit he is after a fair bit of injury timeout.

I like Sinner but he is rarely able to beat other top ten players. Maybe winning Toronto will give him a boost. Love that Carlos not only commented on Jannikā€˜s insta post but also congratulated him via his stories. He so clearly roots for Jannik to become his main rival among the younger players.

I donā€™t think Carlos not winning here means too much in terms of how much heā€™ll advance at the US Open :)

I do think Sinner is way less threatening than Rune, despite the flat game at wimbledon QF.
Oh I agree, but Carlos seems to like Jannik a lot and has mentioned him as a future rival. I think Carlos is looking for his genā€˜s version of Fedal ;)

I hope they do something about the awful timings now so many players are raising it, the rain this year everywhere has been particularly bad.

People complain about the 11pm curfew at wimbledon but they still manage their scheduling a lot better than all the other places.

I blame night tickets preventing them re-jigging matches. I'd stop that all together and reduce the prize money. Some tournaments have really struggled to sell tickets this year, so they may get even more revenue by selling out and not trying to fleece people for every penny.

The WTA already has enough issues with their new rules forcing players to play for longer before the mess in Canada. Something needs to happen.

I know Monfils is having a good few weeks, but Cam Norrie is having such an awful time at the moment, I hope he can pick himself up and get back in form. Iā€™m hoping to get tickets to the Davis cup in Manchester in a few weeks, donā€™t want a disappointment if I do manage to gošŸ˜‚

Iā€™m just about to watch Carlos - the first Cincy match Iā€™ve been able to watch. Hurcacz looks very chill signing tennis balls for lots of kids. I donā€™t mind who wins - I just want it to be good.

Was nice to see Coco win, I thought I'd want iga through but changed my mind watching šŸ˜†. Although liked iga telling her coach to shut up.

Glad to see that doubles guy with the overgroomed eyebrows that had a big strop in his winning speech at RG over taxis lose šŸ‘

Getting late here and won't watch the 3rd set of Alcaraz hur live, praying for hubi šŸ™. Been a great match so far.
