I wanted hubi to make the final but at least Alcaraz has had quite a few entertaining matches, after Wimbledon I've high hopes for today's final.

Just turned on the women's final and it's unwatchable with how bright it is and how they've incorrectly set up the camera settings so you can't see the ball! It's not been an issue at all, until the final 🤦‍♀️

Same. Though I am enjoying Djokovic’s faux humility with the whole ‘Well, I’m up against the world #1 in the best form of his life, so this is going to be really tough for me’ schtick 😏

FFS I was looking forward to going to bed. How did Cuntovic win that set? Less winners, more errors but still wins. hole.
 
Bah, fell asleep and missed the end. 😠

Quite the turnaround for Djokovic to go from being in such a physical state that tournament officials were on the court discussing next steps to being better than fine in the course of a few minutes. Those were some magical electrolytes the doctor gave him. 🤔

Totally unrelatedly, I suddenly remembered this post I made earlier in the thread 😏

He certainly seems to be beset by physical issues (and anger issues) in the context of playing against Alcaraz, doesn’t he? Wrist issues at Wimbledon (after he smashed his racquet on the net post 🙄), a few weeks off for exhaustion immediately afterwards, yesterday’s inability to function/sudden comeback … What will the USO bring, one wonders?

Wow! What a match. I had quite low expectations as neither were in great form this week.

I wonder if Djokovic regrets not playing many sessions during the day to get used to the heat? I thought he'd turn it around if he got it into a 3rd where the temp started to drop.

😬 at Alcaraz smashing his hand in frustration after second set, might have cost him the championship!

Unpopular opinion but I'm not mad that Djokovic won, that'll really fire up Alcaraz for USO and he might have got a bit complacent with back to back wins. I care most about stopping Djokovic from putting on that 24 🐊 jacket! Djokovic will be #1 after uso regardless of what happens.

Yep, we chatted a fair bit about this on the Wimbledon thread. It sucks for everyone, tennis won't attract as many new fans and many will switch to dodgy streams rather than pay sky £53 a month. Meanwhile those in Europe get the same on discovery for €7, nothing to do with Brexit all to do with sky.
Atp has their own stream for the tour that people will sub to rather than use sky next year, so another big issue for the already troubled wta.

All involved should have done something rather than shooting themselves in the foot.

I think everyone wants the next big 3, but the other two are no where near at the moment. Hopefully that'll change come next year.

The US Open is on Sky every year but they are getting the full ATP and WTA rights from next year. The cheapest sky deal with the full sport package is £35 which is a great deal. I'd much rather Sky have the tennis rights than Amazon. Amazon is a stream with a 60 second delay. Sky is actually live and you can switch channels without having to mess about with the Amazon app.
