Am I remembering correctly that years back when Zoe Ball was a contestant she was filmed in rehearsal crying and saying she couldn’t do it? Back then didn’t they show a more realistic view of how they trained, rather than thd VT’s now of feeding the ducks etc. (when I say a more realistic view of training I don’t of course mean abusive).

Living in Glasgow, I work in a very multi cultural environment. I've an Indian worker tell someone else (scottish person) that they were darker than them because they had a good tan, I had a lady from Pakistan tell me her grandson was a half caste and I've had another member of staff use a word (doesn't begin with p) that I felt was totally outdated and possiblly offensive. I asked why she used the word - she said she lost and doesnt know what words you're allowed to use these days plus the African member of staff told her the word was acceptable.

I keep thinking about leaving, but I like to gawp at the idiotic comments. 😁

It definitely feels like there’s been a legal warning, as in the blink of an eye commenting was turned off on lots of posts, loads of comments have been deleted (hundreds, according to Juliet), warnings are being posted left, right and centre, and comments on this particular issue are only allowed on one thread that has been designated as a ‘support for Zara’ thread.

Amanda in particular has got so much tit, when there are multiple accusations against Giovanni, and the comments about his approach existed long before she was on the show.

Amen. Side by side with the 'oh why didn't anyone speak up before ' there's the absolute vilification of Amanda for actually speaking up.

It would seem that as a result a lid has been lifted on a fairly toxic setup. But she among others will pay a high price, personally, unfortunately.
 
Maybe they're needing to change the format and have more same sex couples or more groups to limit anything happening

Tony doing The Full Monty was and is one of my favourite moments ever, since I started watching Strictly. 😁

Speaking of whether the show has gone too far away from it's original intention, I remember that when Tony was departing, Craig (I think) said to him that it was people like him that the show is about.

But the judges had just laughed at him throughout, and gave him no decent feedback along the way. He may never have made a great dancer but he worked very hard and deserved encouragement and credit for that.

Easy to say that, but we all thought Graziano also came under that category until yesterday. For all we know those names you mentioned could have been utter horrors behind the scenes, we really don’t know these dancers at all.

Gorka seems quite laid back in terms of training, like with Katie McGlynn could barely spare the time to train he did what he could with her and made it fun, he knew Nikita wasn’t going to win and again made sure she had fun, I think he’s one of the ones who recognises it’s a fun, family show even if he can look a bit arsey sometimes. I think he just has resting witch face.

I think some of Gemma’s comments about her vagina being Gorks ‘favourite pub’ and also not wanting it be like a ‘punched lasagne’ if she had to give birth naturally really made me wonder if she’s trying to be a ladette or whether he can be misogynistic. Who knows. We don’t know any of these people. That’s what I’m taking from this tit show.
