I like watching the good dancers but the tit ones are even better. It should be a family, fun show where they improve week on week, it's boring when they start out amazing and it's just top scores every week. They aren't professionals so shouldn't be trained, treated or judged as such. I think Strictly has been tit for years tbh, but I think they could bring it back if they returned to their roots and stopped trying to make it a serious dance competition.

I do think shows like Strictly and Dancing On Ice (which has gone the same way) need to recalibrate. Unless you are seasoned West End Performer or professional athlete you will never be able to attain those standards without seriously hurting yourself or putting yourself in danger of serious injury.

dancing on ice is another league imo - getting complete novice skaters to do the headbanger, a move that is actually banned from competition, is still crazy to me. skating is so dangerous and they hype up this element to a routine as something that the celebs have to do. they even kind of made fun of that young girl from corrie last year when she was obviously terrified to do it.

i agree that both shows really need to take stock of what they want to be. i do think, in all honesty, that sometimes the audience is confused about what it wants to (in general terms). if you read the insta/fb comments people go from hating ringers, to then losing patience with dancers who are “bad”, they like a journey but the journey can’t go on for too long…. equally the judges need to consider their comments (especially shirley).

I can't actually watch that show because of stuff like this, I've watched Ice skating for around 20 years the stuff they do on dancing on Ice is shockingly irresponsible. Most of their Pros never quite reached the top levels of their sport and more importantly few have coached at high levels of competition they simply aren't really qualified to attempt some of that stuff with a complete novice when Olympic level Ice Skaters are banned from doing such moves. They are meant to be ice dancing but a lot of it is actually Pairs which is a different discipline.

Amanda has given an interview to The Times (presumably coincidental timing).
She vomited and cried after training with FR, has had death threats, and says “But when I’m in a rehearsal room I make sure that it’s a place where everyone feels safe and feels like they’re having a nice time. And that courtesy wasn’t extended to me.”

It’s sad isn’t it? I know there’s a lot of unpleasantness surrounding the X Factor that we’ve never got to the bottom of and I never thought Strictly was like that, but when you look back there’s been a lot of questionable behaviour. Like James Jordan and Georgina and Anton calling Laila Rouass a vile racist name and I’m sure other stuff as well.

Absolutely!

My favourite moment ever on Strictly was Ed Balls doing Gagnam. Closely followed by Tony Adam's opening dance.

I love watching people like Ed, Dave Myers, Mark Benton just giving it their all and being fabulously entertaining. I'll take that over someone like Layton anyday.

I really wouldn't have expected one dancer out of many to have that kind of power. The judges, sure. But the impression I've got from this show is that the pros are far more replaceable.

It’s not a question of whether Graziano specifically held much in the way of ‘power’, though - it’s an issue of being seen to be a ‘troublemaker’, someone who won’t let things slide, won’t just go along with what everyone else seems prepared to accept, not looking the other way when confronted with something questionable or problematic.

Things rarely end well for whistleblowers, in any organisation. I completely understand why Zara of the junior staff member who witnessed this might wary about putting their head above the parapet.

I hate where in his statement, he say "My intense passion...."

This reminds me of when men hit their partners in domestic abuse situations... my deep love for you made me do it...or words to that effect.

I have to say I was shocked at the allegations when they came out, then even more shocked when it was Zara, if It was Vicki I could have seen it, as they just didn't click at all and that could have been the reason. Kym and Judi would eat him up for breakfast and break his legs if he tried to physically hurt them. I'm not a zara fan, can't stand anyone who calls themselves "Influencers" but I do hope she's ok and getting looked after by the right people

Ed Balls goes down as one of my most very favourite contestants ever. I look back and try to remember some of the *technically* best contestants over the years and I can only think of the few I loved on a personal level, everyone else blurs into one. Whereas the funny ones? I can remember in buckets.

Dancing on Ice has been terrible since Torvill and Dean stopped choreographing the routines IMO. Not sure if Karen Barber is still involved, but she competed in ice dance to s high level as well. You can tell the pros on that are useless. Most of them have back grounds in skating on cruise ships etc rather than in completions.

The thing I hate more than anything is the fake relationships between the pro celeb partnership. We are being urged to believe there is a romance so that people get invested in their “journey”. It is so cynical and a distraction. I hate that bit where CW interviews them with all the gurning in the background. Show needs a reboot. The thing that SCD had going for it, it was a proper Saturday night shiny floor family entertainment show. It has allowed the shite parts of life to intrude on something was escapism. The BBC has a tickbox of wants when it produces a show these days - it saps the joy out of stuff in a cynical way. It used to be a must see for me. Now I do other stuff around it and cock an eye in its direction every now and then. Pull the plug for a while. Or develop other programmes. Even Ant n Dec have thrown in the towel for their awful show.

What has stood out to me was the remark from production that many who saw the video cried afterwards, in which case it must have been shocking and very clear cut. If Julie has any links to production maybe they have passed on that it's very much real.
If it was that bad , would the police not get involved? That’s the confusing part for me. Surely they would have to now?
