I think we have to put some of it into perspective. We do expect the contestants to give it their all. We expect to be entertained and effort to be put in. I expect the dancers to be professional and to work the contestants hard to achieve decent standards for their ability and fitness. I can understand the professionals being annoyed if someone is late, not putting any effort in or messing everyone about (Nancy Dell'Olio, Jerry Hall ) and if they don't push a little bit the show would be quite boring.

What I don't expect is that the contestants are worked so hard they don't get breaks, pick up unnecessary injuries and left emotionally drained.

I still think even if the top people of Strictly weren’t aware of the Graz/Zara incidents they still need to take responsibility as they have created a culture of people not wanting to report abuse. Great power comes great responsibility and all that.

I wonder what the pros (minus Graz) WhatsApp group is like at the moment.

Shirley Ballas has some culpability in the pros pushing their celebs with her ridiculous expectations."It's week two now".... for goodness sake.

It's also ridiculous that Shirley and Motsi dish out 10's about ten minutes into the series. It was always the case that they started to appear towards the end of the series. Now if you don't get a 10 by week five you're rubbish. 'It's never too early for a 10 from Shirley' ... yes it bloody is and gives the contestant no where to go in terms of progression.

Easy to say that, but we all thought Graziano also came under that category until yesterday. For all we know those names you mentioned could have been utter horrors behind the scenes, we really don’t know these dancers at all.

Honestly I never got the hype with Graziano, I wouldn't have said he was capable of this, but I equally wouldn't have said I thought he was actively lovely to his partners, whereas I would have with the people I mentioned. Yes you are right I could be wrong, but I'm not psychic so all I have to go off is my gut.

Giving Eddie a 10 in Week 3 was such a joke last year. She hasn't a clue how to judge Couples' Choice.

The first I heard of Zara was a really good documentary series about a young woman called Gaia: Death on Dancing Ledge. That led me to a couple of other things she'd done, including one on revenge porn. I hope she has excellent people around her, she's a good documentarian and I hope her career progresses well despite this horrible situation.

Another thing to remember is the pros are dancers used to being taught but not had any/loads of experience of being teachers to people with no ballroom/ Latin knowledge.
They should have been better supervised and supported too (I am not condoning any abuse) just talking about training times, rest breaks, expectations etc.

God this is all depressing. The incidents themselves and especially the response to them. The physical intimidation is appalling but the spitting is so personal and degrading.
The response to this and others incidents recently have got me scratching my head and just plain furious
. He admits he has some wrong = why didn’t she report it/ she’s cheated before so must be her fault
. Is it 4 people who have reported issues with Giovannis behaviour including at least one that was physical = she’s a jealous witch who wanted to shag him/ Shirley the mean girl defends him to the press as he’s always been nice to her
. Kelvin writing in defence of upskirting not flagged in vetting process.
. Woman murdered by policeman =
police release advice to women about how to avoid being attacked. How about targeting men with how not to a rapi*t
. Mother and daughters murdered= Daily Mail lists how much their house cost, spends more time focusing on their famous Dad and includes neighbours comments if he seemed like a nice lad.
I know that the Graz/ Gio incidents are nit on that scale and it may seem a stretch but I think it points to a wider problem in society of victim blaming and putting responsibility for mens crappy behaviour on women. I worry about the messages young men are receiving about how women should be treated. And that’s before we me Jon the rise of the Andrew Tate’s of this world.
Much more of a rant than I planned. Apologies. Go and watch the football!

That's why I don't like couple choice. It's so subjective. At least if they're doing a waltz or a samba the judges have something to judge it by. I've seen some couples choices, especially the old barefoot contemporary tit, and gone off to make a cup of coffee.

Until yesterday the only negatives I had to say about Graz were he’s not a very creative choreographer and he has tit hair.

I think it’s a good point about teaching. Nikita was working at Motsis dance school in Germany and I think it shows as he has had 3 very diverse partners, formed strong friendships and got the best out of them all.

I wonder how Mr love the world Vito is dealing with knowing his ‘brother’ has done this? He is such a soppy sod I’m sure he is gutted. Then again based on this weekends revelations he is probably a serial killer in his free time who skins cats for fun.

Only on page 15 still catching up with this thread.
I’m sad this is all happening. I watch strictly every year with my daughter and go to the tour too. This year Graz stole the show for me- we had front row seats and he was a beautiful dancer just awesome and was beautiful to look at too.
However, the climate at strictly seems to be pushing people more and more at all costs I adore Vito but that dangerous stunt in the finale show was a risky for a professional never mind Ellie- that could have ended very badly. The choreography between now and back when it started is ridiculous and the must progress at all costs is damaging the show , putting a horrendous amount of pressure on the dancers and then in turn the celebs.
I really hope this is the end of all this now and there’s nothing more coming out we absolutely love strictly and I’d be gutted to see it get worse.

Probably why future pros should ideally have some sort of teaching experience or come from a foreign DWTS. Not just be hired because they're the hunk/bombshell of Burn The Floor.

No apologies needed. You speak sense and the truth 👏

I'm not sure that works. Graz did a lot of teaching - he, Giada, Arduino etc are all involved with a dance school in Italy and there were groups that regularly went over there to have lessons with him.
Gio also teaches a lot (viz, Bellend-o), and his pupils love him.

I think most of the pros have taught at various stages.

There's something specific about the Strictly power dynamic and the pressure that clearly has an impact, as well as the desire to make a splash etc.
