Never understand why grown men get called labradors/golden retrievers. I've never heard a woman get called that before. They just get called annoying, or attention seeking.

I hate it. It's funny how 'nice' men get nicknamed golden retrievers because awww aren't they so sweet? When what it really means is just a bloke being a normal member of society and not being aggressive or harmful. Can they not just be that without it being considered cutesy and adorable?

The more I think about it the more annoyed I am about Graz's statement (and I was a big fan before all this.)

He regrets "the events"? What he should regret is his OWN behavior but he's distancing himself from being the sole cause of these "events".

Then he softens his behavior by saying 'oh it's all because I want to win'. Which is either a lie or a sign of stupidity - he either knew she couldn't win or he's just so dimwitted as to be delusional. And as ablemabel pointed out, he claims it's just because he's passionate - typically a positive quality so again, he's defending and forgiving himself instead of owning up to the terrible things he did.

And then the sneaky little phrases - there was OUTSIDE influence at work here - and if only he could speak, he'd clear everything up (and he will later when he's able.)

The classic diversionary tactics of an abuser, imo. I think the statement reveals that he's a jerk.

You know there's articles out there that say he kicked her, hit her and spat at her? Not in her vicinity but that's what he did to her.

And like I said if he did do that there should be a police investigation and the producer who witnessed it should be sacked for failing to safeguard the contestants. The media are known for sensationalising things and then with Katya liking his post it makes you wonder if it is a clear cut as they have reported.

Why would you think they'd sack him so instantaneously if it wasn't accurate? Katya may very well not have seen any evidence so is (understandably) supporting her friend until she sees otherwise, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. You can't sack someone for gross-misconduct without solid proof or they'd be opening themselves up to a lawsuit and you really think the BBC of all people would risk that?

You would have thought all the other pros would have been briefed on what’s happened, plus you know how quickly word spreads, I’ve seen it myself at work, somethings happens and everyone knows even when it’s supposed to be confidential. The BBC know how much they are under the spotlight with the Gio situation so they have to be seen to act swiftly with a second accusation.

According to the articles, Zara has hired lawyers so who knows there might be a police investigation going on. Katya is allowed to like whatever she wants on social media, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. There are other pros who would be good friends with Graz that haven't liked that post. The media can at times sensationalise but they can't lie. They have said he hit, kicked and spat at her, if he didn't do those things he can sue them.

I do think you have to be careful with going from Graz alleged behaviour & comments of ‘all the pros must be like this’. Well, no. They don’t. And they probably aren’t. There is being arrogant, pushing hard & possibly a bit too hard in terms of how long they rehearse & verbal criticism but the vast majority of people do not get violent in any circumstances. And in the same vein as not blaming Zara for his actions, we absolutely should not pile on and assume any other pro, male or female, has physically abused someone.

There is no need to ‘cancel Strictly’ either. One or two peoples actions does not make an entire production. It’s one of the biggest shows the BBC have. They’ll be a lot more care this series I imagine, it’ll be heavily scrutinised. But that’s probably not a bad thing if it’s getting a bit OTT training wise. Maybe some lessons will be learned!

I wish people would stop questioning why they continued to be friends, Zara went to his shows etc. The abuser & victim dynamic is very complex and there was a big power imbalance in this situation too with Graz being a professional on one of the biggest shows in the UK and Zara being relatively unknown to the wider public and getting a big opportunity by being signed up to Strictly.

I'm hoping for the footage to be leaked, maybe that would shut up some of the people blaming her. Papers are reporting that staff were in tears seeing the footage. It's obviously really bad.

100% but there has been cases where the media have reported inaccurately and they have been sued so it’ll be interesting to see what happens next, if we do get a statement from the BBC or Zara herself. I hope she’s being supported as it will be a difficult time for her, especially as she was so vocal in her support for him during her time on the show and after.

I work in media. They can absoloutly lie. And frequently do. And they get frequently sued! The tabloid press are scum.

You're making lots of assumptions about lwhat was known and when. It could have only recently come to light after watching training room videos, we just don't know. What we do know is some unacceptable behaviour has occurred or he wouldn't have been sacked. Blaming anybody else is pure speculation.

It also doesn’t sit right with me the fact that he has kept comments open on his post and allowed everyone to jump on and blame Zara. If he truly regretted it he would make it very clear that he was the one in the wrong and that she shouldn’t be attacked. Maybe he will at some point but I won’t hold my breath. He doesn’t have to mention her by name if he can’t legally, but a line that said “I take full responsibility and would like to express my sincere regret to those involved/please refrain from blaming anyone but me”

I agree we shouldn't tar all pros with the same brush. I do agree they are probably very bossy/demanding as a general rule, but being a tough boss that is probably unpleasant to work with, is not at all the same as physical or verbal abuse. I'm all for innocent until proven guilty, but G has been sacked for evidence of the latter.

I can only have an opinion based on what I have read which is that a producer witnessed this but only reported it later as part of the Gio investigation and if that is true then the producer has failed to safeguard Zara by not raising her concerns at the time and allowing the partnership to continue.

I think it is best not to judge the validity of an event based on who follows who in instagram. If a crisis is happening is your first thought - oh let me go and unfollow so and so?

Okay I'm a Gio fan so I'm a bit biased here. But for months, half of thread has been "none of the Pros follow Gio and they all like Amanda's posts so he must be in the wrong". "Zoe doesn't follow Gio - he must have upset Richie".

I'm sitting here thinking - how do you have time to know this stuff??? Is there an alert everytime someone unfollows someone else on insta???
.
But seriously, I'm sure I wasn't the only person who skimmed yesterday headline snd thought they'd used the wrong photo - till I read the article!!!

What they're describing - kicking, slapping, SPITTING!!! Surely the police should be involved cos they're describing assault.
.
And all this from a guy everyone thought was a lovely, kindhearted labrador type of guy.

As a long time viewer I've always maintained that strictly isn't the happy clappiy one big happy family that it's makes itself out to be.

It's a steely eyed competitive reality show.

I mean last years winner was nearly dropped on her head - in the final!!!

As they say, a fish rots from the head down - so I think the ultimate person paying the price for this might be the producers.

It's a shame this is happening in the shows 20th anniversary year.

But it needs a reset - more actual dancing and less stupid set ups and VTs

However, I think this is the beginning of the end of Strictly.
