I don’t understand how it’s taken so long to come out?
I can understand why Zara didn’t say anything, she may have excused his behaviour at the time and there are lots of reasons she may have felt unable to come forward… but someone on the production obviously witnessed it for it to be raised now - why wasn’t this reported at the time?!

Not to defend him if he really has crossed a line of course, but Zara seeming to still like him months after the show makes me wonder if it's something where it's technically true that he hit her but not intentionally in an abusive way. Yes I know that sounds ridiculous but what I mean is, it reminds me of something a few years ago on DWTS Australia. A pro posted an instastory where his celeb was practising cha cha walks and he smacked her in the legs with an empty water bottle every time they weren't straight enough. There don't seem to have been any issues between them, they appear to still be friends, but I did think at the time 'hmm, that's probably technically illegal, even if she doesn't mind.'
Stockholm syndrome can happen to people.

If the Daily Fail has over sensationalised what happened between Graz and Zara, then I hope Graz takes legal action against him. That headline makes it sound like he beat her. If Graz doesn’t deny this headline in Daily Fail, then sadly I think what did happen is really quite serious.

Thing is it could be technically correct.

But there is a wide spectrum of types of kicking and hitting. So technically he probably did kick/hit her, but was it a full force thing or was it more like taps? Still wrong, but as always with headlines the context is missing

More allegations here. Allegedly he spat at her (!). And it's on video. Zara didn't complain but confirmed the story, and has now hired lawyers. Other celebs were aware (wonder if that's Ellie and Nikita as they all shared a dressing room)

This. I think the toxic culture and pressure of the show has a warping effect and can make the celebs think these things are acceptable, or if not acceptable, still forgivable. Especially if they're younger and less experienced. I can see him "apologising" on the lines of his statement: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you, I just wanted to help you win so badly, you want to get better, don't you?" Ugh.

That is appalling.

The thing is it depends who witnessed it. I said earlier how if it was a runner, a camera assistant etc essentially someone “low down” on the strictly ladder it could be really hard to have the guts to come forward and make an accusation against one of the professionals especially one who was well liked and well in with the producers. It doesn’t make it right but the fear of not being believed/being dragged into a dispute or losing their jobs would have been very real

I'm not sure I'd liken doing Strictly to being kidnapped, but then again, with so many stories like this, who knows. I hope Zara's alright, regardless of what happened.

The whole thing's just so confusing. On one hand he seems to be admitting fault and taking responsibility to doing something inappropriate, but the 'determination to win' line is so stupid I can't help but wonder if it's total bullshit and he's trying to deflect from flat-out abusive behaviour.

If it's really as bad as the tabloids are making out, it really taints the whole show. There's no way loads of other people didn't know and didn't care/covered it up. Ugh. The whole thing's just awful.
