Definitely not at the prime of their careers but Michelle Williams and Peter Schmeichel were pretty wtf for me?!

Surprised it even lasted that long. He never seemed that in to her and probably stayed this long because of the kid. When he nearly kissed Katya and said it was part of the routine nobody really bought it.

Yeah, two people who are a bit strapped for cash and in need of a boost to their public profile so decided to go on an ITV reality show, eh?

Same here and I'm not really someone who gets emotional easily.
Strictly and, in turn, Dancing on Ice helped me with a bit of escapism when I needed it.
It was like a little bit of normality returning and I will always be grateful to those who made it happen.

I knew Michelle Williams did it but I had no idea about Peter Schmeichel or Martina Hingis! They’re all much bigger names than Bill Bailey. He’s maybe one of the most accomplished contestants they’ve had but defo not the most famous.

I think we’re past the days of getting truly big names though, but this is a lot to do with how celeb culture in general has evolved as well.

I’ve been a die-hard tennis fan for around 30 years and to me Martina Hingis was a huge name, but both at the time and since it appears that a lot of people had/have no clue who she is!
So I guess you need to either specifically follow tennis or be of an age that you’ll remember the time of her huge media coverage for achieving so much so young.

Absolutely, I say this every year when people are complaining about the cast: the show has to appeal to everyone from children to the elderly, and to people who like anything including sports, music, children’s tv, ‘magazine’ shows, soaps, comedy, current affairs, etc.


I don’t watch soaps, the only sport I follow is tennis, don’t watch The One Show/LooseWomen/BBC Breakfast, the only ‘new’ music I’m vaguely familiar with is what my kids listen to, they’re too old for CBeebies/CBBC, etc., so I never expect to know who everyone is and I don’t understand why other people expect the cast to be drawn entirely from their sphere of interest.

Last year I’d heard of a grand total of FOUR of the cast! This year I’ve heard of seven so in my world this year’s lot are roughly twice as famous as last year’s. YMMV. 🤷‍♀️

Martina was just after the whole cocaine incident … and was at a time when the cast was split in half with an elimination in each half before they joined together. She had flu, I think and was first out.

Peter Schmeichel was fabulous, but then he did have Erin as partner and did well for such a big unit. His samba to Use it Up and Wear it Out was just everything but sadly seems to have disappeared.

I would give anything to see that again, it is one of my all-time favourites. There was a bit in the middle where he just stood still in front of the judges and looked like he had walked into the corner shop and was trying to remember whether he needs milk and bread or only milk 🤣

Even now, me & my husband only have to sing ‘one, two, three shake your body down’ to each other and we crack up and do the finger counting/shimmy thing.

The Daily Mail are of course running with it as a 'Strictly curse' story. Is it still a curse if the show finished nine months ago and he and Katya have barely seen each other since? Does the Strictly curse have an expiration date? Of course the comments are vile, and Katya is catching abuse, as per, for a situation that has zero to do with her...

Is it time for my perennial rant about how it’s always the woman’s fault and her hypnotic body parts if a man can’t keep it in his trousers, even if they are in different parts of the country and have had no interaction for months?
