My Frugal year / Clare Seal

This really says it all doesn’t it. Two drab and boring babygrows but GUYS! They are worth £100!!! Just shows her mindset has not changed AT ALL as she’s still obsessed with having all the latest brands. But as long as she keeps banging on about the ‘resale value’ she can kid herself she’s still a careful spender.

They look horribly wash worn/dyed 😬 the latter is obviously human error but I wouldn’t expect a premium (?) baby brand to age like that over its relatively short lifespan!

I can’t even tell you what brand they are… I don’t think I’ve ever looked at a baby sleeping bag and thought “oh god you’re so poor buying Tesco brand”. I don’t get why she is so obsessed with designer stuff. Her relationship with money is not fixed, that’s been proven recently with the worries about mortgage costs, no work etc because her spending is still out of control. She hasn’t learned anything and the minute money dries up, she panics as she lives outside of her means still.

They’re Baby Mori and Love to Dream sleep sacks. They are spendy, the Love to Dream one is £40.

I have just sold our Love to Dream sleep sacks as PFB now prefers a duvet but they were absolutely the duck’s nuts. Baby Mori is overpriced and I don’t get it.

What's with the 👀 emoji? It's almost as if she wants people to point out how non frugal she is with the price 🙄

Thought same when I saw this. After you pay for postage on Vinted she’d have been as well buying a brand new one from Asda or Tesco etc! And my 2 we’re always cosy and just fine in their non designer sleeping bags 🙄

I see a lot of this on instagram. People "saving" money by buying things they didn't need, at a discount. She has two older children. Does she not already own sleeping bags? Does anyone follow not needing new? She talks about being happy with "less" while constantly buying stuff from charity shops! Another person who is obsessed with buying stuff (tho much nicer than St Clare).

lol the bobbling on that Mori one is grim! Plus unless I couldn’t afford supermarket ones I’d never buy a sleeping bag second hand in case it came from a smokey home. (Anything that isn’t sleep or weaning related I try and get second hand tho). Baby Lava is perfectly happy in his Sainsbury’s bag lol.

Lots of people calling out the paying £27K off in to years, as she still seems to portray that this is totally possible on a typical everyday salary. Not the fact she fleeced others to pay her debts and has never actually ever repaired her relationship with money. If her instagram crashed, she’d be fucked.
Also most people can’t afford a £400,000 house as their first home.

Also she's clearly trying to avoid staying the obvious - it was the magic Instagram book deal that paid her debts 🙄

She commented saying she would do a video response to cover it, so imagine she’ll have to disclose it there. But yes it’s obvious the book deal enabled the debt repayment, she repaid ~£15k a year around the time of release but comes onto Insta to complain that she’s not managed a £10k emergency fund in the 4 years since? Because she’s not had big advances to support it and prioritises love every boxes lol.

There’s nothing wrong with the above btw as she earnt the money. But I think a lot of these debt influencers love to create an impression of themselves that isn’t strictly true?

She didn’t address it, she said that she got a £60K job in the second year and her husband got a £40K job but didn’t directly say that all the affiliate ads and the book deal had significantly helped with the debt. People aren’t stupid they know that her instagram paved the way for the influx of funds, she’s just so shady about it all.

I wonder what will happen with these people when instagram dies a death. Their income will plummet.

She does say her self employed income year one was £30k, year 2 £60k so it’d be fairly safe to assume that included the book advance/any royalties. She definitely didn’t spell it out but from what she shared can see why she’s stressing about that house.

Does she have a professional outside of insta? 30k doesn't seem a lot. It's a regular salary in my profession. 60k isn't that amazing these days either.
