My Frugal year / Clare Seal

What she really means is she doesn't want to pay for childcare to enable her to work. Most reasonable size towns / cities have multiple holiday clubs available. I too don't like paying for childcare but get on with it as I have to work.

She’s not short of a bob, every time she pans to her living room and kitchen you can see she’s gone for luxury options for baby equipment - Stokke high chair, a Catchy underneath, Totter & Tumble mats, Bugaboo pushchairs.

Absolutely no shade on choosing these brands as our PFB also has them but you can’t drop £600 on a pushchair and £300 on a high chair and then witch that you can’t organise nor afford holiday care.

Only the best for the golden child queen H 👑⭐

Here we go, moaning again. Just pay for summer holiday childcare like everyone else does, Clare.

I wish she’d explain what her actual issue is rather than all this word salad. Is it that she’s got no money for holiday camps? I thought her financial plan included £400 per month savings. Well, this is where your savings go in August when you’ve primary aged kids. Why didn’t she anticipate this? If it’s something else then I wish she’d stop vagueing about “overstimulation” and actually explain what’s going on in a way we could relate to (“I can’t be faffed with the park again so all three kids are bored and screaming at each other?”).

The summer holidays are long and yes it’s hard to cover it. But she acts like they’re this huge, devastating problem that came out of nowhere rather than something you plan for every year. If your career is meant to be giving financial advice to parents then honestly, this is basic. Her posts just seem to all be “this isn’t FAIR! I don’t like it!” without any actual tips or solutions that might be of use as a “money coach”.

This is her page to a tee!

Sorry to be outright catty but she seems in quite a financially precarious position and yet really obsessed with owning/consuming class signifiers? When she talks about savings it’s always her goals or what she’d like to have, or how she’s leveraging micro contributions (which I’m all for!), it’s giving scraping the barrel in terms of her financial content. The bulk of it is just spending in what she perceives to be a savvy way as it’s keeping up with the Joneses, on a budget?

With coaching - what is that, really? She’s not a regulated advisor and that shows. There’s plenty of TikTok accounts living the debt repayment nightmare rn that are freely available and more relevant to ppl in a mess in 2024? It’s all a bit bleak and aimless.

I don’t understand her post? Yes the 6 week holidays are hard, but they’re 100x harder for parents who can just drop ‘work’ for them and still be financially okay. Why are they only going to be a problem this year? There is so much woe is me, in beginning to question her financial state as she doesn’t seem as stable as she makes out. Are people beginning to see through her lies? Is work drying up? If she’s unreliable, don’t blame it on the children- that’s on her.

I think because the golden child will be in full time nursery next summer (lucky for some, being able to pay for it and not having to wait for the funding at aged 3 🙄)

Just wait, she'll contradict herself later with a post along the lines of "I'm not by any means moaning by the way. I'm lucky my work is flexible and I'm oh so blessed to spend quality time with H (and reluctantly the boys) and soak up all these precious moments with her 🥰"

And the next story goes on to say 'recover my career' what is she on about? Honestly i know its been mentioned a hundred times before, its like the summer holidays are new to her - isn't her olderst about 9 yrs old?

She makes out that her kids are such a burden to her - and she's sacrificed her 'career' to be a parent. How did she manage for at least 9 summers before?
Is her child minder term time only? She's agreed to that so she knew the implications before she even signed H up.

The boys are a burden to her. Golden child H is a whole different subject, "recovering her career" (haha) is worth it if it means golden moments watching dear little H grow 🥰🙄

She could probably have paid for a months childcare for H and playschemes with the boys for what the cost of an abroad family of 4 plus baby in school hols would have been. Especially as you just know she’s not in Benidorm or the likes of there lol

Yet earlier this year…

“We have over £1ook in equity in our home, and we can afford the repayments even at the higher rate. I'm actually a financial success - and I'm doing my best in a difficult economy, like most people”

She remortgaged in June so it’s only been two months of higher payments and she’s already overstretched to the point of considering moving 😂

As mental as this is, it explains this summer’s relentless complaining? We all thought it was bizarre she was moaning about not being able to work when she’s self employed so can manage her own time, but obviously something bigger must be going on? How odd.

Found the podcast ideation stories very weird too. Like don’t you have pals to run this stuff by? Professionals? Especially as it wasn’t even testing concept a versus b, short of asking someone to plug in the mics and edit the audio she was crowd sourcing the entire thing!

I guess a dramatic relocation would give her some actual content? Her posts are a bit lost and all over the place. She needs a hook! You gotta have a gimmick…
