Rhea Royce was very interesting in her few moments of screen time. Kings Landing was so sunny in early days of GOT but seems such a gloomy spot now. Totally agree about Matt Smith. I keep expecting more from Paddy Considine and Rhys Iifans. Not sure what but just can't put my finger on it.
 
More good old fashioned homophobia from GoT. I mean, I know the justification is that it reflects the medieval attitudes, but there are bleeping dragons in it! 😂 Plus there's plenty of POC characters now (which I agree with). Can you not just give us some representation before killing the characters off? At least wait a few episodes.

On other parts of the episode, Daemon is worse than I thought. Killing his wife off like that. :o Hopefully he gets his just desserts like Joffrey in the original series. The side switching will be interesting from next week. I don't really get the actress change to be honest - couldn't they have just aged the original actors a bit? Just seems odd to only age a small selection of them.

Still, I'm looking forward to the inevitable civil war with Aegon against Rhanaeyra. Though I suspect I won't want to back either 'side' as they'll probably both be thoroughly dislikeable haha.
 
I liked seeing how Lord Corlys and his lovely wife seem to love each other (a rarity in Westeros).

As for Ser Cristen umm he is a z list Jaime Lannister.

Love the Strong family. Allicent girl you are in danger but nice to see her take back some of her power.

Viserys is a nice chap but needs to retire on dragon stone and play with his models

The older actors were actually cast first, so it was always meant to be them. Plus for the continuation of the storyline, it would be much easier to age up an actress in their late 20’s/early 30s than a 22yo actress who looks young for their age. You could argue the use of CGI wizardry or make-up to age them but I imagine the show’s budget gets eaten up a lot by the dragons and sets.

I actually think that older Rhaenyra looks a lot like her mother, the late Queen Aemma.

It just shows what a great job the younger ladies have done with the characters and setting the story up that they will be missed.

Ohh thanks I didn’t know, that they were cast first. I think I’ve developed a soft spot for the ‘youngsters’ and will just be sad to lose them. I agree, older Rhaenyra does look like her Mother. I’m really enjoying the series so far.

In fairness all Outlander has done to age Jamie and Claire is put a few strands of grey in there hair!!!
 
I thought episode five really ramped it up a bit. It started quite flat and it's obviously really hard not to compare it to GOT. I was waiting for the roots to be set down as to why each family was at odds with the other. I think they've done that now. I looking forward to the time jump. I think Alyson is going to be a brilliant character.
