I thought this weeks episode was pretty good,- they are doing some scene setting for some major events in the future. Last weeks episode was so dramatic it was never going to top that. Game of Thrones was pretty similar in pace.

Agree with all the comments about Fabien Frankel's acting - the scenes with Alicent and Cole are painful to watch . They are so flat, and he mumbles so you can't actually hear him, he should be a major character in the show but feels like a side part. There are actors with smaller parts doing a better job, like Freddie Fox for e.g.

Were we all eager though? ;) I found the ending of GoT so butchered and beyond any repair with where they took the story and the characters, that I don’t even want to think about what happened next.
You weren’t interested in what happened to Arya? Just me then. I didn’t mind the last series of GoT. Yes, it was rushed, but Jon & Danny were never going to have a happy ending and she clearly showed signs of the dodgy family DNA earlier in the series.
This just feels so pedestrian in comparison. Even when they were laying down plot lines for GoT the dialogue and scenarios were far more engaging.

A lot of GoT’s dialogue in the earlier seasons was lifted straight from the books. Therein lies the trouble with HotD being an adaption of the story in a history textbook basically. Yes there are some iconic lines lifted from “Fire and Blood” but the in-between is all the writers. That’s why I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two. It’s never going to be the same.

I agree - there's significantly less base material for them to work from. Book fans will be upset regardless as even some of the narrators of the book are deemed unreliable. Also I think GoT had quite a few more acting titans in - Sean Bean, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley.

Emma is brilliant imo, and Olivia & Phia. Matt Smith is obviously Matt Smith. Aemond's actor must be doing a good job as whenever he's on screen I want to reach through the TV and curb stomp him into oblivion.

A relative of mine said Aemond was always “mewing” and my old arse has no idea wtf that means. 😂

No, I wasn’t. And I say that as someone who loved Arya, until nothing about her story made any sense anymore, culminating in her killing the freaking night king. I loved GoT and stuck with it to the end, but you could tell when the writers stopped caring about the characters and only wanted to write battles, dragons and jokes about cocks. The excellent writing of season 1 - 4 was never matched again and yeah, HotD doesn’t come close to it either. But the version of GoT we saw in those last seasons made it easy for me to say goodbye to those characters because literally nobody’s ending made any sense from where they started.
I don’t think HotD is perfect by any means. But at the moment it‘s still exciting to follow imho.

I honestly thought Jamie would die in the Battle of Winterfell, Arya would take his face and kill Cersei. Her killing the Night King came out of nowhere and not in a good way imo.

Haaaa he is. It just means he's always making little whimpering noises. It means your relative probs fancies him 😂
Every day is a school day 😂

Mewing is a TikTok thing... Aemond does resemble Bella Hadid though

Ahh, thanks that makes sense actually, he does look like her a bit 😂

I can’t with all these Gen Z terms, it’s like a different language altogether.

Seems i am the only one who hates aemond, i just don't like his body moves and gestures, alwasy too full of himself and feeling abive everyone
I don’t like him either. I prefer Daemon and he’s just a Daemon wannabe to me 😂

I'm really enjoying the whole series. I like the quieter episodes, the politics and back stabbing are some of my favourite bits.

It was never going to match GoT, that was (for the most part) next level tele IMO. I always expected HotD be less than its predecessor so never expected much from it, but so far it is exceeding my expectations and I'm actually excited each week for the new episode - can't remember the last time I waited for an episode to drop (probably Friends in the early 00s 😂)
