As much as I loved Rhaenys storming in on her dragon, was it just me or was it a bit underwhelming ending like that? What was the point if she wasn't going to just obliterate them? Or maybe just to establish herself as a power player? I'd love to know other people's thoughts!

Edit to add: This gives some good background info on Rhaenys decision.

I think it was her showing she could have killed them all but showed mercy? Not sure that will get her very far in the long run tho!

Also, round of applause for the casting directors. Ewan Mitchell has a face that was MADE for a fantasy series. He's like a proper story book villain come to life 👏👏

I seen as a mix of her being merciful after seeing Alicent protect her terrible son, knowing how it feels to lose children...and also a bit of, well she's clearly going to run straight to Rhaenyra and Daemon and the greens are going to now face the consequences of their actions...

Also...do we know if Corlys is actaully dead?? Will he appear again? Ill be a bit gutted if he doesn't...

I'm fully expecting Corlys to make a comeback. Otherwise why haven't they shown him? With GoT/HoTD it's all very calculated so I feel like there must be some reason why we haven't seen him so sick or on his deathbed.

Corlys most certainly will be back 👍🏻

Also, note Princess Helaena saying “beware the beast beneath the boards.” You could take that to mean Rhaenys riding Meleys out of the dragonpit. They seen to have expanded on her character to have the Targaryen “dreamer” trait. She reveals things that will happen through her prophetic musings. Like how when young Aemond was saying he’ll never have a dragon and Alicent was reassuring him. She said “he’ll have to close an eye”.

I need to pay more attention to Helaena. I never really notice what she's saying while I'm watching and then I come online and see all her amazing prophecies!

Another great episode though I was disappointed to not have a scene with Daemon or Rhaenyra. Rhaenys and Alicent stole the show.

OT but If anyone here can understand German there's a fantastic podcast/video on youtube from "Cinema Strikes Back" they do weekls episode discussions and it's honestly the best part about every new episode. Otherwise I think I would be completely lost with all the characters and details thrown at us.

I was screaming Dracarys at the screen! 😂

I was the same!! 😂 it would have solved a whole load of carry on if she'd just torched the lot of them!

I didn't quite get some of the writing for Alicent in this one? 😕 she was totally shocked theyd been planning without her...like, hun you've been telling him he'll be king for nearly 10 yrs!?
She was aghast at the thought of Rhaenyra being killed...again, whay did she think would happen? yet she still pushed ahead with Aegon's coronation despite his saying multiple times he didnt want it!

Couldn't really fight his logic in saying Viserys had 20 years to change his mind and didnt...

I don't think the deathbed change of heart/mix up is in the book. They seem to have added it to make Allicent a bit more likeable.

You’re right, Alicent is a very straightforward power player like Otto in the book. They’ve added dimension to her character for the show, made her more complicated than just the evil stepmother.

Rhaenys completely stole this episode I loved how she asked Allicent did she not dream of sitting on the iron throne , she's been pandering to men her whole life. I wanted her to burn the Greens at the coronation, mercy gets you nowhere in westeros it's why Ned Stark ended up getting killed. HoD has been breathtaking so much better than the latter episodes of GOT. I really hope the Jon Snow sequel gets the go ahead.
