Everywhere is on my bucket list 🤞

Top 3
New York
Cuba
South Africa, Cape Town, Safari

I've recently been to the top places on my bucket list so my new bucket list I'm finding hard to be inspired. Rather than exact places I want to go to I have things I want to do:
1. Swing with sting rays
2. I'll put these two together since I can probably do them in the same country if I picked the right one - husky sled ride and see the northern lights (either Lapland or Tromso)
3. Go to a football game in Argentina, there was a group tour I found a few years ago that included this but I don't think it exists now, I don't think I'd like to do it alone

Also going to Edinburgh in November for the Christmas market. Looking forward to visiting Scotland for the first time

I think I'd say my top 3 are:
  • Hawaii
  • New Zealand
  • Iceland/Tromso/Svalbard - basically anywhere to see the Northern Lights!
My issue is, I love travelling throughout the year so saving up money AND annual leave for the first two would require some intense commitment

I went on my first cruise this March to Norway to see ( amongst other things) the Northern Lights
was very fortunate to see them twice...went as far as Tromso but would love to go to Svalbard too
scenery was absolutely spectacular and it was a great way to see a large area in a very civilised way!
however I've since seen the northern lights 3 times from my back garden 🤣

We did Phuket and Khao Lak ❤

Have you planned it to the Nth degree or will you just go with the flow? We are very much go with the flow type holiday makers but I feel that might not work in NYC xx
Do you have any recommendations for Khao Lak? We’re going there for 8 nights in April, 3 nights in Bangkok first.

Normally book flights around now for a post Christmas break for January. We just look at what’s cheap and go for three or four night.

Just seen bargain flights to Istanbul fri- mon in jan, and the hotels appear to be really reasonable!
Tempted to book!
Has anyone been to Istanbul in January. I know it will be cold, not bothered about that. Just wouldn’t want constant rain.

I’ve got Sorrento and the Canaries booked over the next few months and I want to go to Rome either in the spring or autumn next year. I’d happily holiday in Italy for the rest of my life ❤ however I’m hoping to build up my confidence to travel to the US and have a week in NYC.

We have been celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary this year so have so far been:

Suffolk - nice hotel stay
Benidorm
Singapore
Maldives
Belfast
Rome
Suffolk again - lovely barn conversion
Chatham marina
Cruise on the Queen Anne

Still to go

Cape Verde
Aberdeen

Just booked Portugal for next year!

Lots of places suggested on here have now been added to my list!!

My husband has time off in January and wants go take the kids abroad as we've never been able to before. But where is warm enough at that time of year that doesn't come with a lengthy plane journey? I have had a google but prefer to hear from people who may have been somewhere!
The Canaries are always good for a bit of winter sun!

We are flying into LA next May, spending several days there then onto San Diego to stay with family. It’s a 2 week trip but my parents (who are flying out with us) & OH want to do a 1/2 night trip to Vegas. I have reservations as we’ll have our 7 year old with us.

Is vegas unsuitable for kids? Is it too much to pack into 2 weeks away with a child? In LA we’ll be doing Disney and Universal so full on at the start.

My parents are staying on an extra week after we leave so they have the option to visit however my OH is desperate to go. We want to start getting things booked/itinerary planned so I need to decide!

Would you feel left out if they went without you? Personally I don't really think Vegas is for children, it's very much geared towards grownups.
I'd compromise and tell them to go for one night whilst you and your child do something fun together. Plus this give's you a favour in your back pocket!

Hi,

Khao Lak is such a fabulous place. You will love it. Where are you staying?
We go to Khao Lak every year as one of our friends runs a bar there (Chang Bar - Bang Niang - if you need anything call in as they are always so helpful).
We are going back in January for 10 nights. Staying in the Chong Fah beach resort in Bang Niang.
I would recommend doing one of the day trips to Khao Sok Park We did bamboo rafting down the river, the water isn't deep so it was just really relaxing. We then had lunch in the jungle looking out over it which was such an experience. Our driver took us to a market after and around some of the buddhas. We got to stop at a temple that had some wild monkeys outside.
Loo up Khai Andaman on Facebook as that is who we booked through. they will pick you up from the hotel and take you back.
Memories Beach Bar and Nong Prew Beach Bar on Coconut Beach are worth a visit. White sandy beaches!
The tsunami museum is worth visiting too - you get to see the police boat which is where it was washed up by the Tsunami and its very surreal just to see how far inland the Tsunami went.
The market do some fab mojito's!

In Bangkok I would recommend the Lebua State Tower - the views were something else!

edited to add - if you go to the La Flora hotel in Bang Niang you can book to go on a sunset cruise and it was the most amazing thing I have ever done. The sunset and views were amazing.

It's such a lovely place, so honestly keep those names in mind as they will be more than happy to help. It was definitely what made our trip to Khao Sok Park much more personal and a lovely experience :)
I also recommend the sunset cruise from the La Flora Hotel in Bang Niang - the sunset you see out on the water was fabulous.
Every year we say it could be our last time for a while and then we go and realise it will not be our last time, just keep going back 😂
I think Thailand is one of those countries that it is hard to beat because the people are just the nicest people you will ever meet.
