Holidays #4 2024 onwards

This may come across as a bit noob but I've never been out of Europe:

Off to America next year. (Not decided quite where yet. Google suggests there's different time zones) Tips for staying in a foreign country with time zones being so different to what I'm used to? How to avoid jet lag? Also, I've got medication that I take when I get up and before bed. Would I take them the UK time? (It's an inhaler so it's not going to do anything serious if I forgot or take it late)

And do I take Dollars or is virtually everywhere card?

Any other advice would be great. But as mentioned, haven't quite decided where yet.

Id stay awake the first day don't nap just have an early night. Or last time I just got a flight that got me there around 8pm I think so I got some food and then went to bed so I was fresh for the morning, I don't remember raving any jet lag doing it this way. I notice the jet leg usually when I come home rather than when I go though.
For medication if yo I can change it I would do especially if it meant you'd have to wake up in the night to take it?

If it’s inhalers then I’d still take them before you go to bed. Asthma is often worse at night, which is why it’s prescribed to be taken at night.

It depends where you want to go regarding dollars. We barely take any now, but we go to places like Orlando, New York, LA etc

I don’t really do anything for jet lag, other than staying up to a normal bedtime on the first night to get myself into their time zone. It’s coming back to the UK that you feel it more.

I always travel with cash but have card as a back up. After my friends card got cloned when we were on holiday and had to be cancelled I don't know what she'd have done if she couldn't use my card

I’m an American living in the US (Florida). Yes, we have different time zones.

Most places accept card but keep some small bills with you for tips or small purchases from independent places (small independent cafes, market booths, etc sometimes don’t like to take cards because of the merchant fees).

I take medication every day. When I travel across time zones I stagger it. So right now we are in California about to get on a cruise tomorrow, and California is three hours behind Florida, so I will change the schedule by an hour a day for three days.

Let me know if you have any questions. We live in Florida but we are from California originally (moved to Florida earlier this year). We have also lived in Wyoming and Colorado. But not for long - long enough to know something about it anyhow.
