How many more muiltiples of people die in emerging countries due to preventable / treatable illnesses like tuberculosis or malaria? It's a bit rich people like brown (who was an awful chancellor) focusing on just the one thing. Him and Blair I wish would disappear.
He’s got a book to sell 😉

Perfect in a country with reliable weather but not in one where the weather is not so great.

Our last time away it rained all day every day with high winds. Would have been a washout had we not been allowed anywhere together.

The thing is though it's BS what on earth is more time going to do? They are destroying people's lives for what purpose.
Personally I’d just go inside. No ones going to know. We’ve been meeting up as a family for ages and there’s ten of us. Your allowed to meet six people inside in the afternoon then another six inside in the evening so doesn’t make any difference to risk of getting it 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is getting really silly now. This the 15th letter they have sent me, alongside 52 text messages and 3 phone conversations. I have opted out multiple times. If an ex partner was harassing me like this I'd be getting a restraining order against them.
Hi sorry late response and sorry if someone has already suggested this. I’ve had this also and I’ve opted out online (I’m pregnant and wish to wait until after birth). I’ve contacted my gp and asked them to take me off the mailing list. I also ended up blocking the the number they send the text reminders off. Should help keep them off your back for a while

He looks like a naughty schoolboy being told off by the headmaster , deputy head and a couple of head of years , he has been caught putting stink bombs under a teachers desk

Bet he sticks chewing gum under his desk :D

The government are going to have to change the way they do things. If they are worried about cases in the Summer we are utterly screwed as we get to the last three months of this year. They need to hold their nerve because they cannot keep restricting us.

Why did they give a date for full lockdown lifting? That was a huge mistake IMO because now people are going to start whinging about the unfairness of it all again because they can’t go on holiday abroad or a nightclub etc. It also adds fuel to the conspiracy theories. Life is nearly back to normal, it’s more normal than it was in January and way more normal than it was this time last year. I’ve often wondered how these complainers would have managed had they lived during WW2 when there was food rationing and aerial bombardment night after night?…🤔

I think perhaps they over-estimated the public's ability to understand the phrase 'not before' as in 'not before 21st June'.

Haven’t been on a bus since all this started but needed to today, got to wear a mask but was excited that no one can sit next to me as even in normal times I try to not make eye contact so no one does.

Well I’ve just sat down and there was a prerecorded announcement that as lockdown has eased you can use every seat now and sit next to other people 🙄

The only perk I was gunna enjoy on my sweaty masked up bus journey and I’ve missed the boat😅

Mine are still social distant and you can’t stand up anymore, love it 😂

All stuff you could do last June/July when positivity rate and deaths were higher and noone had had the vaccine...

... and just before we had the second wave. Hopefully the people that have to make the decisions have learned that lesson

I got a train for the first time in ages yesterday - just a small 2 carriage local train. It was backed and there didn’t seem to be any reduction in capacity. There were a couple of spare seats but I just don’t know the rules anymore so stood up as far away from people as I could. So awkward.

I am no conspiracy theorist. I trust science, had my vaccine and can see the break in the link between cases and hospitalisations/death. Our vulnerable are protected against serious illness.

But I feel we have been failed by a completely incompetent Government who have had no plan or clue at any point what is going on. And despite the threat of a varient they let us down AGAIN by allowing people unchecked from India into this country.

I am angry we have been let down so badly and I am worried for the future of building our economy back up if this goes on much longer.

You have to allow that Coronavirus has been an unprecedented (in modern times), massively complex and evolving situation that any government would find it difficult to deal with. However, I agree that our government has been spectacularly incompetent in almost every aspect. You would like to think that people will recognise and remember that incompetence. Unfortunately it seems to me that many prefer to blame scientists or actually credit the government with the competence to enact a conspiracy of some kind.

So it's ok on a hot airless bus to be packed in. 🤐

Sorry, you didn't get the journey you wanted. I have nothing but admiration for people "doing the right thing" in this weather on public transport.

For me it is the mainly about businesses.

Nightclub owners, people who work gigs (lighting, sound etc), hotels, pubs with table service only when for the euros they would normally be standing room only, and theatres that are operating at max 50% these are just a few people who will potentially never recover if they can't reopen next week

I absolutely understand the difficulties and frustrations of businesses that have been affected by the Covid restrictions. I know many have already failed over the last 15 months. Obviously any further delay is only going to increase the possibility of more businesses failing but why is it the 21st June seems to be being represented as a critical date?

Though on that, I'd not be entirely opposed to the idea of crucifixion of whoever was behind the decision to label it 'freedom day'.

On the basis that the phrase appears to have been first coined in relation to lockdown restrictions by Christopher Chope, Tory MP for Christchurch, peddler of Covid mis-information and the idiot who blocked the bill to make 'up-skirting' a crime I'd be inclined to support that suggestion

The reality of politics is that once you put a date down, it's a line in the sand. You can use as much bullshit as you like to add a caveat but it takes a stupid politician to think that any backsliding on a date will go unnoticed, even with said caveat.

Luckily for Boris Johnson, he's a really fucking stupid politician.......

Except we have vaccinated a lot of people now so it is a totally different situation to last year.

Because, as you keep pointing out, it was given as the earliest possible date that they would open/restrictions ease. These businesses are absolutely on their knees. So they need to open at the earliest possible opportunity

A positive thought I’m having is that there is hope when the next pandemic happens (in 100 or so years) the next generations will have learnt how to actually manage a pandemic and if their government tries the same tricks they’ll see right through it.
