It's so inappropriate on her end. Like consider the fact that she is these peoples boss and they are supposed to be on a work retreat with them. Then she has them all wear matching pyjamas and puts pictures of them all in said pyjamas on the internet for literal millions to see. Oh and she makes them play games, do face masks, make pizzas, and just generally fulfill the role of trained monkeys for her. Doesn't really seem like the kind of thing she needs to take her employees away from their homes and responsibilities for.

If any man did this to his employees it would end up straight in court or HR. Whatever A to Z is supposed to be, it isn't. It's just a couple of elementary school kids who like to pretend to be adults.
 
Are they getting paid for this?? like imagine having plans and having to cancel them to go away with your BOSS who is an overgrown child and being made to wear matching PJs. any social thing orchestrated by Zoe makes me think of the Sims when you throw a party and a box pops up in the top corner of the screen saying your party's rating "stinker"

Surely this is the sort of thing you would arrange for a bunch of eleven year olds, a sleepover birthday party. Maybe throw in a little disco too 😂

Sorry if this is too weird, but I’ve been thinking about this for a while - this reminds me of the writings of critics like Mark Fisher who talks about the 21st century's inability to escape the past, caused by a nostalgia for 'lost futures', that particularly affects those obsessed with materialism (Zoe and Alfie). Having realised that what she expected in the future (glittering celebrity/media career, family etc) is not going to happen, they cling to the retro, to the 90s, etc. They call it hauntology, i.e., being haunted by your past and lost futures. All this leads to depression, anxiety, childishness, etc etc.

I never really got what they meant by this, but when I see Zoella is makes so much sense - it’s her in a nutshell. Even the things they do are weirdly retro - playing cards and banging nails into logs. She is the best example in our culture of modernity’s inability to produce art that is new, and can only produce commercialised adverts masquerading as art. That’s my theory on Zoe anyway.
 
There’s speculation on gg that zoe and alfie are secretly engaged and these respective boys/girls trips they are on are stag/hen parties,I mean you just have to laugh😂 One,there’s no way big alf’s ever gonna pop the question and two there’s no way they’d keep that a secret, zoe would be the first to shout it from the rooftops.

I don't think that the employees hate there job that much they look pretty happy and are getting paid to go on holiday and do face masks sounds alright to me lol

I don't actually think Alfie would propose though not for a while any way
 
It's always weird to me that the only dynamic Zoe knows how to have with other people is "queen bee." Like she can't be a proper boss who maybe treats her employees to dinner occasionally. She has to have a high school-esque sleep over and be "besties" with all her workers and organize social events she has control over.

I wonder if it's a leftover mindset from the old YouTube era. All the Gleamers were kinda forced to be friends (or at least always act like it for the camera) and never just colleagues. But that tit is just weird once you become the boss...
 
I honestly think apart from making money YouTube/insta etc has ruined a lot of people, so many of them are stuck in a false world where they have no direction or take on real life. Zoe would have been forced to grow up, get a job etc if YT had not happened, her life I truly believe would have been better. Money makes life easier in so many ways, but it at the expense of your potential. So many of the gleam crew just got lucky and have now lost all sense of the real world.
