Zoe Sugg #70 Ottie & Dotty, are names that drive you potty

Why do you think they’d hold her back a year? Just to keeping vlogging as they said they’d stop when she starts school?? It’s unusual to hold a child back from starting school in England, especially as Ottie is clearly bright and would easily keep up with her class even though she’ll be one of the youngest.
To be fair it’s much more common since the guidance changed a few years ago and anyone with a summer born can request to delay the start.
I feel like they would have already had her in proper preschool by now if she was attending school in September.

I'm probably saying nothing new here... but I'm going to say it anyway.

I've noticed that Zoe really thinks she's 'special' - as in she'll often say 'Does anyone else get this?' or 'Is it just me or...?' and Alfie often responds with 'I think that's really common'. He did it in today's vlog about drinking. She always does it when she's describing the most mundane thing.

A vlog of hers from 18 months ago autoplayed after today's vlogmas and she says 'I get this thing where I look at a photo and am just transported back to that time' and like... that's the magic of memory, Zoe.

Also, again, nothing new but her obsession with constantly looking back at the past is beyond nostalgia. Nostalgia is enjoyable for most people, it's why so many ads use it etc. But for her it's pathological. I mean, Alfie had a lovely childhood (or so he's said) and he's not constantly trying to recreate it down to the programmes he watched as a kid etc. It's so bizarre.

She thinks she’s very special.

Why are we so obsessed whether or not this child goes to nursery or not?! Neither of them work therefor they clearly have enough time to not send her, so can we just stop the discussions please 🙏🏼 nobody cares & it’s giving mumsnet 😭
It’s not about offloading your child to nursery to spare yourself some time, although i’m sure a lot of parents do benefit from this, it’s about socialising the child before school.
I wouldn’t call anyone obsessed about it. It’s a discussion board.

Not wanting to derail the thread but just wanted to say children can socialise by going to regular toddler/ play groups when they are too old for toddler groups, it doesn’t necessarily require nursery to develop good social skills before going to school. Going to groups requires effort from the parents but groups like that can be hugely beneficial too.

Splitting hairs - nursery/play groups/toddler groups and such a like - for the purpose of socialising the child before school - Yes.

Was that maybe from when she fell and went to the hospital a week or couple of weeks back? Remember reading it on here but someone is free to correct me. I didn’t see anything mentioning stitches but again happy for someone with more info to correct me.
Ah! Thanks. Missed that

Aww it's gutting Zoe won't take Ottie and Novie to see their own great grandmother! Imagine how much their great grandmother would love that! Of course she got an instagram pic of her already so doesnt feel it fits 'content'
Imagine having a grandma in her 90's who you had a close relationship with growing up and just not bothering to spend time with her? She might not have many Christmases left. It's so sad. Plus not taking the girls to see her.
