Elizabeth Day's 'exciting news dropping at 10AM don't miss it' was that she's doing a talk with Phoebe Waller Bridge on her book, Friendaholic. About being addicted to friendships?? Which to me just smacks of bragging about how many friends she has! Dunno if she realises most of her audience are not wealthy 30/40 something luvvies in the media industry living in North London with friends on tap. She seems so out of touch with how most people in the country live.

That is her audience though 😂 I swear most of us on this thread are poor 30/40 somethings in the media industry most of who live in London- nobody else cares about or consumes LL content. We need something to aspire to, but is it her? This is the sad thing about or demographic and generation- we’re a bit lost.

Is Elizabeth still friends with Phoebe W-B? I think someone on this thread said she used to go out with Phoebe’s brother

I don't fit those boxes and I consume LL content! god knows why..

You are kidding.
This sounds like the start of an extended comedy skit.
I googled it: "Friendaholic: Confessions of a Friendship Addict tells the story of one woman's journey to understand why she's addicted to friendship."

What on earth could it possibly mean to be addicted to friendship? Was she bribing women at the school gate?
Didn't we all collectively realise that having 2000+ facebook friends was probably not a true reflection of your social life in about, I dunno, 2012?
Is there no end to the naval gazing as a source of writing?

Did any of you listen to Pandy’s new podcast? I like her as a podcaster.
As someone who almost exclusively reads paperbacks (and therefore rarely new releases), I love the premise of the podcast. Seeing the same new titles promoted across socials gets tedious, and reading gets turned into yet another consumerist sport. I'm hoping they cover authentic personal faves - as in the less prolific, uncool 'guilty' favourites that speak to them.

Pandora does well when she's not self-consciously trying to be perceived as a serious journalist. This podcast is very much in her wheelhouse.

So sick of these people talking about their busy “work”

tonight’s exhibit: Scarlett Curtis calling herself a workaholic 🙄

Did anyone see Scarlett's post from a few days before that along the lines of 'have just been bought a house because nepotism and my parents have decided to buy one around the corner'?

Didn't the entire family move to LA while Scarlett was working in the writers room for a TV series? I find it all very enmeshed and strange.

Yes! They seem very co-dependent on each other.

I don't know what to make of it all tbh. I know Scarlett moved to NYC to go to university there a few years ago, I'm surprised they didn't follow her and move into a place just round the corner there as well?!

I know she had/has a lot of medical issues and anxiety and so on, but isn't the whole point of living independently to get a better grasp of yourself rather than having your parents next door as a safety net you can run to as soon as you see the first hurdle?

I get the impression that Scarlett is quite a lonely person, what with referring to her parents as her best friends and so on, and all this property stuff. Not to mention the half a dozen other people I've seen her use the same term to describe, like Saoirse Ronan, Jameela Jamil etc... Just how many people *can* you call your best friend?

Actually I'm pretty sure they did move to the US with her?!
