Hi everyone!
Just started trying for a baby, my period can be irregular, my average cycle is around 40 days.
I have bought the easy@home tests and downloaded the premom app.
How often should I take the tests?
Am I best to take them in the morning?
It usually recommends on the app when to start taking them. If your period is irregular I'd take them every day, once a day from when your period ends. Then do it two or three times a day when you think you are in your fertile period. Two is usually fine (morning and evening) but last month I did an extra one last month which got my peak (as sometimes it's only a few hours) - I trusted my instincts and was right. I stop testing once I've hit my peak. But if you are more irregular you might want to continue because sometimes you could get multiple peaks in a month. Good luck! X

Hi all. This is my first month TTC. Realistically, how soon can you take a pregnancy test? I have a regular 28 day cycle. As this is my first month I'm not tracking ovulation, although have loosely paid attention on Flo. I have obviously googled but just wanted to ask on here too.

I am 9/10 DPO today. I have been extremely crampy (similar to period cramps) since yesterday with very sore boobs (always sore before period but this feels excessive) and some white CM today. I don’t want to get my hopes up but I really hope I am pregnant 🫣

Pregnancy tests measure the pregnancy hormone hCG. Most tests have a sensitivity of 25mlU/hGC and early response ones pick up levels as low as 10mlu/hGC. The charts below show how the hormone develops and then the accuracy by day (though the second doesn’t say what sensitivity it is). So in theory you can can get a positive up to 6 days before your period but it might not show until the day you expect it or just after. If it’s not positive by then, you're unlikely to be pregnant.
I test early and get 10mlU/hGC ones in bulk from Amazon for about 10p each or savers/b&m “clear and simple” early response, the same sensitivity for £1. Your first wee in the morning with have the biggest concentration of hGC.

One Step 30 x Highly Sensitive 10mIU Pregnancy Test Strips (Tests up to 6 Days Earlier) https://amzn.eu/d/9Cb2WrR

I use these. They have mixed reviews tbh but have been accurate in the sense that I’m not pregnant yet and I’ve never had a positive! I can’t help but start testing from about AF-6 days though so it’s almost like it’s peace of mind then I’d test with the £1 clear and simple one if I were a day late and still getting negatives. If I didn’t feel compelled to test so soon and could wait it out i’d just use the clear and simple, they’re great. I used them to track a MC and they were accurate as can be. I did once get a faint line when not positive with them but it came out after the alotted time and I don’t know if it wasn’t a chemical.

Thank you! I’m always changing my mind if I want to test early or not. The other month I’m not sure if I had a chemical, so I think now I’d rather know. I love the ultra early digital CB ones but they’re so expensive!

So sorry for all the questions but I'm new to this and not sure where to start.
I received my easy@home ovulation tests today and just done the first one and the app said 0.65 low. I'm currently on cycle day 21 (my average cycle is usually around 35-40 days)

Both Flo and Premom have my ovulation day in 2 days. When should I next do an ovulation test?

Do them daily. It could go from low one day to high the next. I usually test twice per day when I get high until it says peak x

Eta - the ovulation days on Flo and Premom or any of the apps are just a guess and I've found are often wildly inaccurate compared to my actual tests so don't rely on the app too much. It really is best to test daily and go from there x

Thank you so much that's very helpful!!

I’ve never tried to TTC, but my sister has and nothing has happened for over a year. She’s been to the doctors etc for tests, and she had her first appointment today at the hospital for the ultrasoundy test thing (technical term, obvs 😂) to see why nothing has happened. They fell pregnant with their first child very easily so I know this is new territory for her. I want to get her a present of some sort but I don’t know what would be useful - do any of you have any ideas? Theres the usual chocolate/flowers etc but that just feels a bit…naff?

That’s basically my exact story. In her position I would love a day out, afternoon tea or a spa session together

You’re a wonderful person x

Second the self care day. If she's into it a really nice blank (rather than with prompts) journal or diary might be nice, to record how she's feeling. A little note like "I won't always understand but I'll always listen, in the mean time, if you need to get anything out".
You sound understanding enough not to consider it but do just be careful to avoid anything that says "enjoy your baby free time" like alcohol, anything that's like a consolation prize might not be well received.

Both Flo and Premom predicted my ovulation date today. Using the easy@home ovulation tests my TC levels yesterday were 0.26 and 0.09. Today it was 0.18. Do you think they have got my ovulation date wrong?

Yes, the apps are almost always wrong for me tbh. Some months they've only been out by a couple of days but others they've been wildly inaccurate

Although, I do have irregular periods so I appreciate that makes it harder to predict

currently waiting on my colposcopy results to come back (smear) before i can start trying which is stressful as I'm ready to start trying again:( I've just had my implant removed but my periods haven't come back yet for me to track them on the flo app which is also frustrating!

Hello all! 😊 I hope you don’t mind me joining, I’m having my copper coil removed on Thursday to start TTC. I’m very new to it all, don’t quite know where to start but I’m hugely aware it often doesn’t come to people as easily as some would believe. Sending positive baby energy and hugs to you all x
