I do think it’s weird that there isn’t much more talk about WHY they are doing some of those visits. I get the UN engagement and the school (P&G donation) but the One World Observatory and the restaurant? Why did they donate to this particular restaurant? It looks like the “royal” sightseeing and visiting the poor that we often see. But honestly, if the US is happy to role out the red carpet for them that’s their choice. Heck, they can put a crown on their heads if they like it. Even make them their own personal royals. As long as they (H&M or the US) foot the bill they can do whatever. Jokes on them as far as I am concerned. And if they want to enable H&M to play royal it really has no impact on the royal families of the world.
Fashion wise, well that’s very clearly a case of dress to impress. Power Boss Lady is in the house. I don’t think it’s the worst choice and she obviously tries to disguise some of her pregnancy weight. But I don’t think it looks bad. I do hate the sleek, middle parting business bun on her (and almost everyone) but I have always preferred the messy buns. But maybe people will finally accept that her hair looked always as intended (hello hairstylists anyway and the idiot hairstylist that underestimated the pull of her veil on her wedding day was a pretty singular moment) and she isn’t a poor victim to her black hair/racism because she cannot help it. To underestimate wind or humidity/dryness is a pain in the ass for almost everyone no matter what hair they have. Another thing that Kate had to learn as people bitched she should tie her hair together more because she looked ruffled/unkempt/inappropriate in windy conditions.
And yes, Kate has gotten enough criticism for both wearing expensive designer clothes when visiting with children or underprivileged people or doing the exact opposite: dressing to cheap/bland/boring when that’s those people one chance to meet a real royal. The tabloids have just given up on her for M. After ten years writing about Kate it must have become boring. I think they had been through every headline twice at that point.
