Yes I live near there. It was diverted just as a piece of sibling rivalry to show up Harry. Who does that? It wouldn't surprise me if the pub photos are the same. Harry isn't even in the RF anymore and his brother is still being petty!
But is he? Because you could make the same claim the other way round. I don’t think any of them is overly invested with their own PR in terms of what the others do. There will always be pap shots or engagements close to each other. But this sibling rivalry is probably way hotter in the tabloids and forums than in reality. I think it is more of a Cold War. The BRF purposely avoids mentioning them if possible and H&M have stopped talking about the BRF nonstop too. Both parties can easily stand next to each other on their own in my opinion. H&M as celebrity philanthropists and the Cambridge’s as (future) Head of State.

Wasn’t that a PR stunt by the airline? The Airline knew they were going to be on the flight and wanted the Flybe logo on display. They were getting on a commercial flight either way, whether it was LoganAir or FlyBe doesn’t really change anything.

It was a PR stunt by the Cambridge team. The story was initially reported as down to earth Will, Kate and their family taking a budget flight-unlike those elitist hypocrites H&M who take private jets. The story was also framed as if they booked an ordinary flight that was going on its usual route, they even reported that there were ordinary passengers from the public on the plane.

One year later it was found out to be a PR stunt and that the plane was re-directed and empty. Probably to avoid admitting that they tried to show up H&M they re-framed the story as the stunt being soley for the purposes of promoting the airline.

This guy who is known as a political spin doctor was thought to have been behind the idea for the stunt.

I agree they can and should both do their own thing, so why don't they take the high road? They will be heads of state, whether we like it or not probably. We hardly ever see pictures of the Cambridge children, and now we suddenly see them just doing ordinary things, at a time when M&H are being criticised for being flashy? That stunt with the planes I bet cost The Taxpayer £££. The Royals are obsessed with their own PR and how popular they are with the public.

I don’t think the actual press took the pic of the Cambridge’s. that looks like it was taken by someone’s camera.

i am aware they often eat with the children in a local pub in Norfolk. The pub staff are all under strict instructions to leave them alone (bar excellent service)

It was blatantly taken by the nanny and then given to their PR team to feed to The Sun or whoever. If a member of the public took it no UK newspaper would dare touch it

@Jkay do you have evidence that their nanny took the photo ? Saying if a member of the public took the photo the press wouldn’t touch it I dont believe is true either.

personally I hadn’t made any connection between the flurry of H&M pics show casing their philanthropy to one singular pic of the Cambridge’s eating out with their family.
I’ve heard in a few documentaries that it’s this unspoken rule that British newspapers don’t take photos of the children and with the rise of social media and camera phones they would be inundated with photos of the children but they are hardly ever posted.
The guardian has an article discussing it https://www.12ft.io/https://www.the...g/14/prince-george-paparazzi-row-royals-press

There’s been photos of Kate Middleton pushing George in the pram that were released in the American media but nothing was ever published here. The Italian gossip magazine Chi is notorious for publishing photos of the children and Kate when she was pregnant on the beach.

When was the last time you saw a candid pic of them published? You don't even see any sneaky pics of them taken and uploaded to Twitter which is unbelievable considering everybody has a camera in their pocket now.

The only real candid pic I remember is the topless one! There were some staged ones in Waitrose Anglesey iirc

I’ve heard of the unspoken agreement but that’s about the press harassing for pics. What we don’t know at this stage, was whether the photo was taken by joe public on a camera phone and submitted to the Sun. Remember the press are not fans of the Sussexes and they too have their own agenda.

When and if it comes out the pic was staged then I’ll happily apologise for thinking the Cambridges were innocently eating their pub lunch

Were the ones in Angelsey staged? I honestly don’t know and always assumed she was doing her shopping like everyone else.

I do think that like most very famous people, they get left alone because people either feel embarrassed to try take pics or if they (the Cambridges for example) do get papped, and know, ask them not to release it. Diana used to take the boys to M&S high street Kensington and whilst camera phones weren’t the norm then, it’s certainly a touristy area for people with cameras. I don’t think we ever saw pics of the boys walking the high street(but could be wrong).

They must be allowing these things to be published though, at least the press ones because if they didn't want them published, they would withdraw access for the Royal Rota to pictures ofvthe children. William is also not shy about issuing a lawyers letter to the press.

I have to admit, I’ve always felt the ‘close’ brothers was more a media/PR construct than actuality. There was a period of time when William and Harry fell out and didn’t speak for a good few months before either was married so it’s probably always been edgy.

I think the RF is extremely competitive, both within the actual members and the members of their households. If someone comes back from a Royal Visit with an extra cuddly kangaroo, I bet there’s hell to pay.

Why would anyone from the family get a medal anyway? (And yes, Andrew is really the last one that deserves one.) Why not give out 70 medals to people having done outstanding things in those 70 years. This could include old and young people and cover several fields (health, politics, art, environment, military, emergency services, education, wildlife….). 70 people that shaped or benefited the UK and it’s citizens alongside her.
That’s such an easy no brainier for fantastic PR.
They really are their own worst enemy. And then you can still pin a bow with a miniature portrait of yourself on your family members. Just don’t make a big thing out of it. They wear it so seldom, it would take the public quite some time to catch on. Those “anniversary” family orders are just pretty but don’t hold super special meaning to be honest.

Unless they’re slowing allowing them more access as the kids get older. Prince George is 8 so needs to start being made more aware of his position and the odd camera and photograph here and there can be used as some form of teaching opportunity for Kate and Will.

It is a commemorative medal which 400,000 police and emergency services members will get as well as every living member of the royal family. It is not an award to Andrew as such
