Yup :) I've probably seen you in there (under different names of course).
Even in the resort threads the problem children will come in - they're there to make sure they have the best room request, know all the tricks to get the most out of the resort and wonder what rules can be bent. I answer them with facts and they quickly get the vibe that the resorts are not for abuse and leave the thread. It's nice.

Don't forget when they advise people to hand out painted rocks to Dis employees for exemplary service since they can't take tips.

I'm sure you have. Totally different name here than there... I was very active 2018 to early 2021....

The funniest thing I found was in John's words of something like it's a growing and flourishing business. When having to buyout your business partner, you might not want to put a statement like that in which Pete and his Lawyers can grab on to the value being higher than what it is worth to get a bigger payout! Not a great business strategy for John!
I think you are correct, although I would think this situation would present a huge loss of value to a company.

LOL, They've got rock for brains if they think that'll make a cast member's day. I don't think I've had the pleasure of running into that one piece of "advice". I wonder if any CM ever created a collection behind the counter.

Pete will never allow himself to be canceled. As far as I'm aware he still owns the Dis.

I believe he still has a hefty financial involvement in Dreams Unlimited too.

I feel very skeptic about John’s statement. How do we even know its true? And are we sure Pete is still not making any money of us booking travel and watching their youtube?

not sure I trust his word after he knew all these years and looked the other way. If this hadn’t blown up as much as it did, would he have removed Pete just because Dustin and Sean spoke their truth? Doubt it

I'm also interested to know if John makes Pete sign a non-compete. We all know that no matter what sum of money (if they even really buy him out) Pete will go through it. I can not forsee him being financially set for the rest of his life. So interesting to see if after some time passes if he will start another company or another channel. He also loves the lime light so I cant see him staying away forever. He has some a class a hole stans who would follow him,

I don’t think he would lie but I think “being divested” can be a long drawn out process and doesn’t mean anything definitive. We don’t know if they are simply buying him out (how will they agree to the valuation) or if there will be a payment plan or percentage of future travel etc. I am not even sure if they would announce once he’s fully removed unless numerous people start cancelling trips stating they don’t want Pete to take the commission.

I’m sorry, but I read that as sarcasm. they’re clearly making a joke, right? they said it’s the exact same people in both places.
Yes! I totally got the joke

I'm not sure how many people will be cancelling trips. If they have stuck with DUT throughout the years even with their crappy website and service, I think they are just blindly devoted to the brand, and are just too stupid or lazy to plan their trips themselves. Oh I forgot, they're also probably addicted to those fairly priced, economical ABD trips.

I was pretty active on the boards, as you can see from the Dis thread posted a few pages back. That was me, getting slammed by Werner for asking about Walter’s welfare. I was censored, temporarily banned to the point I stopped watching or participating. I know of many others who were perma banned for speaking out.

I’ll say it again. They knew and the protected him for years.

But gay men do this? As a form of reclaiming words that are derogatory. I think misgendering each other counts, correct me if I’m wrong.
I'm not even considering his sexuality. That's a non-issue just like him being from New Jersey is.

Generally speaking, people take pride in their work and they want to be treated as such. To have a superior be openly condescending is a slippery slope. Where do you draw the line? Can you be condescending to them? Humans are moody, and one day that might be funny, and the next it could be insulting. It's best for everyone to remain professional, but especially the people in charge. Once the professionalism goes you've created an environment for all sorts of anxiety inducing situations. I know it seems small, but it's really not.

I read that Amex is suing Pete for $900,000. Is it him personally, or his LLC they're after? (Did Pete use a company card?) If the LLC then there is no way to just divest Pete and be done with it. Amex will take and win in court. If the company cannot come up with the funds to pay the bill it will be taken and sold. Everyone employed would be at risk of losing their job.

$900,000 makes my heart stop. I'm down to owing just $60K on my home and I'm still overwhelmed. I just can't fathom running up a debt like that.

I'm a formerly active member over on the DISboards and I can attest to the opposite to what is being said there. While there are a few intelligent, well mannered and friendly people over on the DIS (I still frequent one thread with nice people I've gotten to know) the bulk of them are there only to make sure they get what they need and no one one-ups them. They don't hold back on attacking anyone who does not add to what they need.

Very true! Some facts:

1. The victims posted here and shared the stories! WHY? In part due to the long history of censorship led by the Authoritarian Moderators on the other site.
2. Bullying and thrashing existed on "that other site" for many years well before this was site was even created! This has been confirmed by many long time users of that board.
3. Several of those on the other site are still taking the position of Appeasement.
4. There are good people on that site - and the support for those victims is very clear and strong. This is directed at those on that site with the moral superiority attitude who need to look at the history and conduct of that site.

Dreams is trying to get out of the Lawsuit. It appears that Pete got the card through his credentials as an DU owner without the company knowing he got the card and using it for personal purchases/cash.

I used to post regularly but stopped contributing to anything but a couple of the Resort threads to answer questions mainly due to the mods being so bitchy (especially in the Theme Parks thread).

Examples of posts:
  • A post about how to earn money for a trip. The OP was thrashed for suggesting she/he needed money more than them.
  • A person offering hints on how to cheat the refillable cup system went viral with praise. ... They're sick to the point that they caused Disney to change the system entirely.
Here we do have some mean folk who exist for spite, but for the most part what I see are humans with brains calling out and trying to figure out crappy behavior.

I was a member way back (I think I joined in 2006) when planning one of our first trips to WDW. I haven't been on there in ages but do remember the rabid members defending Disney to the bitter end. I also remember when the censorship started and the admins started banning everyone for every little thing.

If I had any desire to book Disney I would be poaching clients and agents hard

Fun days! One moment the place is buzzing along, the next half the members had been cast from the site. I still to this day have no idea how that hammer missed me even when I reached out to the developer to ask what they had done.

Out of the flames new life was born and we now have some decent sites for real information. I like WDWMagic for the construction permit discussions.

I have a DCL cruise booked through DUT in the middle of next year. We went with them because they have a generous on-board credit package. Problem we have is that I'd LOVE to leave them now, but everything I've researched says that Disney doesn't allow the transfer of reservations from Agency to Agency (I imagine this is to prevent poaching of reservations). It currently appears that our only recourse is to fully cancel, wait for money to be refunded and then rebook (hoping that our rooms don't get sold in the interim). Also, it's likely that the cruise will be more expensive now (they increase the price as the ship fills).

I'd imagine many of DUT's customers for the foreseeable future are in the same boat I am (pun not intended)
