The crowd weren't good, but I didn't think they were that bad either - they did support her when she got a good shot. Sure the going crazy over a double fault is uncouth, but expected. If she wasn't so bothered by it she could have won.

Am I alone in finding Medvedev style of play - annoying to watch? He stands so far back on receiving service, and at times every shot he plays looks like a struggle for him.
I can’t enjoy his matches and have never watched a full one.

Yeah honestly I don’t think they were that bad. I don’t recall hearing boos or anything like that which often happens at USO. I’m also not sure what she was expecting given that Coco was playing to win her home championship, never mind anything else. The crowd definitely cheered Saba when she made good shots. It was a great match, I usually avoid watching Saba cos I find her so noisy but I’d be a hypocrite bc I watch Alcaraz.

to be fair he looks like he’s struggling before he even starts the match sometimes, i have never seen a player look so instantly exhausted (on the outside at least). like me any time i need to partake in any kind of exercise 🤣

He does always look shattered! Obviously the heat at the Open is draining, but yes - always look like that. Running around the court like a baby giraffe..

I think Daniil is known for his style of play, which aesthetically is the opposite from, say, Federer who rarely showed any sign of exhaustion and was just generally an elegant player (god, it sucks having to talk about his playing in the past). It's obviously still very effective :D Daniil has had quite a good season this year, so I hope he can win tonight.

You'd never teach someone to play how daniil does, but it works and he's one of the best players of his generation.

Every frame of him on the court is like a work of art.
Beautifully put @Yel :D
I love bis dramatic self; he’s not an asshole. He’s usually right when he rants about something. Also, funny as hell when he gets into talkative mode during press conferences. Which is every time.

Saw the video of Sabalenka going back to the players' gym post-final. She smashed her racquet on the floor, calming walked to the bin and trashed it.

I'd be ecstatic if Dan could win tonight. Not just because I love him but because I can't stick ND.

It's the way Sabalenka looks at her racket before smashing it 😆

I think Djokovic picked up new fans during covid. He'll have a fair few vocal supporters there.

A lot of support for Novak on daniil's double fault.

It's silly that they always make a thing of Ashe being so big. It's too big. If I lived in Queens and the tickets were cheap I still would rather stay at home than watch from the nosebleed seats. There's a reason why no other court is anywhere near as big.

I can only follow via live score, and I have to go to bed anyway, but that looks depressing already. Good thing that Daniil usually goes through 15 different stages of ability in a match like this, so he's probably going to come back at some point.

Think Djokovic has got this. Too many errors especially on his serve from Medvedev. I turned on after about 20 mins and the very first thing I heard was Martina going on about how women get penalised for time more than men. Yawn. Lots of celebrities in attendance although I only recognised a couple. Maybe I'm getting old or maybe being a celebrity is a little easier these days.
