Ted Lasso

Husband was selfish enough to be away yesterday so only got to watch it just now.

He was disgruntled cos there was less and less Ted but I enjoyed it for all the reasons set out above. Uncle’s Day was a genius idea as was Dani’s character transformation.

I’m also happy there’s no more Jack and while I’m not unhappy about Roy (Kent) and Keely I just feel it’s all a bit poopah for Jamie who really deserve someone to love him.

I have such a girl crush on Rebecca! Her figure is 🔥

Keep seeing stuff on Twitter about her and Ted ending up together but that doesn't feel right to me as there has been no hint of attraction.

And, just catching up, I interpreted the dutch man's comment as they had had sex which made me a bit icky 🤢 would hate for that to be the way she gets pregnant!

Agree they have played Nates redemption perfectly - I was with the way no way in hell should he be forgiven but they made him human again this episode and it suddenly seems ok now. Damn those writers!

On the ‘we did’ comment, as written, she falls asleep, he stops massaging her feet, puts a blanket on her and goes to his own room and closes the curtain. I think that was done to stop that sort of speculation, which has obviously failed as loads of commenters here and Reddit think he then came back out and raped her later on. His comment referred to them falling a bit in love, this is Ted Lasso, I don’t think they would do that to Rebecca.

Yes they absolutely would not do it. It’s meant to be a whimsical evening, not anything sinister

I appreciate it is totally out of step with the show but the 'we did' line just seemed wrong - too open to interpretation. As someone else has said, I don't think it landed as the writers envisaged it would.
I have to agree there!
As much as I enjoy the show is anybody else cringing at the writing this season? Especially this last episode with the wine delivery line, and the Justice League joke. Fell flat for me

Yeah, I've seen a lot on Twitter of "of course he wouldn't, people are being stupid" but for so many people to have balked at the line shows it's on the writing for me.

FWIW I didn't think assault, more that something unshown could have happened (before she got to the drunk stage, while still capable of consent) and he didn't want the awkwardness of explaining when she clearly then didn't remember.

I don't think it's the writing as much as the cynical mindset of a lot of TV viewers these days because of the way other shows are. To me it was blatantly obvious he meant they had a connection - even the way he delivered it was like a fond memory of the night they spent - and the fact that so many others thought differently struck me as completely bizarre. Like others have said, it isn't that kind of show and they would never do that to Rebecca.

I've also seen so many critics' being totally impatient - one headline after episode 5 was "the writers have failed Colin with the throwaway reveal that he's gay in episode 3" - nobody has failed anybody until the show is over and THEN if it hasn't delivered then these sorts of articles are fair game. The purpose of episode 3 was to make the audience aware and then the small looks and shots in 4 and 5 gave it time to settle, for people to understand what Colin goes through to hide himself in his everyday life, before they picked it back up again. It was exactly the right move, the Colin and Trent stuff was more impactful after a gap than it otherwise would have been.

I mean, perhaps I have a different perspective because I was standing outside a gay bar in Amsterdam in April 2022 watching them film those scenes so I never had to doubt that the story was being revisited 🤣 I know as fans we have these conversations about a story that doesn't feel like it's working but it's the inability for even reviewers to understand that something not being resolved in one episode doesn't make the storyline a failure that gets me!

I know it’s Ted land and all that but a little too saccharine for me this week.

The lass that plays Keely makes me feel worried looking at her.

I said this upthread. She did an interview with Marie Claire about how the pandemic affected her self-image and fuelled her anxiety. "Hating parts of your body, exteriorly, and then having to remind yourself that it's okay to not be a certain size, a certain height, all of those things,"

I'd guess there was a lot going on behind the scenes. I can only wish her well.
