The sad thing is, this may not be true we will never know - but the fact that it's completely believable because of what Anton HAS shown us about his character, tells you enough really doesn't it.

Just unfollowed Shirl on Instagram, I can no longer look at the woman.

I've believed Amanda all along. NOBODY would put themselves through all that for no reason. She was a wonderful dancer, I had her pegged for the final. It's horrifying that she had to put up with such awful treatment in the workplace. It's one thing if producers didn't know, but to find out that she flagged so early on that things weren't right? Nope, sorry. Heads must roll.

it’s probably just me, but he gave me major ick vibes

Not just you, lots of us have mentioned it in the context of behaviour that the pros are obviously expected to tolerate.

We also discussed it at the time that he was on the show. His bare arse on show during practice sessions, drawing Dianne as a pair of boobs and so on. 😡 All totally unacceptable. I'm sure it was brushed under the carpet by the powers that be, though.

I’m surprised nothing has been said about Bobby brazier, there were whispers about his behaviour with dianne, and I know it’s probably just me, but he gave me major ick vibes
The thing with Bobby is, he's very immature, I mean wasn't he going around the hotel in his boxers while on tour? Plus, in the end Dianne had a lot more to deal with then Bobby's antics.

I do wonder if any of the pros have complained to production about their celebs before? Or is it a case of put up and shut up?

Aw Amy 😢 I hope she doesn’t push herself too far.

But they have made changes - chaperones, welfare producers etc. Not sure if it will be better or worse for them if they clear Gio.

This seems like a red flag to me that they needed to put these in place and that they were filming the practise rooms in the first place.

I'm not a Strictly fan and was a bit scared to come over here after seeing Amanda's interview given all the tit being thrown at her on SM and in the press - again proof that Tattle isn't the forum of hate it often gets accused of!

Smiling at those of you who didn't know much about Krishnan till he was on SCD having grown up watching him on newsround.....also now feel very old!!

I don't really watch strictly keep seeing the Amanda Abington drama on the news moaning.
Do the celebs expect to do zero work and get a massive pay cheque?
The dancers have to try get them up to professional level in a short amount of time. It's going to be grueling and unpleasant. No one would watch the show if they all danced tit.
The training isn't going to be a nice process.
If you are not up to date on the situation or aware of the facts then I would suggest you keep your mouth shut 👍🏼

Very interesting and heartfelt statement from the actor James Dreyfus.

He's trying to equate Giovanni's behaviour here with trans rights and that is a bit icky imo.

Are some of Amanda's detractors pro-trans rights? Yes, but definitely not all of them.

However Giovanni's behaviour is on him and the producers and nothing to do with the trans community. He treated a gay man like tit, as well as women who as far as we know don't have 'gender critical ' (inverted commas because I'm not sure if AA describes her beliefs as GC or if hat's just what the internet has assumed) beliefs - he would hardly treat a trans person any better. If Amanda was trans she would still be getting plenty of hate, there are plenty of people who send abusive messages and say horrific things about trans people online. I've even seen some horrible stuff on Tattle (though I just put those posters on ignore tbh)

The issue here isn't trans rights, it's people who behave appallingly to others.

I should send this to Shirley. Is she really so dim that she has no idea why she, a judge on the panel, would never see his bad side. Not a bleeping clue does she have. Gullible idiot.

Shirley is oblivious to her own bad side, her critique towards the celebrities is severely harsh, to the pros she loves bringing them down a peg or two, she even has a go at the audience. Over the years she has come across as somebody who loves to break others. She cannot quite grasp that this is not a professional dance comp but a bit of fun, a foot out of place is not something to be scathing about. The judging part of the show has become quite toxic and hard to watch, that is unless you are the programme producers/judges favourites.

If she thinks she hasn't got a bad side, then supporting someone else where allegedly there is evidence to the contrary, means she condones and doesn't recognise any bad behaviour.

As for the gullibles who go to Gio's meet and greets and then say he was nothing but lovely, welcoming and friendly. Pay anybody £££'s to meet them they are hardly going be anything but 'lovely', in order to convey how they would like to be perceived.

It’s too late for that. They’ll have contracts in place, not just for the cast but all the crew, catering, etc. All that needs to be paid for and people will say it’s a waste of taxpayers money (based on the licence fee, which the tabloids will also whip themselves up about).

All those camera operators and make up artists etc won’t be able to necessarily find the same level of work even if the BBC does have some form of cancellation clause which means they don’t need to pay them. It would leave a lot of ordinary people out of pocket.

What would they fill Saturday and Sunday schedules with until Christmas? Not to mention the ITT slot (which is admittedly easier with repeats of something)

What difference will a year make except people’s memories will have faded and it will suddenly be a case of they never should have cancelled it, it’s all just such good family entertainment.

Don’t get me wrong there needs to be change at the top and the investigation into both claims has taken way too long but cancelling it at this stage isn’t that easy.
I don't get this. I know someone who works on Strictly and gets paid as staff at the BBC. He has a permanent role there.

Wow! You're right! Complete novices really can be brought up to professional standard in a matter of weeks. It's absolutely do-able with a 'bit of hard work' as opposed to years of training from childhood.

I'm so sad now that we didn't get to see Les Dennis evolve into the Rudolph Nureyev he could have been (by Halloween week).

Wow what a powerful statement from James Dreyfus. And yet again another example of silence or inaction by the producers. It is all so profoundly depressing, the endless abuse directed towards women (and not just in the public eye) that dare to speak out, raise difficult issues or take a stand against appalling behaviour.

I feel Strictly is so tarnished now. I loved my Saturday nights with a glass of fizz and escaping into a world of sequins and feathers and astounding/awful/hilarious dances. It was the perfect feelgood TV when the nights started drawing in. I was a big Gio fan (I know I know!) from the Debbie McGee era. But I began to feel something was off when he partnered Richie. Maybe because he couldn't flirt (and pretend they were secretly banging) he exhibited a colder, more haughty persona. Around this time his off-Strictly look changed to those godawful double-breasted suits and he seemed to be elevating himself above the other pros. The thank you x3 began to hugely irritate me as well. The 'where is that stupid cow' footage was vile and even worse he didn't seem remotely bothered that Rose had overheard it.

Right from the get go it seemed strange with Amanda. I remember the partner reveal (in the Sherlock room) where she was beside herself with excitement at getting Gio and he was nonplussed. I also remember her live insta-vid on the morning of the first show. She was the first to arrive and I felt she was anxious and hyper aware of all the comments they weren't getting on. I felt she had things she wanted to say but that she couldn't say them.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this but I feel Amanda has been SO brave in speaking out and not being silenced. It is telling she chose to be interviewed by Krishnan and he in turn wanted to interview her. The BBC have handled this appallingly. They knew very early on there was a problem but Gio was untouchable. Ditto Anton back in the day (they deflected the racist comments so well that die-hard Strictly friends of mine didn't even know about it). The fact Shirley felt able to post her loaded hinty message of support to Gio yesterday shows the producers haven't got a grip. She talks a lot about trolling and the abuse that women get (and she herself has got) yet fails to see the parallels with Amanda. As usual don't be mean to meeeeeeeee but otherwise I don't give a fig for the sisterhood.

I completely disagree with your last point. I was always very vocal on this these threads about how much I hated Amanda but to me she doesn’t seem like that type at all. She has a successful acting career which i’m sure wasn’t always positive, she will have been criticized at multiple points throughout her years in the industry but remained booked for jobs and clearly learned from any criticism she was given.
Fair point. Maybe highly strung would be a better description. I think she was one of the least equipped to deal with strictly even aside from having to deal with Gio's bullshit.
