I've not had a chance to watch the whole interview yet, but in the clips I've seen, Amanda is clearly extremely distressed. This is not the behaviour of someone making up allegations. I believed her beforehand, but it's just baffling that anyone who watches that can continue to dismiss what she says. It's possible not to agree with Amanda on some issues, but absolutely believe her and support her when she's experienced such horrible treatment

Ah, but she's an actress, you know? Of course she can 'put it on.'

🙄

Shirley can absolutely get in the bin. Of course he was nice to you FFS! also, you weren't 'in the room'. I put more stock in Krishnan, the other celebs and pros all supporting her.

I see the Mail are running with 'Amanda compared being on Strictly to being in the trenches'. Guaranteed to get the gammons frothing.

While questioning why the BBC haven't said & done more re the footage, I think its important to remember that if the footage is showing Gio in a bad light then it doesn't make them look good re "duty of care". They allowed him to behave in such a manner - she said each week it was reviewed and people on the production team were apologetic - so they knew and did nothing. The BBC are not coming out of this looking amazing anyway but if the footage is released to Amanda then they are legally opening themselves up regarding their failings.

FR spokesperson says that the allegations they have received bear no resemblance to what Amanda says. So what on earth are the allegations they received?

If I had any doubt about her claims, the interview, and Krishnan's comments and support, absolutely eradicated them. I hope FR never works again. She also says that 'five or six' people complained about him before her! so who didn't? Michelle, Debbie and Rose?

Thank you for posting that.

That was really an emotional read. She was balanced and fair in her comments and Krishnan was very supportive but also good that he was positive about his experience with Lauren.

All these people saying Amanda is trying to bring down Strictly, no it's Giovanni's actions that are undermining the show not her.

Of course he wants people to ignore her, he knows how he's coming across to people. As for there being no evidence, newsflash Gio, of course there's none, you won't release the tapes!

So now he's saying it's defamatory. He's been leaking that there is no evidence, that these allegations aren't in what was presented to him, that nobody saw anything etc. But according to her, she had these conversations with producers from the start where they viewed upsetting footage and other cast members knew (even if they didn't witness anything).
I don't understand how Krishan, a very serious and respected journalist, would lend his name to this if there is in fact no evidence at all, and Amanda is just inventing allegations.

Oh duck no. Not Nick bleeping Knowles. He’ll definitely be trying to shag the pros. They better keep him away from Katya. He can dance with Dianne.

Or maybe Gio could just try to not be a bleep. It sounds like there is a long line of people who have experienced bad treatment from him not just Amanda. Let’s not blame the victims because we don’t like them or because they are not saying what we want to hear. Amanda has kept silent for months. Do you think Gio should shut his mouth when he refers to the crazy woman when he’s on stage?

I think neither should be talking about it on tV when there is still an ongoing case. There would be plenty of time once the BBC conclude their investigation to give their side.

He's a disgusting coward too, another vile flaw to add to his long list of repellent behaviours.

If I was Amanda I would now go down the criminal justice route and go to the police. They have the authority to view any footage and override any GDPR nonsense from FR's legal team.

I absolutely loathe him and always have. Never ever got the appeal. He's repulsive.

I doubt there is enough in Amanda's allegations to warrant police involvement (otherwise she probably would have gone to them already).

The crux of the matter as I see it is that:
(a) Giovanni created a toxic work environment &
(b) the BBC failed in its duty of care by not intervening to rectify the situation.

What a mess! It's ridiculous that this is still dragging on nearly a year later, when it should and could have been resolved by decisive action at the time. The same goes for what happened to Zara, although at least in her case, it was resolved retrospectively.

My impression is that he has been absolutely foul to her, but that he's not committed an offence so there's nothing to go to the police about. There's a lot of confusion about what this case is about, but as far as I can see it's a civil matter.

Re the footage, the only way her lawyers can get it is if they start formal court proceedings but of course they are not going to do that until they establish what all the evidence is, so it's very much catch 22. Once proceedings are started you expose yourself in costs to the defendant.

They could I suppose apply for pre action disclosure but I'm not 💯 sure how for this type of case that works.

I don't really watch strictly keep seeing the Amanda Abington drama on the news moaning.
Do the celebs expect to do zero work and get a massive pay cheque?
The dancers have to try get them up to professional level in a short amount of time. It's going to be grueling and unpleasant. No one would watch the show if they all danced tit.
The training isn't going to be a nice process.

Did anyone see her on Lorraine? was it more or less the same?

Just saw this: she said that on day 3 she texted a producer saying Giovanni hated her and she didn't know why. I wonder if he was just fucked off to be there, didn't want to be on the show, knew they wouldn't win even if she was good, and took it out on her? we know he has a foul temper.

Neither Amanda or Zara's complaints are to do with the amount of work they had to do, it's about the treatment they received from their partners. You only have to compare them to someone like Krishnan, who still put in a lot of work but he can't speak highly enough of his pro partner because of the way she treated him and the environment she created.

I can see the ‘ignore’ button is going to come in handy shortly… 🙄

This situation is a real litmus test. Do ordinary people consider ‘gruelling and unpleasant’ as acceptable for the workplace, for schools, etc? Is it a case of keeping a stiff upper lip and keeping quiet about toxic/abusive environments. These situations aren’t maximum security prisons ffs it’s a dance show. What sort of society do we want? it scares me that people are still putting up with seriously unhealthy atmospheres and setting themselves up for a lifetime of being passive and abused just because society considers it the price you pay for a job/education. We need a serious rethink in this society, it ain’t bleeping boot camp.
