He does this in a more subtle way with his partners on the show too. Obviously he knows when to stop short of going too far on camera but all the sly digs and looks to camera and the partners just have to laugh along. Well it's thanks to being stuck with the 'duffers' that he managed to last on the show for so long. There's no way he could have kept up with younger, fitter celebs anyway and would have been given the boot long ago.Spotted this on a mumsnet thread. I know you can’t believe everything you read but this is consistent with his comments in the interview talked about upthread here.
Apparently Strictly are announcing all the celebs next week and have had no problem getting people to sign up (according to DM).
Let’s be honest - they never have issues to sign folk up, neither does I’m a celeb, DOI and CBB. Do they get their first choices ? Never and never will but they know the fickle world of celebrity is full of F listers and lower… has there ever been a quality signing of someone very current ? Nope, these people need to make their next few mortgage payments and pay their winter utility billsApparently Strictly are announcing all the celebs next week and have had no problem getting people to sign up (according to DM).
He's trying to equate Giovanni's behaviour here with trans rights and that is a bit icky imo.
Makes me wonder what Anton said about his celeb partners when he thinks nobody is looking.
But he actually made her into a really good dancer. I was not a fan of hers but her final dance was so good I thought she would definitely be in the final and could win. So surely he also saw how well she was developing. I am not condoning his treatment of her just pointing out that he had a potential finalist and must have recognised thatDid anyone see her on Lorraine? was it more or less the same?
Just saw this: she said that on day 3 she texted a producer saying Giovanni hated her and she didn't know why. I wonder if he was just fucked off to be there, didn't want to be on the show, knew they wouldn't win even if she was good, and took it out on her? we know he has a foul temper.
‘The moment I knew Giovanni Pernice hated me and I told Strictly’
Pernice ‘refutes any claim of threatening or abusive behaviour’.metro.co.uk

I bow to anyone who will have superior knowledge, I believe there will be chaperones, how independent of BBC/Strictly staff will they be, or will they also record all training?
Also I know every year there’s talk of a group chat, will they monitor communications between the individual pairs too? I know people would have to be a fool to abuse their partner via written chat, but Graz was fool enough to assault Zara.

He's always been a sarcastic effer. Had notions above his station and was often downright catty about his partners.
I watched him on life stories with Kate Garraway and thought his wife and kids were beautiful, but I felt he came across as quite full of himself.
For someone of a mediocre dancing ability (I'm speaking purely SCD) and questionable 'good looks'...he certainly got lucky...which I hasten to add I do not begrudge. Just wish he wasn't a judge and had gone like the rest of the old pros and taken the risable Shireley Ballas with him
Yes I could well believe it, same style as James Jordan, ridiculing someone on the pretence it is ‘a joke’. A joke, laugh I thought I’d never startDo you know what I think that’s probably true. Anton has never hidden who he truly is, his longevity on the show baffled me for years given that his Latin was so bleeping awful.
Obviously what Amanda has gone through with Gio has been awful. But I wonder how much of what the producers were saying to her was them paying lip service or trying to placate her not to leave the show? Vs them actually believing Gio was behaving badly. He clearly WAS and I 100% believe Amanda but I think the BBC have handled this so badly it wouldn’t surprise me if they were agreeing with her initially just to shut her upI've not watched strictly for a few years now but obviously seen the stuff that's come out about Gio and Amanda. In her interview, she said that she requested the cameras to be added and the production staff then reviewed it each week and were shocked at what they saw. If what she is saying is true why didn't the BBC withdraw him? Instead she left after 5 weeks.
Graziano was sacked because of his conduct with Zara from a whistleblower. So why is Gio treated differently than Graz especially as they have video evidence?
To be fair to Amanda, Zara has not spoken about it much in public (yet). Her reaction will also be scrutinized the moment she were to do soAbsolutely, I find it offensive too but those are the people who are already unsympathetic and she's just making it worse.
Tbh she does come across as pretty dramatic. That doesn't mean I'm condoning anything Giovanni has done but from what we've heard it's not in the same league as what Graziano did to Zara who has handled the situation with strength and grace.
I'm thinking she maybe can't be too specific while it is all still ongoingOnly watched a short clip of Amanda talking but wondering why she doesn’t actually say what Gio did? She said he bullied her but doesn’t say what the bullying was? Is she legally not allowed to or is it just too traumatic for her?
She's done herself no favours. Show some class and be silent when something is ongoing. She's an attention seeker and her timing is because she's trying to get in there first with Gio apparently going to be cleared possibly this week.
Yeah I can’t help but read articles about Sophie’s terrible time on Strictly and think that’s not actually a Strictly problem. That’s your walking carnival of red flags husband. There have been some reports about Sophie Ellis Bextor’s autobiography and I don’t know if outlets are presenting it in a certain way, but her husband does seem unhinged at points and gave me red flags.
‘All the while, Richard was feeling left out in the cold. He was worried he was losing me. Not that I was going to run off with anyone – he liked Brendan and knew that nothing was going to happen there – but I think he thought that something was awakening in me and he felt he wasn't part of my future. I never, ever felt like that, but I couldn't convince him. He could see that I was completely wrapped up in the show and consumed with the intensity of it and the constant learning, learning, learning which you share with one other person – your dance partner.’
‘Richard became unusually insistent on knowing where I was all the time. If I didn't reply to a text, he'd spiral…Supporting me in all that I do usually came so easily to him, but with Strictly I think he was just waiting for it to end. He'd message me all day when I was rehearsing, extra keen to know my schedule…We would argue when I was home about how distracted I was and about whether I'd get through to the next week. He just felt as if I might slip into a new life that left our family behind…I had no such desire, but was too spent at the end of the day to give the reassurance he needed. I think the only real reassurance could come with the show finishing.’
She also wrote that he began counselling a month into the show. She seems to blame herself for his behaviour (saying that she was too spent too keep giving him reassurances) and that he only felt reassured when she finished. Sophie and Richard have made a big show about how Richard trusted Brendan despite his previous notoriety but it seems from what Sophie wrote he didn’t trust his wife? He became almost obsessive over her.
