It has been said numerous times on here that sometimes it has gone too far in what is expected from the pro/celeb which must lead the pro pushing the celeb too far. For instance that lift is Ellieā€™s showdance shouldnā€™t have been allowed. The whole production of strictly does need to be looked at, they need to get the balance right.

Not excusing Gio or Graz behaviour.

Agree and it might also be a case of the celebrities really wanting to do well and impress their pro partners, so they push themselves too far and think this harsh training is how it has to be. When really, their pros and the choreographers etc should know the limits and tell them when to stop and set safe boundaries for them.

This is really shocking when I first saw the headline I assumed the used the wrong photo, getting him mixed up with Gio.

I can't remember the exact details but wasn't there a small kerfuffle on sm one night because Zara had done a video and people felt uncomfortable by either the content or what she said implying Graz was being unkind. Quite quickly it was turned around to them just messing around online.
Does anyone else remember this?

Yes! You're right! This popped into my head, too, but my recollection was hazy and I couldn't remember the detail but can faintly remember this video.

Not to turn the tenor of the conversation but will this mean they will be hiring a new male pro or bringing back an ex male pro?

I wouldn't be surprised if they hire another former or well known to the franchise Pro after this so they can be certain of their training methods.

I could see Michale, sure he is Jowitta's ex but in the dance world that sort of thing happens all the time and maybe enough time has gone by for them to feel comfortable in the same work environment.
I only suggest him because he has a good record on the Polish and Irish version as well as being known to the BBC via The greatest dancer.

Or maybe Pasquale will finally get a chance? I would love it if they hired him and again a known history within the franchise.

I would imagine we will get at least one other male pro added, whether itā€™s someone completely new or an old pro returning. There are currently only 8 male pros.
Thereā€™s Vito, Nikita, Johannes, Carlos, Kai, Gorka, Neil, Aljaz. I think Aljaz is Grazianoā€™s replacement and theyā€™ll hire some new male pros next year. Likely they only need 7 males so thereā€™s still a male (Neil) on the bench

Pasquale surely has a chance now? Heā€™s always been an absolute gentleman and got the best out of his partners, and they all seem fond of him still.
Michael and Jowita are definitely way too frosty still.

When Aljaz was announced I hoped it wasn't at Graz's expense (him being benched) but then I remembered JoJo saying about having a different role this year, which I'm guessing they'll be trying to convince him otherwise. Now this... It's definitely unexpected, whereas Gio there's been rumblings for years. When you think of all the bad treatment in the past that has amounted to nothing, Fern and Artem, Will Bailey's injury, Jade Johnson's injury, Anton calling Leila Rouass the P word, Ola bullying Steve Backshall, Shirley's comments... and there's only been a few headlines, if that.

At least he's been gracious in his statement and admitted fault. Although some people are choosing to ignore that just like with Amanda who it was because she couldn't handle the pressure or that Gio rejected her advances.

There's going to have to be someone in the rehearsal room with them at all times and monitoring training hours, making sure there's breaks like there would be for other rehearsal processes in stage, TV and film.

I can't see the pros bringing out the frame bar or strapping the celebs to a broom this year.

I'm so shocked by this considering Graz and Zara seemed to get on so well and remained friends. But the dynamic in an abusive situation can be very complex, she possibly didn't realise his behaviour was inappropriate at the time. Or it could be that she doesn't believe she was mistreated but the bosses disagree. It must be something bad for him to be dismissed. Injuries, long hours and being overworked seem to be accepted as part of the job (although I don't think it should be) so I don't think it's anything like that, it has to be something worse than the usual difficulties experienced by the celebs or they'd have to sack every pro. I'm very intrigued by this one and feel sorry for Zara, she didn't even make the complaint but will be the one receiving all the abuse.

I don't think the producers will care if it's frosty between them (they barely care about the celebs!) if they think Michael will come across well.
But Yes surely it's Pasquale's time plus there could be the whole storyline of his multiple wins thought out the franchise and his close friendship with Vito too. Being easy on the eye wont hurt his chances.

I donā€™t see them hiring Michael. Thereā€™s a difference between hiring two a couple who then split up, and hiring the ex of someone. Especially given that their split is public knowledge as they did the greatest dancer together, when you google him the first article that comes up has Jowita in the headline. He was presumably on their radar when Jowita was hired and they picked her.

This is exactly what I was thinking such things are complex and we don't know her history, some people don't always see boundaries being pushed because well it wasn't as bad as X so it's not that bad after all.

The fact that at the time her boyfriend was out of the country and completely out of contact maybe she felt vulnerable standing up to him when she can't even use the excuse of wanting to get home to Sam.

And whilst I don't think it was anything sexual, nothing we have read suggested it, the fact that Zara has been slut shamed for years over some historic cheating means she might have felt less able to raise concerns worried if news got out and she was blamed.

I wonder if this may cause a snowball of complaints and revelations.

When it was only against Gio I think a lot of people who may think they have grounds for a complaint (whether they do or not) may have just thought well I wasnā€™t with him so itā€™s not worth it. Now another pro is added to the mix it makes it more about the culture of the show than about the individual pro.

If I felt I had been mistreated and hadnā€™t felt like I could speak up before, seeing it now being treated as a widespread issue as opposed to a unique case would probably encourage me to come forward. The next few weeks will be interesting.

Iā€™ve made no secret of the fact I was #TeamAmanda right from when she was announced, but I do think sheā€™s shown incredible strength in being the first person to stand up and say ā€˜no, not acceptableā€™ given that the show is clearly very questionable in terms of how people are treated.

I know a few past contestants have hinted that they found it an unpleasant experience, but no one put their head above the parapet quite so emphatically before her. And the threats and abuse she and her family have received are utterly despicable.

This feels like the tip of the iceberg šŸ«¤
I saw pictures of Tess with Vick Hope the other day and she really didnā€™t have a good time on Strictly but only hinted at how it was. I wonder if when celebs are eliminated theyā€™re encouraged to keep quiet about stuff thatā€™s gone on to maintain the happy family rhetoric? I wonder if Vick will speak out now.

Kym Marsh always struck me as a straight up kind of person, sheā€™ll no doubt be asked about her experience with Graz. Sheā€™s a veteran in the showbiz industry so she may have been more prepared than others (purely speculation)

I know in times like this folk say ā€œnever liked him anywayā€ but he provoked no feelings in me whatsoever! I didnā€™t like him, I didnā€™t dislike him he was justā€¦there. I am shocked and this is not the 20 year series anyone would have foreseen

Iā€™m still trying to get my head around this as I had really believed the good guy narrative.

Iā€™m not a fan of Zara but I would dislike her to get loads of backlash for this. Whatever happened it was clearly viewed as very serious for him to be sacked so suddenly only weeks after it was announced he was back this year. She is not accountable for his actions.

I guess it really does show that people only show us what they want us to see and we have no clue what goes on behind closed doors.
