Just need to confess here that after seeing kai in some of the dances that have been shared here ... WELL.

Seeing him with Angela, he is sweet and gentlemanly but seeing him with his pace quickened ... Oh my

You're not alone 😁! I love Kai.

I do hope though that he doesn't get pigeonholed - he is absolutely perfect with AR, totally the right choice. Last year he was first out, he had the non-dancer. Kaye Adams couldn't praise him enough for how kind and nice he was to work with.

He and AJ were fantastic. I hope he gets a real contender next time around.

I smile every time when they start for the stairs to the Clauditorium. 'Oh we're running we're running' 😁 as Angela starts to run up.

And last week there was a very slightly nervous ‘and oh, you’re running faster than me’ 😁

I can do without Ian's wand but ITT was so much better pre-pandemic. What I really miss is the 1 hour Friday show. And Rylan.

Fleur is OK, but really one average host and one awful host isn't exactly enticing. They should find one really good person and stick with them all week.

Yeah, they used to have a bit of an audience on a Friday, didn't they? It was a good atmosphere.

Rose Ayling-Ellis seemed to fall for him hook, line and sinker. Remember all that gushing after the series they won ended? Where she described him as the best person in the world or something. Her live-in partner - who she quickly got rid of - must have been mortified.

Have to say that is not how I remember it. They certainly seemed to be good friends and got on well together but I never got any 'romantic' vibes from either of them. There was however a few over on DS who were utterly convinced, even months after Strictly had finished, that there was this big romance which for some reason was being kept a secret. Talk about living in a fantasy world, it got a bit stroppy over there for a while..

I seem to remember she basically spent most of the last week laughing in his face about his ‘biggest prop ever’. I think they got on well, but i never saw any romance. It was funny how whenever they met up for publicity purposes - BAFTA’s, his show etc - there was breathless anticipation that now was going to be the time when they officially announced they were a couple. And every time nothing.

I originally thought he was the new Anton being partnered with all the older contestants, but I think it’s a one off. Last year he was probably given Kaye as he did so well the previous series and got to the final, but I think giving him Angela is more a sign of how much they value him already as a pro than anything else. She was probably the biggest name this year and everything about her vibe suited Kai perfectly. I think next year he will be back with a much younger partner.

It just shows that Strictly can still throw up surprises. Launch show, people were concerned that Kai would be first out again, and thinking that Gio had done well partnerwise.
Fast forward a couple of months …

Exactly! Having an older partner doesn’t necessarily mean out first, it’s the same on DWTS with Barry Williams who is almost 70. He’s a fan favourite and can actually dance much better than people expected.

Agreed.
There's also a lovely old-fashioned courtesy (nothing to do with his age, seriously, I mean it as a compliment 😁) about him, and he couldn't be more perfect for that partnership.

Also re Kai, it's not a programme I ever watched but he danced with a guy in DWTS Ireland a few years ago - I think I saw it mentioned here or linked here, and it's so upbeat and fun.

I had just watched DOI with the same sex partnership of H from Steps and Matt and it was such a contrast.
H kept going on as though he had reinvented the wheel or something, and there was a complete lack of joy about their performances, for me, anyway.
