There are still some diehards on FB convinced, if not that they will get together at this stage, that Gio will never be happy with anyone else, look at how joyful he was with her etc. The delusion is definitely fading though. Some are keen for Rose to do an appearance with him to deflect from the current scandale. Rose meanwhile is off on hols somewhere - she liked his post but didn't even comment.

This photo of him lurking around made me laugh. Either he's finally got a link to the pros' WhatsApp group about him, or Miss Huddersfield 2019 has dropped some spicy pics

I imagine next year they will be keen to try and get a solid female partnership. Both the ones they've had, Nicola and Katya and Jayde and Karen have been a bit of a disaster. Nicola had to withdraw with covid but even before that I got the impression she wasn't gelling with the audience and came across very odd (to me anyway) and we all know what happened with Jayde.

The male pairings have fared much better, weirdly I think any of the male pros could suit and do well in a male partnership but I struggle to see which females would I'm not sure why

Nicola Adams was absolutely unbearable 😭 Not quite as bad as Jayde, but still.... close.

I'm a big Alex Scott fan and imagine the potential that could have been there if she'd had a female partnership instead of, well.... Neil 😬
 
I’d like Kai to have more good seasons first - he hasn’t won a season yet, had a full-on ringer, a disabled celeb or a male celeb. Let him go through a few different types first and when he wins the trophy, he can settle into more of an Anton role.

Think they’ll try for an F-F pairing next year. Not had a good one yet and it means they could have Amy & Lauren in the lineup with neither missing out.

Which female pros would do it though?

Yes to all of the above! I couldn't stand Nicola but always felt a bit bad being vocal about it as I wasn't sure if she had some sort of learning disability that made her like that or if she'd just taken too many knocks to the head.

Alex Scott could have been brilliant and deserved far better than being a knock off version of Harry and Meghan with Neil

I think any of the female pro’s would be fine … but to be fair you’d have to take Katya and Karen out of the running. Other than that, I suppose it depends on the usual stuff of height and personality.

(My main gripe with Nicola was the shadow boxing she did at every opportunity. Yes, yes dear we know 😁)

Same. I think Rose was quite switched on and could see him for what he was. She was always teasing him/taking the piss which I found endearing and it was clearly a surprise to him too as he couldn't do the full on ick around her and get the usual reaction. I really liked them together Because I think she neutralised his nonsense.

Absolutely. I never saw any spark between them at all.
She treated him like a slightly annoying brother or friend. Nothing else, imo.

exactly this. it’s the most likeable i’ve ever found gio for that reason - they had a pure sibling vibe and i love that his usual schtik just didn’t work on her and she completely ribbed him for it (in a way that he seemed to find refreshing). i liked them together, but absolutely no romance vibes at all.

I forgot about the AJ and Kai's supposed romance. That really went into overdrive over on DS. Some folk got their knickers in a right old twist, and then of course, Kai and Nadiya 'came out' an item and poor old Kai got hammered. Pathetic really that some took, what is just part of Strictly, it's called acting, to heart and really believed that they were in the throes of some grand passion.

There's also a lovely old-fashioned courtesy (nothing to do with his age, seriously, I mean it as a compliment 😁) about him, and he couldn't be more perfect for that partnership.

Also re Kai, it's not a programme I ever watched but he danced with a guy in DWTS Ireland a few years ago - I think I saw it mentioned here or linked here, and it's so upbeat and fun.

I had just watched DOI with the same sex partnership of H from Steps and Matt and it was such a contrast.
H kept going on as though he had reinvented the wheel or something, and there was a complete lack of joy about their performances, for me, anyway.
