Love Ellie and Vito together - she had surprised me in talent and personality

Leyton was fantastic but he should be with so much more experience than everyone else. Yes you can boo me but I’ve paid to see him dance, making him professional and he is phenomenal, so hardly starting from basic or even decent level. Loving seeing Nikita being his best though.

Just got to love Eddie and Krishnan - top smilers and just good guys.

Some of the costumes were horrific. Lauren’s bring every bit as bad, if not worse than when Vicki revealed it on ITT. Shirley rocked up in Angela R’s dress from last week and Tess and Claude having a competition on who can dress down the most.

I’d give Adam a bit of leeway as I think he is in quite a lot of pain from his arthritis. He’s giving it a go and nice to see more of Luba, but why do these celebs sign up when they have a lot going on, he missed a day of training this week cos of filming Waterloo Road. They surely know by now that Strictly isn’t the sort of thing you can wing.
As for Shirley, she really can’t help showing her nasty side and next she will be moaning about the stick she is getting on SM.

I guess he really wanted to do it for so long, he wasn't going to turn it down.

And e.g James Bye last year - I think Amy was going to the Eastenders set, sometimes, to practise with him.
I imagine if you're on the Beeb, it's a case of now it's your turn, regardless of other commitments.

I don't want him going down the Will Mellor route though, apologising. Just give it his best shot, he seems to be thoroughly enjoying himself anyway, and it's lovely to see Luba in action.

To be fair, Angela has been given low energy dances that show off her class, les has been given ‘comedy’ high energy dances that are made for viewers to laugh at. Good on him for giving it a go

I think Shirley was pissed off at the booing from the crowd so was harsher than she might have been. But it will help people - the audience will rally behind him, he gets a Journey etc
Karen messed up - she knows that the judges will come down on incorrect technique and it spoiled what could have been a great dance for Eddie.

I'm still thinking about Karens derriere.

i saw him in rent! angel isn’t really a “dancing” part to be fair to him; you just need to be able to walk and move well in heels, and do some pretty effective spins and leg kicks. same as in jamie. i wouldn’t say he has done parts purely where he just dances, but i have only seen him in two things

i don’t think it can be denied that he has natural ability combined with basic theatre training though.

agreed! i rewatched his dance this morning and yes, there are things to work on, but i can’t see how it warranted that level of criticism! i think, like someone said above, she said the first part, got annoyed with the audience reaction (and thought it was a good idea to chide the audience) and then just went on a roll.

there were a lot of weird moments where there wasn’t the usual applause after judge’s comments last night (mainly for shirley but some for motsi too). for different reasons i know but it was an odd mood.

RE Nigel's comments:

I did think Shirley over did it with her criticism for him however maybe because it's I've watched the show for so long but I always feel a bit dubious seeing certain things. It was almost like TPTB wanted him to be pulled down a bit in scores and comments this week so he could have more of a journey to show he is not doing a Kelvin Fletcher 2.0. Its obvious that Layton will be the highest scorer overall but he will obviously not win the show and he is a very ringey ringer so this by default gives Nigel the space to hide more of his experience and go on more of a journey.

The booing of the audience at the judges can be annoying but it’s more pantomime-shirls ought to know this. Shirls has a mean girl vibe to her or maybe I have just think that because she used to be friends Dan Wootton.

thoughts on last night ( am sure these will have been mentioned )

Anton - overscored all night . Fails to offer constructive feedback when the celeb makes mistakes. What is the point of being a judge if you’re not offering critique? He is a pointless.

scoring in general - I think I sat with Craig with the scores although I felt a few of his scores were too low ( with the exception of Les Dennis ).

Eddie -shat on by Karen ( who is imo one of the worst pros and to me isn’t likeable). Why she has taught him incorrect steps is beyond me. I guess she doesn’t like Eddie if she is doing this. Eddie I think given all what happened took his feedback in good grace.

Claude ( panda eyes) and Tess - another pair of awful outfits. Who keeps putting Tess is these awful suits??

Amanda / Nigel - good dancers but the pair of them have no where to go given their scores last week and last night. I also agree with Craig’s comments in that I got sucked into the story telling of the dance and missed all the technical flaws . Amanda - struggling to take to her. She isn’t coming across that well imo.

Ellie / Zara and Nikita - all dance novices and this is apparent ( although I think Ellie has natural rhythm ) whereas Nikita and Zara are stiff . Personally I think Zara gave it her best although the performance was hit and miss but I think she has potential to improve if she continues to keep trying. Nikita - I think didn’t put much effort in and yes … where was the swivel?????? Gorks has checked out I think.
as for Ellie - I think she has natural rhythm and will do well.

Bobby - bit of a pillock

I think Karen has steadily got worse as a pro.
Last year (was it last year? I get muddled ) with Jayde was a disaster. I know Jayde was a poor dancer and another one who was overly praised, but Karen's choreography was consistently dreadful. Lots of Jayde standing still with Karen whirling around her.

I watched on iplayer later last night and I rewound the kiss a few times. It was definitely on the cheek. Plus her partner was there watching, so I don’t think he would be so disrespectful as to give her a lingering kiss on the lips!

There’s nothing warm or endearing about Shirley. She comes across as a mean girl and quite spiky with her criticism. Len could be critical and charming as a head judge. She definitely doesn’t like Katya but loves Gio.

agreed. i like karen but if i was a male celeb i’m not sure i would want her as my partner (that sounds meaner than i intended!) - she is obviously a great dancer but i feel like she’s never really got the best out of the men she’s with. basically teaching eddie the wrong technique is unacceptable tbh, he’s only going to be able to follow what she tells him!
