Fuming, absolutely fuming, at Shirley. :mad:

Her tearing apart of the darling of Strictly, Mr Gorgeous, aka Nigel.

Good thing he has the work ethic of someone who bounces back and can put it behind him. Her attack was unjustified, his poor iccle face, technically it may not have been perfect, but aesthetically and visually it was messmerising and the story beautifully portrayed.

I may possibly be biased 😁 but with those comments she could have broken somebody less fragile. Only positive is that more people will vote for him to counteract her vitriol.

I'm sure I remember Karen's had this criticism in the past and been marked down for lifts in dances its not allowed, etc

I can’t understand why Nikita didn’t have even an attempt at swivel when they know it’s the only thing Craig looks for. There were a few pros mightily pissed off I thought.

The thing is, there are videos of Shirley talking about Cha cha technique which pre-date last night when she goes through the same heels down thing … so she wasn’t zinging Karen for the fun of it,
 
I remember from a few years back on DS it was said that Karen ( and Janette) are not trained in ballroom and latin. Karen is trained in mambo I think (and I think Janette was maybe salsa?). But she's been on the show a long time now and did Burn The Floor with a lot of the pros before hand so you would think she would have picked this stuff up.

i did worry he was going to go Full Mellor but i thought he (and katya obviously) handled it with grace, which is only a good thing in my quest to keep him in until the final 🤣

i thought eddie dealt with the comments beautifully too, especially given that he had no control over most of what the judges were saying to him. to his credit that he still kept smiling as my face would have been 😐

Yeah, and actually were/are married to and tour with people who have been trained in the correct basics since they were toddlers near enough. If you have been employed to teach and train standard ballroom and Latin and have access to learning from champions in standard ballroom and Latin, it’s a bit daft not to bother.

same. though i actually think he’s smarter than we’re giving him credit for - his i’m just a boy! a sweet little boy! vibe is very well done. even last night when he was like “claudia my favourite part is walking up here and 🥺 seeing you guys 🥺”

he absolutely knows the type of male (and only male) personality that works for a big majority of the voters of this show and he is Doing It. layton sadly is doing the opposite.
 
I have only just watched last night's dances ( on youtube, quick way to see them without all the 'fluff' ) . Anywho my take is that the costumes and the singing are much better than last year, so far. Angela Rippon's hairdo last night didn't do her any favours and really aged her. Can't bear to watch Les Dennis so cringworthy bad ! As you were tattlers :)

Layton also needs to connect more with the audience or he'll be clinging on in the dance offs each week for no other reason than people just don't like him.

I was watching later and was skimming the thread beforehand.
So I was prepared for Shirl and her feedback to Nigel. Ouch.

I remember her launching at someone last year early on, possibly Fleur. 'It's week 2, you know' kinda thing as though it was week 10 and they still hadn't managed a step, or something 😁.

Craig made me smile though with his 'picky picky' at her. 😁
 
I've not entirely made up my mind on Amanda yet, but she and Giovanni are definitely a bit much together, and the overcompetitiveness isn't a great look.

She comes across pretty cold and closed off, but given the years of harassment, death threats, stalking etc she's dealt with from loony tunes Sherlock fans, I can't help but wonder if some of it's defensiveness from that. I can't blame her if so, especially since I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if it was still ongoing. The Sherlock fandom still has plenty of nutters even now.

I love them. Love their performances. And she has such a fabulous smile.
I haven't watched Corrie in a long time but I know she said she never got to smile there! 😁 I want them to keep dancing all the way to the final.

She is trained in latin and ballroom. Maybe not the same level as some.

I appreciate when Shirley wants to give more technical feedback - because god knows it’s often lacking on that panel - but how she says it can ruin the feedback entirely. There’s a polite way to offer critique and Shirley massively missed the mark with Nigel. I'm assuming she saw that he was talented and wanted to push him but you’re totally right that her feedback and delivery could have easily knocked a contestant.

Also “We’re in week two now” might be one of the most ridiculous things a judge has said on a show filled with ridiculous comments.
