Irish Dancing can be quite rigid but there are some things that will help Angela in certain dances, turned out feet, pointed toes, straight legs but I don't think it gives her as much help as people would think.
I think it was a huge advantage in the jive last night just in terms of the quick flicks/kicks/retractions as they are similar foot movements as Irish dancing so muscle memory would have kicked in for her.

Surely it's Layton and Bobby or Ellie most likely to win ?
If any of them meet Nigel in a semi final dance off the judges will go with youth .
It depends really ā€¦ a 2 dance week is a lottery especially if Erin one pro plays fair and teaches Austin their celeb 2 dances and Brendan another doesnā€™t and just concentrates on teaching Lisa their celeb a waltz and letting the jive shift for itself.

Of course Iā€™m over it.

I saw him in Billy Elliott. He was fabulous in the role and has wonderful stage presence, even as a young boy. He trained for 9 months in dance and gymnastics to play that role. Yes he was a young boy but what excellent dance training that was to set him up for the future. I canā€™t imagine heā€™d get nervous much either and comes across as someone who excels in front of an audience. Heā€™s a wonderful performer and a joy to watch but hardly on the same level as the others.
I saw him in March last year in Everybody's Talking about Jamie. He was amazing and has such stage presence. I really like him and heā€™s great to watch. I think we will see him in another West End show after his Strictly stint.

As has been said upthread, I think Shirl will have pushed more votes towards Nigel and Katya.
It was all in the delivery. Had she said something like 'I'm pushing you because I know what you are capable of' and then, fine, point out whatever was wrong, it would have come across much better.

As I said earlier I think it was Fleur last year that she was bitchy to, early on with the 'it's week two, you know' nonsense. I'm mildly surprised she isn't drooling over Nigel like she was over Will, last year.

Until the fateful night of the cape, that is.

Shirley has filmed a TikTok explaining what she means about a no heel lead in the cha cha.

Meanwhile more footage of Shirley in ugly shoes

I also think giving Amanda a kiss was the least Gio could do after spending most of the dance with her muff in his face
TBF he was just checking if she has a cervix (deep cut there for the Amanda fans)

I think it's very early to be talking about either Bobby or Ellie as contenders as there is so far to go - I thought Bobby would walk it but a bit less convinced now. Ellie is doing great but she's got the salsa/samba etc to come. I think so far Vito has done a great job choreographing and last year I'd say Fleur's worst dances were the ones he didn't choreograph (salsa and Charleston. Oh plus the Abba jive, which was all him!)

Been having a bit of a tattle detox recently because of real life stuff but I miss chatting tit about Strictly on here and I have lots of thoughts about last night šŸ˜†

Why, Karen, why?? Surely she would have known the judges would tear that routine apart. I didn't think Motsi had a 'hacked off' setting, but apparently so

I just find Les so uncomfortable to watch. He actually looks like he's in pain

I find Amanda uncomfortable to watch for different reasons. Fair play for attempting those lifts but she has this weird intense energy about her that is quite off-putting

Nikita seems nice, but I think she's a bit of a lost cause. She needs to give it 100% more welly and if she doesn't manage it in a Charleston, I don't see how she's going to in any other dance

I don't have a problem with Shirley getting super critical but she does it in such a hamfisted way

My hypothetical money is on Ellie and Vito at this stage but I want to see them do something a bit more serious next (also, I hope the DS shippers don't make it weird because I can see them being their target for this series)

Thatā€™s already started over on the twilight zone/digitalspy.

Every year I forget how seriously the Beryls take it. I donā€™t think anything will ever top the AJ and Kai madness though L.

Ahh Iā€™m so torn normally I hate all the ā€œpReViOuS eXpErIEnCeā€ chat and I love when someoneā€™s good but when youā€™ve actually studied dance and taken exams in it itā€™s unfair that you would be in a competition with the likes of Les Dennis.

So true. Les would definitely be a contender for the glitterball, were it not for Layton. šŸ¤¬

Me too re Ellie and Vito. There is something so charming about them together and both dances so far have been good. I can only see an upwards trajectory for them.
