On a completely separate note- I’m watching last weeks Celebrity SAS- and have just realised that both AJ & Curtis are contestants.
I can’t decide if I’m more impressed by the barrel scraping or the fact that 2 whole hour long episodes have passed without them featuring for even a moment 😂

Really late to the party, but just caught up on Week 1. This series overall will be a difficult one for me as I've always watched SCD with my sister, but sadly she passed away earlier this year, so it will be some heavy-hearted viewing.

All that said... a solid opener. I don't think it was as solid as last year's Week 1, but overall entertaining with quite a few strong contenders. Favourite routines for me were Hamza, Molly, the two Ellies, and Fleur -- even though her dance wasn't a cha-cha-cha.

I'm probably in a minority that doesn't mind Fleur as a person, though admittedly I've only really seen her when she's performing music (read: seldom). I agree with the judges that she should rein it in; as with her dancing generally, she attacks her moves too much. It will be interesting to see how/if she softens up as the competition progresses, especially for the ballroom dances.

I also agree with the consensus on here that the scores were over the place and a handful of dances in the first half were undermarked compared to later dances. I think Kym should've scored higher than she did, while I really didn't get the ooh-ing and aah-ing over Will. I kept forgetting his routine was meant to be a jive.

As for comedy reliefs: Tony is definitely one with that hot mess of a 'tango', which I was disappointed in from Katya. I also still don't know what to make of Richie.
So sorry for your loss. It won’t be anything close but I hope these threads help to make viewing a bit easier. I can never join in the threads real time (just because we never really get to sit down and watch it on time) but it’s always a great laugh catching up ❤️

Unpopular opinion: as much as I like Rose, I don't agree with what people (both on here, facebook and twitter) keep saying that any woman Giovanni could have been paired with this year would've compared unfavourably with her. I thought Rose was lovely but not to the extent that none of Giovanni's future partners could ever be better?
I’m actually glad Gio wasn’t given a female this year. She would have been trolled mercilessly by the Rose Gio fans whether she was young and beautiful or not.

Completely agree with you. Rose was special in her own right but there are going to be better female dancers than her. I don't think anybody except Rose fans have put her on a pedestal no other woman can reach.

These weirdos are nuts! Do they expect him to retire from dancing because he couldn't possibly get better than Rose or whoever his previous partners were that were also apparently the loves of his life?!

I am so sorry for your loss ❤

Second that. Watch it with a nice glass of wine and she'll be right there watching with you, just on a different telly xxx

Thank you very much, @lavendervase, @Emperor, and @LennyBriscoe (and everyone else). Your supportive messages have buoyed me.

I haven't been on Tattle for long, but I remember when I first joined these threads during last year's final, I was struck by the overall welcoming and light-hearted environment, compared to most other established boards that tend to be cliquey or too serious. So, I'll definitely be dropping in more often during this series, and hopefully many others. 🥂

I’m really glad to hear that! This is my favourite thread on tattle for sure! We are all so like minded and just love the magic of strictly ✨

I had a look at the leaderboard from Saturday and had a look at the Strictly Spoiler website where Dave gets an idea of how the public vote goes. There was no public vote on Saturday but if there had of been totalling up the figures heres the most noteworthy points:

-Will topped the Leaderboard and Public Vote and Hamza was 2nd in the public vote.
-Molly was 2nd on the Leaderboard but dropped significantly in the Public Vote (9th); could be seen in a dance off earlier than expected if it carries on like this.
-Fleur was 3rd on the Leaderboard but dropped 3 places in the Public vote (6th).
-Tyler and Richie were popular with the Public Vote compared to where they were based on the Leaderboard; Tyler was 11th on LB and 7th in the PV; Richie was 10th on LB and 8th in PV.
-Kym, James, and Tony were in the exact same place in the Public Vote and Leaderboard.
-Tony and Matt would have been in the dance off.

Is that based on his poll? I can't remember how reliable that normally is, though the above looks fairly spot-on. Both Fleur and Molly will doubtless struggle to get public votes due to being Young Women Who Are Too Good.

Speaking of Neil being cringe, have you seen this?😆

Oh no. I had to turn it off half way through, it was so cringy I felt my face was actually turning inward on itself.

Yeah based on his poll. The poll is normally always accurate when it comes to the public vote based on the sheer amount of votes it gets, it normally reflects how the public votes.

I think when/if Gio asked to be partnered with a guy he had someone in mind like John Whyte from last year. Not that annoying Ritchie he's been lumbered with!
That’s the thing, isn’t it … not everyone who wants to be in a same sex partnership is going to automatically be good. You’re going to get just as many average partnerships as you do with mixed sex ones … and just as many celebs who turn out to be duffers.

I think Molly will struggle anyway not just because she’s young, pretty with a performing arts background but because I’m not sure she has fan base interested enough in the show to watch and vote. Karim and Rhys were probably better known as they were presenters on cbbc rather than just being in a show.(if that makes sense)
