I disagree, I think it’s brilliant that he’s went to the effort of learning sign language. Some might say it’s the bare minimum but regardless of that he has still taken time to do it, even after his time with Rose came to an end. He’s done 1 (i think) paid ad so i’m not sure how that’s relevant. People are moaning that he’s learning/posting about sign language but I can guarantee people would also be moaning if he didn’t, the guy can’t win 😂
 
Just a general observation about the line up - do we think Strictly is done with straight up social media/influencer bookings for now? There's been none since 2019, and Hrvy and Tilly Ramsey were famous for other stuff too. And this year there's no one who really has a huge following - the younger bookings are more lesser known names they maybe want to give a bigger platform to

I'm not really bothered either way, just interesting how they've changed direction a bit - maybe they've realised they don't add much to the younger audience demographic, or just don't have enough media training to be entertaining (Joe Sugg had a bit of personality, but Saffron sometimes came across as a member of the public who won competition to be on Strictly).

Or maybe I'm over thinking it and they couldn't find anyone to do it 😆

Don't forget Jason Donovan- he was very strange upon occasion too.

God, I hope he goes full Frogbox Mental at Claudia and in the training videos, with both his partner and the Great British Public staring at him in baffled, polite incomprehension. It's been so long since we've had someone go super off-piste. I have faith that he might be the one to do so.

I think they got a bit too lucky with Joe as their first leap into that sphere. He was a slightly older lad with experience of the media outwith Youtube/Instagram, knew how to play up to the cameras and the hosts, and had genuine chemistry with his partner. And so they got a bit of a shock with Saffron, who was pitifully young and bland, clearly had no idea of the world outside her isolated Youtube/Insta bubble, and was paired with AJ on autopilot.

They were canny in going for Tilly last year, she might have had the social media thing, but she also had a bit of experience in traditional TV, and was also raised by a father who knows all too well how to play the media...and how they can play you back in return.

Yeah, perhaps they've realised that it only makes sense to book a youtuber/influencer/tiktoker/whatever if they are a) entertaining and can bring something else to the table and b) can convert their followers into younger viewers

I'm guessing the latter just didn't happen to the extent they wanted it to in 2018/19

I just had a look before I read here - I wasn’t sure how our office sweepstake was going to pick their pairs if it wasn’t shown until the Friday night.

Charles and Camilla are fans apparently, maybe he asked that it still be shown for a bit of normality!

i think it’s probably best to wait and see. it looks like normal programes are scheduled from tomorrow, but things are bound to change. Like Wednesday is showing normal, but that’s the day of return from Scotland and the procession to Westminster Hall. Spidey senses say that the BBC won’t be showing Escape to the Country, somehow.

One would never wish to Witchell about such matters so I think you’re correct, we’ll play it by ear
 
Without giving spoilers, it’s funny to see people over on the Kai/AJ AT try and make his new partner about AJ. Spoiler alert guys, no matter what you lot think it won’t change the fact that AJ is no longer a contestant on the show and it also won’t change the fact that Kai didn’t date your golden girl 🤷🏻‍♀️ PRAYING any idea of their showdance is shut down asap so they can move on to something else 😂 It’s not even funny at this point, they are just coming across as extremely bitter.

On another more relevant note, anyone have any idea of when we will hear something from the BBC about the launch show?

This is batshit - where have they got the notion that Kai didn't appreciate his time on the show with AJ?

Because he didn't marry her immediately, of course!! I'm not even a big Kai fan, but now I will be rooting for him and his partner..

Following the comments on DS about the launch show and how it might be tweaked - the thought of Jason Gilikson choreographing a 'respectful' tribute to Her Maj to be inserted is almost too good: I won't be satisfied unless it involves an English pub set, Kai as a Beefeater, Nikita as Paddington, and a ghostly troupe of corgis.

They seem to think that because Kai didn’t fall to his knees and drop everything after AJ got hurt that it means he didn’t appreciate her or the time they had on the show. They also like to go on about how Kai doesn’t publicly support AJ, but I haven’t seen her support him either 😭 She didn’t go to the pro tour or burn the floor to “support” him, but remember Kai didn’t like her insta post that one time so he’s the bad guy of course 😂 The fact that they let themselves get this worked up is so strange, they went ballistic when he didn’t accompany her to her physio appointments when she hurt her foot 😂

I think there will have to be some sort of confirmation about the launch show, whether that’s the strictly social media pages resuming posting content as normal or an actual statement/change in schedule.
