Wondering if the pro dancers have been asked not to post on SM? I don’t follow them all but none of the ones I do (Gio, Lauren, Kai, Nikita, Jowita) have posted anything since initial tributes to the queen.

Carlos has posted plenty of stuff about the Queen on IG.

They're probably not allowed to discuss the launch show though.

It was mentioned with the pros being well known faces associated with BBC, they've probably been told to stay off social media for a while and not post anything too personal or "cheery". I noticed Gemma tagged Gorka in a story of him and Mia and he didn't repost it which is very unlike him. I don't think we'll see much from them this week, even if the launch show does go ahead.

I think they will all start rehearsals with their partners today as well, so that might contribute to the radio silence. We usually get the odd 'can you guess who my partner is?' story, but I imagine they've been asked to keep quiet at the moment, what with all the other stuff going on too

I remember last year, Aljaz posted a load of stories about how he was off to start rehearsals and was on a very long train journey - it didn't take a genius to work out he was partnering Sara 😆

I think it's very likely. Can imagine a DM headline of 'Outrage as Strictly stars cavort at Gola restaurant' so they seem to be keeping everything very low-key, as well as obv being busy rehearsing.

I can imagine a kind of rerun of the Kai/Amy Remembrance Day number - more likely to be mawkish than tacky, sadly.

I see Vanessa Feltz has weighed into the Rose/Gio affair, bringing up the #curse and referencing her own longing for James Jordan *shudder*

I’ve just had the first ‘you’ve not been successful’ for the show dated 24/09. From the way it’s worded it’s doesn’t sound like nobody has because it’s been postponed so fingers crossed it’ll go ahead as planned

<James changes the locks. Again>

I did just have a little giggle to myself thinking of the hit list episode that is meant to be airing before the launch show. The AJ/Kai shippers have been counting down the days since it was filmed back in February but now with the Queen’s death will it be shown, especially if strictly isn’t? They will have been looking forward to analyzing every move for months so it would be hilarious if it wasn’t even aired 😂

In all seriousness. I’m not sure how I feel about a tribute dance. I imagine they they’ll be something but it’s going to be a fine line between tasteful and respectful and something tacky.
I don’t want a cringe tribute dance. A short recorded message from Tess/Claudia and maybe Anton shown at the beginning of the programme would be more than enough. Anyone with half a brain cell will know the show had been recorded days before anyone even knew the Queen had been taken ill.

Yes just Tess saying we know it’s sad times but we are here to do our best to lift your spirits. Like when the Christmas lockdown was announced should be enough.

Yes to all of this! A tasteful, short message and dedication with her picture at the end of the show is really more than enough.

Tacking on a tribute dance isn't necessary and I think sombrely twirling around with projections of Liz in the background isn't what anybody really wants.

(Autocorrect gave me "sombrero twirling around with projections of Liz" which, tbf is more like the Strictly we know and love.)

Yeah I think that would be perfect. At the end of the day there’s a lot of people in this country who will of course be slightly sad at the passing of the queen, but not to the point where the world has to stop. There’s a lot of people too who truly could not care less, and on the other end of the spectrum there are people who are heartbroken. If that’s the case and they are that devastated then no one is forcing them to watch strictly, but I think it’s likely that the vast majority will be looking forward to the show.

A wonderful tribute would be if none of the singers sing. Preferably for the whole series. If there is a tribute, they're clever enough to do something tasteful. I'd have two teenage pro/am dancers followed by two senior dancers who then leave the floor while a photo of the Queen and Prince Philip is shown. A quick thanks from Tess before fading to something more light hearted and then that's it. Let the show then do what it does best, warm the hearts of the viewers. No singing though.
