I'm really wondering how Richie & Gio will get on. They just seem to be completely opposite personalities - Gio being the Italian stallion, a bit of machismo and very much about creating chemistry with every female celeb he's danced with. Richie is a very loud, flamboyant type. Not exactly the type of gay-straight guy friendship you'd see very often, if at all so I seriously wonder if they will get on or not.

I thought the same, but then again everyone thought the same about him & michelle and they got on like a house on fire.

Same here...itll be interesting at least. I dont think Giovanni has a problem playing up the "camp" sometimes! Im not sure they'll be as successful as J&J were last year though...

The one pairing Im not sure about is Johannes and Ellie T! Unless she turns out to be a complete ringer! Johannes, god bless him, isn't the best at matching his celebs ability! I worry he'll be too much for her! But i guess we just need to wait and see! I kinda hoped she'd get Kai! šŸ˜•

Also...after some musing, and as much as I'd have loved Ellie S with Gorka...Im really excited for her Nikkita!!

I'm so intrigued as to how Gio and Richie is going to play out. Awkward dancing through gritted teeth? Gio going all out by trying to convince us of another showmance? Full on comedy routines?

Whatever happens, he should be happy he's probably got at a few more weeks in the competition and a bit more press coverage out of it

Did I read somewhere that Gio wanted a same sex partner? That isnā€™t necessarily true of course but maybe it was a different male contestant he wanted?

Either way, as someone said before, the winner normally gets a duffer and of course Richie may not be a great dancerā€¦but I think this confirms that Gio looks to have a bigger influence than the other dancers.

I just don't believe this. He's been going on for ages about wanting a male partner, and has also spoken about how he would get a duffer - ie he knew he wouldn't get another Rose or young contender so having a lot of attention on him for this partnership will surely be beneficial? Also his stans will talk about how open-minded he is, and tbh it might help persuade some of his boomer fans on FB who might have some residual homophobia (all the ones who mysteriously disliked JoJo last year for being too camp or whatever..)

There were some articles a few weeks back about 'rumours' he was going to be paired with Richie, and the press had put a favouritism spin on it. So I don't think it will any great surprise to anyone involved

Even if they don't have sparkling chemistry, I doubt Gio will be too sulky about it as he is v good at his job. I just can't help feeling it's might be shame for Richie if they've favoured promoting a popular pro over putting a celeb with someone they may have more chemistry with. It should be about the celebs first and foremost

Although on paper, Giovanni is a huge catch as a pro so maybe I'm talking rubbish they will be amazing šŸ˜†

I agree that even if Gio is pissed off (unlikely) he will be 100% professional and I do think it will be an interesting challenge. He won't be able to really rely on the chemistry angle but we know he does great routines and is great at maximising a celeb's abilities. I don't know much about Richie - he seems alright but it seems like loads of people have taken against him based on a short video

I agree with this. Gio is always professional and will never show on his face when heā€™s not happy about a pairing. Anyone can claim they had a friend or family member at the show, I donā€™t buy it one bit šŸ˜‚

Ooh I really like her! She does the faces and everything. Excellent musicality and even when camping it up, she's bloody good. Excited for her now (and especially for her pairing!)

Youā€™d think Iā€™d been living under a rock, I havenā€™t seen much about any of the contestants (I came back here a wee while ago and the first post I saw was about Digital Spy and Kai/Nadiya/AJ and I just left again. Thatā€™s not a dig at anyone, just an observation).

None of the celebs have me thinking ā€œoh noā€ (although Kym Marsh has potential to get on my nerves) but also nobody really for me to perv over šŸ˜”. Looking forward to the series

Yeah, they all look like a happy bunch and I'm hoping for quite a fun series. Last year it all got a bit serious and earnest towards the end

And so far there's no one who looks like they have deep regret in their eyes, so that's a start

Oh my god, sheā€™s excellent!!!!

I was excited when she was first announced as Iā€™d watched a stand-up show of hers a few months ago & really liked her. And as an overweight, middle-aged ex-disco-dancer myself I was keen to see what she might do, but this is brilliant!!!

Wasnā€™t fussed either way when I found out who her partner was, but Iā€™ve got her down as a finalist now.
