I see what you mean. #justice4luba if she doesn't get a partner this year. I think she's absolutely beautiful and was so sweet last year learning to sign for Rose.

I don't really get what the point of Strictly having certain pros is if they always bench them. Surely fairer to rotate them every year so everyone has had a chance to sit out. I know people say "but oh, [insert pro] is too popular, the public would riot" but the reality is, most people would get the duck over it and still watch.

I mean, I can see to a certain extent why Neil was benched for 3 years, if him and Katya came as a team and they weren't that interested in him (and he hasn't exactly set the dancefloor on fire with any of his partners since then either)

But it feels like Luba has just been very unlucky - terrible first partner who clearly didn't want to be there, then a complete unknown who wasn't good enough to get past the first few weeks , and then missing out last year

And she just seems really nice, has done some fun Christmas routines, and was great on the pro tour - she definitely deserves another chance imo

Edit: just to go back to your original point, I definitely agree they shouldn't be taking on pros if they don't intend to give them a partner at some point (like with Chloe)

They could bench Dianne & Amy therefore letting Luba get another shot and with someone reasonable (say with someone like James Bye) and promoting Jowita. Neither Dianne or Amy really set the floor alight in their 5 years so why do they have to get partners? I can at least get why Karen & Katya would be guaranteed partners.

Absolutely agree. Both of them make me either roll my eyes or go off to make a cuppa - they just don't really have anything special. I think for a while Amy was the only British female pro so I could kind of get them hanging on to her but now we have Lauren.

I wonder if it's really worth it being a pro when you have to do those sorts of hours for pretty tit pay. Unless you're one of a few like Oti & Anton who get popular themselves, it's 6-10 years working your socks off on the show and then you basically fade away. They all say it's the best job in the world but surely it gets tiring after a while?

They should make a bunch of other ex pros judges and do away with the likes of Shirley and her mega salary. I can imagine many would be up for it and wouldn't cost nearly as much.
Most of them are fame hungry that’s why😂

Aljaz babysitting Sara's kids again... do we think she has blackmail material on him, or is it a mind control spell? 😂 😂 😂

Honestly, he and Janette must just be the sweetest real life Disney prince/princess on the planet! 😂 🥰 You couldn't fuckin pay me enough to go on holiday with someone else's children!

Do you think if Sara and Emma Weymouth ever met, there would be a full-on brawl over who has custody of Janette and Aljaz?

(My money would be on Sara winning)

Do we know if its in their contract that they have to re sign every year whether or not they get a partner?
I’m not sure right now but I think in the past some dancers (possibly inc Chloe Hewitt) had part time contracts. I imagine that arrangement meant they weren’t to be partnered (unless there was injury/illness) and only appear in the background. Now I think everyone’s on a level playing field but it’s simply pot luck and depends on the celebs. The only ones who might have a no partner clause might be some of the newbies on the understanding they’ll be partnered eventually once someone leaves.

Poor Chloe. She was genuinely shafted by Strictly.
I’ll always remember her in ITT mournfully pushing tiny dancers into position on the pretend dance floor for group dance blocking at the behest of the Gilkison Overlord and pretending she was livin’ her dream.

I do think it's sweet how well they bonded with Sara and her husband: it's refreshing for a close bond to form on Strictly that isn't dogged by nasty tabloid rumours or tedious speculation on the potential romantic meaning of on every single action or Instagram like made.

They just all seem to be good pals, and it's all so wholesome! I like to imagine them all wearing matching Christmas jumpers for a joint Christmas card this year.

Nahhhh, they're all at it with each other. Filthy swingers!

lmao, I'm envisioning a dinner filled with icy stares and subtle yet devastating cutting remarks, a few too many glasses of wine, and eventually a brawl in the car park and the loser limping home with a broken heel and some chipped nails. 😂 😂 😂

That, or filthy swingers 😉

Take a few cute photos of the kiddos for social media... then dump them at the resort's daycare and.... 😉 😉 😉

all joking aside, I don't think I'd actually be too shocked. It's always the quiet ones... 😂

wonder will Luba be benched again? I hope Graziano gets a ringer this year

Yes, I think it's adorable too. I mean, I would absolutely be on the floor laughing if they actually were swinging every which way and they were the only ones the tabloids weren't hounding for every glance or touch lasting more than half a second... but yes it is lovely they seem to have formed a really genuine connection.

Also, I don't even like kids, but my heart = absolutely melted at how sweet Aljaz looks playing with them. And them calling him Uncle Ali! Help, too cute. 🥰 🥰

Okay, why did nobody ever tell me there was a Strictly-themed episode of Midsomer Murders, with several alumni of Strictly (Faye From Steps, Danny Mac, Tom Chambers and Natalie Gumede), plus a bunch of cutesy little nods to Strictly?

It is a very implausible, baffling and badly plotted episode, but Tom Chambers is having a lovely time chewing up the scenery opposite Nigel Havers, and my darling great-aunt is thoroughly enjoying the mash-up between two of her favourite TV shows.

Whilst she(or anyone) never deserved to be treated the way she was she was only there because of her partnership with Aj(I’m sure they came as a package deal iirc).

I’m not sure if production would of considered her without him. She lacked something for me lovely enough talented dancer but maybe just lacked that little bit of sparkle. I didn’t even notice she wasn’t there anymore till someone else mentioned it.

As for Luba… I’m not sure producers really know what to do with her. She was initially brought in as a choreography assistant and somehow ended up doing the extra dancer role. She’s tall and gorgeous but they also have Nadiya for that “role”. It’s probably hard to find taller men who can actually dance well so one or the other will usually end up being benched.

I kinda want to see Graz with a ringer, bit concerned about his ballroom though.

Thank you for informing me of this marvel. I've never been able to stay awake through a single episode of Midsomer Murders yet, but I'll be making an exception for this one the moment I find it. It sounds absolutely awful and I can't wait to watch it! 😂 😂😂

It's called The Point of Balance, and even by the low standards of late-era Midsomer, it's pretty dire, it's like someone had two different plots involving a robotics lab murder plot and a ballroom dancing murder plot and indifferently hammered them together.

Tom Chambers is having an absolute ball though, trying to teach Inspector Barnaby how to dance, though Danny Mac and Faye From Steps are sadly underutilised. Also, my great-aunt (94 years old and still full of spark and sassiness) thinks Barnabys' current sidekick is very dishy.

To be fair to Chloe, she didn’t really get a chance.

This year sucks to be a female pro - 5 on the bench and at first glance 4 of them are going to be female. There are a few tall celebs this year … Tony Adams is 6’2”, James Bye is 6’1”, Will Mellor and Matt Goss 5’9” for starters so theoretically both Luba and Nadiya could have a partner.

I suppose it all depends on how they value the existing pros over the new ones.
