Yeah, the vagueness of the original article makes me think it's BS (possibly from Gio's PR? 😆), but I agree they would definitely want Gio to stick around for a bit - same reason they paired Oti with Bill.

Although, Gio and Richie would make such a strange pair imo - Richie just gives off such a goofy vibe and would need someone equally daft (in the absence of Aljaz, I reckon Graziano)

I don't know anyone who loved it: Twitter reacted with a universal howl of horror, and the Guardian liveblog essentially locked itself in the cupboard under the stairs with a bottle of gin and a teddy bear and told us it wasn't coming out until the scary yellow people had left.

Really? I saw a huge amount of rave reviews of Twitter at the time. It was like some ungodly fever dream.

Ah, I always feel sorry for someone who gets a bad Strictly ride. In normal circumstances I don’t think she would have been paired with Gio but the whole has the same agent as friend of Georgia was going to be the storyline which came crashing down leaving her with the whole Poor Georgia Having To Watch Them coupled with not wanting to come across as getting on too well with Gio because of the whole Poor Georgia Thing. I don’t think they were ideally suited but it was a minefield. Whether I like her or not, it ca T have been much fun.

I always love it when Craig offers a celeb in an upcoming production and they are thrilled.
You might want to hold off popping the champagne until you‘ve spoken to Georgia, Joe, Maisie, Rhys etc etc about how that’s working out for them.

Flavia was allegedly the most popular pro - and she still had a run of Phil Daniels and Craig Kelly (FreeFlavia year), Kevin from Grimsby was gifted Anneka, Darren and Lilia were the original ‘Strictly Power Couple’ and were dropped like a hot brick.

Genrally, I don’t think they really give a monkey’s.

The pairings are usually spot on, and like pawns in any game the pros and celebs are fair game for the producers to run with any narrative they like. They do drive it in the direction they feel will draw viewers, the Strictly curse is probably one that they wring their hands at.

There are plenty of pros out there that they can bring in, hence the four new pros this year in order to get them known to the viewers before they take over from potential 'leavers' or those they choose to 'let go'.

Oti won twice in a row, Aliona didn’t and that’s why it was such a big deal. I liked Aliona on the show, shame she ended up being a raging bleep though 🥴

I remember Craig he was rubbish but use to think he was brilliant. Has there been anyone else like him who think they are really good but in fact are useless.

Jan Ravens! Didn’t her husband have a row with Craig in the bar after a show ,cos they thought she should still be in. I also got similar vibes from Sara Davies last year, she definitely started believing her own publicity.
