There was talk of doing one of the episodes from Buckingham Palace but I think they’ve postponed that idea for this year

Didn’t they do that … wasn’t it on BBC4 or something and they showed the whole Rose and Gio CC episode?

Wasn’t it supposed to be for the quarter or semifinals - which considering they are the ones most likely to be affected by the World Cup scheduling, I suppose it’s not that surprising if it’s been quietly shelved … if it was ever going to be a thing that happened, anyway.

If that was it then that’s incredibly disappointing especially when if you want to rewatch the dances they’re online. I assumed that repeat was just schedule filler amongst a bunch of other random summer repeats.
 
The recent repeat of the episode with Rose & Gio’s CC was part of a celebration of Saturday night tv, I think, not SCD specifically, as Noel’s House Party & Blankety Blank were on too

I vaguely remember reading something like that, but it was to do with the BBC centenary 🤔 This says there will be a special edition of Strictly: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-59325008

I saw this on Twitter today, Shirley saying there are things planned for the 20th series, although it sounds like the usual "this will be the best series ever" spiel that she says every year :LOL:

Have any of the ‘special edition’ shows … Strictly/Masterchef/The Apprentice/Antiques Roadshow/Top Gear … come to fruition yet?
the only one I can really think of is Great British Menu that had a whole series and final meal at Alexandra Palace.

I wonder if it might be a themed episode during the series? I've no idea how this would work though. But I can't see how they could fit any extra episodes in the schedule

I just want the judges to be judging on some similar basis, one judge scoring 4 and another 9 seems ridiculous, or a 3 and an 8. Five marks different, was one marking the outfits and the other the dance, or what are they watching?

All celebs are going to start at different levels according to their ability and aptitude for dance, just because a presumed duffer improves measureably doesn't mean they have to score them higher for their effort or their 'journey'. Apologies for using the 'J' word. 😬

Coincidentally, Bill Bailey did a banging electronica remix of the BBC News 24 theme tune on his tour about 8 years ago, what a pity he didn't get to boogie to it in his prizewinning year!

I was just about to post this too - I saw this show live and even all these years later (it’s got to be at least 15 years ago I think, as it was before I had kids, think it was the ‘Part Troll’ tour) I stil hear this in my head every time I hear the News theme 😁


Edit: bloody hell, it was 2004!! Didn’t think it was quite as long ago as that!!
