Strictly Come Dancing 2022 #6

Looking at it objectively now I've had a few days to sit on it, the female lineup is kinda good. They've overlapped having two comediennes of the same age (I'd have went for just Ellie Taylor) but Ellie Simmonds, Fleur East, Kym Marsh & Helen Skelton are all good signings for the show. Kaye Adams also a recognisable face even if likely cast for a short stay.

It's just the male lineup where it kinda sucks. Some on DS are speculating that the World Cup may have led to some men saying no to the show this year.
 
Put a bet on Fleur winning but the more I think about it the more I think she’ll just end up a finalist. I think she’ll be fantastic from the beginning so won’t have the ‘journey’ edit and also previous experience etc will be brought up as per every year. Fingers crossed though!

I think the men that Strictly probably wanted are otherwise engaged … be it because they are heading towards Paris in 2024 or because they are punditary bound … or possibly just don’t want to do it. I must admit that am surprised that Owain Wyn Evans isn’t in the line up. He seemed to be having a trajectory that was certain to finish up in Strictly sooner rather than later … the CiN drumathon, the flinging self in freezing water with Diane, the BBC breakfast and One Show appearances, the locuming radio host … his last year seemed to have Strictly all over it.

I honestly think Owain Wyn Evans overdid the BBC shows. I kind of felt when he did that Feel The Cod Psychology Fear that he probably wouldn't do Strictly as well. Think we'll probably mention him again next year though!

Apparently Helen and Neil are following each other on instagram and people are saying this is because they are partnered. But I think they were following each other for a while anyway
 
I think Owain is a 100% a future contestant possibly next year. His agent might have advised him to only do one “celebrity does something” show this year. I’m sure he’s said he’s up for it as well so we’ll see him eventually.

I think on reflection there’s only Tyler and Hamza (also molly on small level. I’m not sure she’s the biggest cbbc star they’ve ever had) who are genuine “who” head scratchers (even if countyfile did replay one Hamzas films on Sunday and I actually twigged who he was he’s still not the most famous countryfile presenter they’ve had and definitely less recognisable)

Everyone else is pretty recognisable and most have featured on very mainstream television.

I was babysitting a four year old this weekend who is currently obsessed with nature docs. We watched a Cbeebies thing called Let's Go For A Walk and who presented it but "Ranger Hamza".

Oh my, he has a big fan in my niece! She was shocked and appalled that I did not know who Ranger Hamza was! (I don't know anything about anything, apparently, and was pitied for my lack of knowledge of Ranger Hamza, Hey Duggie and Bluey)

He seems a lovely chap, all the Cbeebies presenters are. But I am most interested in how they are going to do his hair: it's most definitely the longest hair any contestant has ever had.

Kids love Hamza! I also suspect I'm going to end up fancying him - he has such a lovely face and a gentle manner. I'm excited to see the updos they give him 😁
 
According to Ellie T they won’t find out till they film the reveals.
The Mirror have a story today about how fans have ‘worked out’ that Molly is paired with Kai. The evidence for this is that he’s been liking her posts for years (ie before either of them were ever associated with SCD!). Yeah case closed, Columbo

He's been liking her posts for years because they were on the same season of Britain's Got Talent and everyone got fairly pally backstage, surely.

Not saying it would be impossible for them to be partnered, though perhaps the producers would shy away from the BGT angle, it does kind of give the impression reality TV shows are just a big conveyor belt who push the same people around on it over and over (which would be correct, but still...)
