Yeah, Ranvir did her waltz in the DO which got 26/30, while Jamie did his salsa which got 24. But I presume the judges were thinking abbot her jive which got 18 and was pretty terrible while Jamie's QS also got 24 so he was more consistent, as well as which of them might have been more entertaining in the final. And while I was a staunch Ranvir supporter, and reasonably anti-Biscuits, I had to acknowledge that Ranvir wold have struggled to produce 3 dances in the final that weren't all ballroom!

That was a rough dance off, I liked both of them for totally different reasons. I did love Jamie and Karen for doing their Showdance to ‘I’m still standing’ and starting with the dance off light on them though.

I haven't watched Corrie in a long time so I don't know this person either! Wonder who will partner her: Gio, Kai, Cameron?

Kai apparently.

Me and friend always say that if there is no chance of winning, leaving in the semifinal is the best thing … you don’t have to spend the week on the promo route while trying to finesse 3 dances, you get the week as an eliminated celeb all to yourself and the interview on ITT plus you don’t actually have to leave the show because you are still involved with the dances in the final. Much better than finishing 2nd/3rd/4th where you are basically ignored.

Yes, Ranvir got a 'dignity in a nice frock' exit, a nice long exit interview on ITT and a relaxing week rehearsing for the group dance, rather than having to exhume one of her dodgy Latin dances. I always wish there was a final ITT on the Monday to do a debrief and talk to all the couples, but I get that their contracts end with the final and most want to rush off on hols or go home.

exactly this! you get all the fuss and attention, and you’re still very involved in the show’s final week rather than having a break.

i always feel for the people who come second/third because they move on from them so fast during the show, and they don’t get much attention in the week after either. i’m sure there used to be a special monday itt back the day where all the final couples would get interviewed after the show, but i don’t know if that’s my imagination or not 🤣 either way, i think it worked because everyone got to reflect and get the spotlight in the same way.

i’m sure there USED to be a final monday itt! please tell me someone else remembers this 🤣 it would have been back when claudia did it iirc.

There was a red button thing with Zoe a couple of years, I seem to remember but can’t actually remember an actual ITT (doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though :D )

The ending is so rushed and such a damp squib for all the build up.

if I ruled the world, I would start ITT a week earlier so we could see the training footage for the first dances and get to know the celebs a bit better, giving the less well know ones a chance to start building a fan base rather than going in cold and have a debrief show so the <many> runners up get their interview and the winners a proper chance talk.

Another unknown? If they can't attract decent names for a one off special, they're in trouble.

are you talking about the girl from corrie? i don’t know who she is because i’ve never watched it but i guess she’s known if you’re into soaps.

i think it gets tricky as to what you deem to be a “decent” name really. i don’t know her or rosie, but a load of the ladies in work are really excited about rosie because they love her podcast so she has an audience she’s known to, even if i have never seen her on anything in my life 🤣

the ending is absolutely so rushed and i really wish they would improve it. surely enough people have watched it now and realised that it just ends the whole series on a bit of a whimper.

your itt idea is amazing! i would add that we need an hour long show on the monday or tuesday after the final to fully discuss and get everyone’s feelings.

I’m still not sure on drag queens. It’s verging into pure reality star and I’m not sure strictly would go there. Mark Wright did start on towie but I think he’d moved on to a few other bits and bobs by the time strider came along. If any of the DRUK contestants had done anything other than reality show to reality show to doing the rounds on celeb editions of pointless etc I’d say there’s a better chance. Traditionally strictly hasn’t really gone in for pure reality star almost everyone has been known for a proper career such as acting or sportsman. (I know social media stars are a bit debatable)

jamie was arguably a pure reality star when he did it (imo anyway - no one would recognise him for anything else!) but you’re right that strictly seems to stay away from having love island contestants etc the way some other reality shows do.

my main thing with drag queens on the show is that they have a performance and sometimes dance experience that would give them an unfair advantage. their whole vibe is being able to fill a stage by themselves and sell a number. but i guess you could make that argument for any type of pop star they’ve had, and some of them haven’t been great!

Yeah, I teach Chinese students quite a lot and most of them choose English names. I liked it when Rhys deliberately used Nancy's Chinese name last year.
It seems to be a very Chinese thing to do. I don't know any Asian or African people who change their names to westernised ones. No matter how annoying it is when people can't pronounce their names!

I don't get how drag queens would work. Presumably they'd take the female role but then are their bodies really capable of producing those movements in the same way? Also it just feels a bit like having a fictional character taking part and they're such big personalities I feel like they'd take over the whole show. I don't know it just doesn't sit right with me.

I just work on the principal that if Strictly had been on in the 1970’s we would have at least Danny La Rue doing the whole series in full rig, Dick Emery doing at least one dance as Mandy and maybe even a Cassie or Ada terrifying their Pro with a raunchy rhumba.
