I was one of the ones who commented on the necklace - it was just something about his self-presentation and affect that set off my gaydar, which of course isn't reliable. And yes, based on stereotypes! And as I said, this binary is problematic in itself and #bisexualerasure is a thing. Let's hope all the pros are happily copping off with each other if that is their bag (except Neil).

I would still like Clive to show up: maybe give him to Lauren with a little bow tied on him so she can do a fun cha-cha-cha with him after a year on the bench? (Michelle and Cameron can get nice partners too! Nice partners for all the good patient souls on the bench this year!)

I was so disappointed in the Christmas show last year, not only for the horrors of the Only Fools and Horses Dance, and poor Mel Geidroyc having to do a street Couples Choice thing. But we finally got Moira Stewart...and they dressed her in a red sack and had her do a sort of vaguely Latin-flavoured wander around the dancefloor. If you get Moira Stewart and give her to Alijaz, you are seriously missing a trick to not give her a Lovely Aljaz Waltz (the best kind of waltz there is). Most disappointing!

However, we did get to see Jowita coaxing a very respectable dance out of Adrian Chiles, and in retrospect we should have realised at that point she would be magnificent on the main show and all put bets on her to get to the final, no matter who her partner was.

I feel like the opportunity to get Mel to do a full series was lost around the time she learned she was going to have to pretend she wanted to learn to street dance.

I have never ever bet but I really should have put good money on Jowita and Hamza before their first dance.

Everything about the Maura thing seemed so fishy and fake. 100% came off to me like a bearding contract. Though I suppose it still could have just been a PR stunt without it involving bearding, but either way I find it hard to believe they really dated. Just seemed too weird after she was with Curtis, who also has gay rumours, and their relationship also seemed mostly PR-stunty. On datalounge you'll see guys be like 'we know X has to be gay/bi because he dated notorious beard Y!' and then on L Chat they're like 'we know Y has to be lesbian/bi because she bearded for notorious closet case X!' so it could all mean nothing of course 😂

Yeah, I think so. I'm pretty sure the producers would prefer that most of their pros are available for showmances, and even though being bi wouldn't actually preclude that, it would in the minds of more conservative viewers, like Gio's fan army that seems to be comprised mostly of boomer Karens.

Anyway, yeah, I agree if any of them were bi, I doubt they'd ever come out either. On top of pressure from the show to be available for showmances and straight female fan thirst fantasies, they'd be opening themselves up to a ton of harassment, especially the ones in relationships. Their female SO's would undoubtedly be bombarded with countless messages from 'well-meaning' busybodies telling them about how 'I know it's none of my business, but I feel obligated to warn you my cousin's friend's sister's hairdresser's husband left her for a man, and the same thing's definitely gonna happen to you, in fact he's probably already cheating on you, take my advice and leave him now before you catch something blah blah blah' and so on.

Noticed on DS that Helen doing her CC this week means if she makes the semis she’ll have Tango, Waltz / Rumba / Argentine Tango left to do, which pretty much means she’ll have to do either Rumba or AT in the semis, which isn’t ideal as she struggles with acting and being sexy. Equally she seems to have a strong vote so maybe she’ll be fine 🤷🏼‍♀️

Could she do tango and waltz? or are those deemed too similar? I can't see her going near either AT or rumba. As you say, she will probably make the final anyway..

They mismanaged both Mel and Nina Wadia. Two middle aged women who were great gets for the show yet both were paired with the least popular male pro and had either crappy choreo or theming. Wasted opportunity especially since neither were crap dancers and it would have been nice to see what either could have done given a chance.

It's often a Ballroom + Latin or speciality so she's likely going to have to do an AT or Rumba.

Every time I see the name Carlos, for some reason I think he's Fleurs partner. Then I remember his name is Vito and its Molly's partner who is Carlos.

And I know this is cheeky, especially with all the news stories today, but is Carlos's his real name???

Fair enough, it's certainly not hard proof of anything, but pearl necklaces seem to be something of a fashion trend I've noticed on lots of gay celebs lately. Tom Daley, Sam Smith, Olly Alexander, a bunch of TikTok/Instagram celebs etc

If you choose to believe that all his fans fit that label that's your problem. I was only referring to the ones that actually are exactly that. And he does have a lot of them on Facebook. 🤷‍♀️

Tbf I should have included that he's got plenty of Gen X Karen fans too.

I would have thought that 'and he also has some fans of varying ages who aren't obsessive lunatics who constantly put down the other pros to exaggerate his achievements, insist he and Rose are about to get married even though she obviously deserves better, and ferociously defend his douchey/sleazy behaviour' was obvious without being stated, seeing as I am a fan of him as a pro.

Literally in this thread a couple of days ago a 70something year old was ranting about woke execs rigging things in favour of gay and POC and disabled contestants.

And every time my 67 year old mother walks into the room while I'm watching, she never fails to make a disgusting comment about how 'the world's gone mad' that they allow same-sex pairings, interracial pairings, disabled contestants, fat contestants, and pairings where the woman's older than the man. :rolleyes: :sick:

I remember reading on here that apparently it was her request to do a Salsa, baffling as that may be. 🤷‍♀️

I'm gonna say probably not? I mean Nancy has her actual Chinese name which Rhys used last year! Would love them to use it more often but she also suits Nancy?!

His Chinese name is Kunxuan . It’s on his Facebook profile under other names , and there are some clips on YouTube of him competing under it

Was about to say this, I think it can be both for ease but also because British people have famously been crap at learning/pronouncing traditional Chinese names. My friend got ‘given’ her British name by the headmaster of her primary school in the ‘80s 😬
