I could believe it, but I'm confused as to how the 'attacked by random thugs on the street' story got out in the first place if it really happened in a hotel room. Surely either the whole story would have leaked to the tabloids, or it would have been covered up? If he didn't want to press charges against her, why make up some other assailant at all when it would only make it seem more suspicious?

I can't be bothered looking for them now, but I'm pretty sure I remember that the earliest articles about it made it sound like the incident was reported to the tabloids by a random witness, which would lead me to think it was some random on the street who didn't know any details. I suspect someone rang police or ambulance and then it got out of hand and he had to invent something. From the press stories his story was inconsistent and there was no evidence from CCTV of where he said it happened to back him up at all.

Damage control. Celebs do it all the time. See Jimmy Fallon's wedding ring injury 😆If he was seen with bruises on his face and no story it would have set tongues wagging.

I remember someone on the Secret Celeb Gossip thread alleging that the BBC threw Katya under the bus with the Seann thing to stop some drug scandal involving multiple pros from coming out. Like, some deal with the tabloids to let them publish a less damaging story than one they were planning to. Not sure if I believe it, hard to see how everyone including Katya would agree to it but who knows?

Something that did make me consider it might be true was, a while ago I was rewatching Ranvir's Argentine Tango, and I noticed Gio sniff in quite a pronounced way. Since it was the Covid season, a cold seems pretty unlikely, as does hayfever at the time of year...

I think I’ve mentioned before that I watched Gio on Jamie Laing’s podcast and he did come across ok, but I noticed he was sniffing quite a bit especially at the beginning. It’s well known he barely eats during training but I highly doubt he’s sustaining himself on just coffee and cigarettes. He needs to get energy from somewhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if others were the same.

True, though I remember reading comments from people confused that there was no sign of a bruise the next week on the show, though of course it could have been covered with make-up.

But I can't imagine why he wouldn't have gone with the old 'ran into a door' and/or hidden it with makeup entirely rather than make up a story that would prompt an investigation.

Ah yes, that could explain it. But I'm pretty sure the police released a statement saying they never spoke to him? Confusing. :unsure:

I'm starting to wonder if the truth is a mix of both stories? His ex-fiance was responsible, but not personally? Maybe she got friends/relatives to jump him?
 
On a happier, non-drugs and violence note, they must be filming the Christmas Special soon, probably 1st or 2nd Dec?

Anybody got any hopes as to who might be on it?

I'd kill for Huw Edwards to do a dance to the BBC 24 News Theme (Bill Bailey Remix).

Or one of the older people who do Fridays It Takes Two, like Hayley Mills, Elaine Paige or Angela Rippon. They might not feel up to a full series, but could be coaxed into doing a Lovely Waltz with Kai or Gio, I'm sure.

Could totally see Tony Hadley do a Christmas Special too, he likes popping up on random BBC light entertainment shows.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised either. And of course his friendship with Jamie Laing is another red flag. I was shocked and thought the story sounded like nonsense at first, but then when I found out that most of them smoke, I realised that the whole 'dancers are too health conscious to do that' line of thinking didn't really pan out.

ETA: Oh, and come to think of it, I remember reading that rhabdomyolysis (what Gorka was hospitalized with last year) can be caused or exacerbated by drug use 😬

I dismissed the idea at first too, but then I thought, who knows what if they 'need' it to have the energy for the show? I do think it's a bit alarming how he seems proud of hardly eating anything.

It really is annoying me that’s it a 3-person final because I’ve got a horrible feeling Will Mardor will get there with Hamza and Helen (Hamza getting there doesn’t give me a horrible feeling) and I would like Kym or Molly to get to the final too.

Tyler clearly doesn’t have a fanbase as the minute his scores drop, he’s in the dance off. I don’t mind Ellie and JoJo but I do think she’s the weakest dancer left. I wonder what’ll happen next week for them
