His ex fiance knocked his teeth out but it got blamed on randomers.
Yeah this is what I heard at the time. She found out he cheated on her and battered him, other dancers in rooms near by tried to intervene and she legged it. I'd imagine Gorka didn't want to press charges.

Was it just me or did Tyler look like he wasn't arsed he was in the dance off. He's definitely peaked and I think he knows he can't win and isn't bothered now
He looked either like he knew was going to be in the dance off or like he just didn't care. He doesn't seem to be loving it as much as he was in the earlier stages.

Why are all his ideas just variations of ‘gang of lads and gang of girls bump into each other in culturally diverse location. Two or more of them fall in love. Chaos ensues’. Did he watch West Side Story at a formative age or something?
Two things guaranteed about strictly every year- almost weekly Gilkison running around dance drama and the appearance of the strictly suitcase in at least once dance throughout the series.

Sometimes the two collide.

The definition of a ringer for me is someone like Kevin Fletcher - no dance experience but likeable and really bloody good. The public generally don't like someone with dance experience but Ashley Roberts and Danny Mac (I still say he was robbed) were popular so got the the last stages.

There's no accounting for people like Hamza who has no experience, has a body shape that would lead you to think he would not be very good and has a limited fan base. You can tweak it but giving them a good partner and good tunes but it's best left to chance.

Anton got duffers most years and he got a full time gig from it.

I'm curious about who knew what re Tony and Katya not taking part in the dance off. When the judges were giving their advice, I think they knew. Craig told him he loved his dancing, I don't think he would have said that if the dance off was going ahead.

Tbh, I think the judges owed him a bit more than they gave him during the time he was in the competition. Anton used every opportunity to mention duffers he had partnered but really didn't give Tony much feedback that I can remember. Craig was dismissive and mean with scores.

Tony was never going to win, but he gave it all he had and took all comments and scores with good humour. I'm sorry that we won't be seeing him next week even though I knew he probably wouldn't get much further.

I think it's admirable that Katya challenges her partners but i agree about Adam. His first dance was promising but you could see him struggling from week 2 onwards with stuff that looked way beyond him

Although tbf to Katya, I imagine Adam was the sort of personality that wanted to be pushed and challenged (and perhaps wasn't used to not being the absolute best at something so struggled with that side of things too)
At the end of their Cha Cha when they did that leg spin thing that almost went wrong and ended the routine on a wobbly note I was like

but it was and it only got worse, then there was that stiff, terror-stricken Quickstep the judges absolutely ripped apart. I remember when it panned to the audience after someone else's dance quite a while after Adam's, she still looked absolutely devastated about the scores, clearly on another planet, not even noticing everyone else clapping, and my heart just broke for her that she hadn't worked out what went wrong. :( (But damn she's so lucky the tabloids somehow managed to miss that one, bet they would have loved to write dozens of articles about how she was 'throwing a tantrum' and probably feuding with whoever's dance it was she wasn't paying attention to.)

Then on ITT when she said that she thought she'd pushed him as hard as she could and they didn't know what more they could have done I was just
and willing her to telepathically receive my message that she needed to chill out, not go harder.

Agree with what you said about Adam being the sort of personality to exacerbate the problem. I really hope she would be able to overcome these problems if she did get a ringer next year. She deserves a non-duffer at the very least, and hopefully someone with a less intense personality that can calm her down a bit.

Yeah, I agree. I think Adam himself admitted he was not very mobile and too muscular for a lot of those dances. They weren't helped by hideous rumba theming and him having a meltdown the week of samba training post-kissgate!

Shirley drooled over him for quite a while, no matter how well or badly he did. I think last week was the first time she gave him anything resembling criticism. I know I posted this previously about him but it seems to me as if he isn't taking on board what is being said by the judges. He just seems to come back and do the same things wrong whereas the others are very conscious of taking stuff on board and trying to improve on heel leads and whatever else is mentioned to them.

He would have been saved last night (although not by me in my imaginary judge capacity 😁) had the dance off gone ahead but I would say he sees the writing on the wall and knows he will be exiting before long.

Dianne really struggles with the bottom two scenario. She almost had a breakdown the year she went out with Dev, she looked like someone had died on ITT. They didn’t deserve to go out that year but it was a bizarre reaction. Similarly with Max, she didn’t take it well at all. I think she takes it too personally. A reflection of her own popularity rather than her celebs. Can never decide if she’s just really insecure or got an inflated ego from the Joe year & the hugely increased fan base because of Joe.
I think she's really insecure. She is not as good a choreographer as some of the others imo and has decent celebs.

Why is Blackpool like the dance capital?
I mean it's such a tit hole why was it chosen 😂
I think it historically was the home of ballroom dancing and is maybe one of the few places where they have kept the ballroom and not turned it into a bingo hall or something. The ballroom is beautiful, but best to stay indoors I think!

Was he cheating with Gemma? These dancers go through fiancé's more often than they change their knickers!

No, she did Strictly the following year. I am sure there is loads of intrigue though, and isn't the Blackpool afterparty legendary?

Can't have been, hadn't met her yet.

I could believe it, but I'm confused as to how the 'attacked by random thugs on the street' story got out in the first place if it really happened in a hotel room. Surely either the whole story would have leaked to the tabloids, or it would have been covered up? If he didn't want to press charges against her, why make up some other assailant at all when it would only make it seem more suspicious?

I can't be bothered looking for them now, but I'm pretty sure I remember that the earliest articles about it made it sound like the incident was reported to the tabloids by a random witness, which would lead me to think it was some random on the street who didn't know any details. If it was someone who knew what really happened, why bother to tell the tabloids a fake story that wasn't very juicy?
